Bedard is a bust. The worst defensive liability in the modern era of hockey. The worst +/- of any rookie in the last 30 years. Worse than rookies in the 1980s when everyone had blown out stats. Since then, lots of rookies have played on worse teams than Chicago. Every #1 pick goes to a lousy team. That’s how it works. Like Hossa in Ottawa, or Kovalchuk in Atlanta. And yet every single one of them for 30 years has done better than Bedard. Let’s not forget that Dickinson played on the same team and was a +4. Heck, Donato was only a -14. There were other 18-year-olds playing on poor teams last year, like Benson and Fantilli, and they did better than Bedard. No excuses. Dude is not a generational talent. He’s just out to pad his stats.

Although Lindros had a good (but certainly not great career) he never lived up to his full potential due to injury (especially multiple concussions he suffered). Lindros now has donated and raised millions of dollars for the Department of neurology/sports medicine at the U of Western Ontario which is doing groundbreaking work on concussion injuries. Lindros has admitted that he was a "marked" man when he played which contributed to his multiple concussions. Let's just hope that doesn't happen to Connor Bedard.
