As someone who loves Umineko so much, I will say to watch the visual novels. The anime couldn't get into the beautiful, complex narrative the visual novel had...Many people watched the Umineko VN for Higurashi, but they instead became a fan of Umineko. Because, Umineko itself is it's own story. The heart of the story is about the characters in Umineko not the character who was important in Higurashi. Anyone who have read the visual novel, can tell how much splendid and just amazing is Umineko no naku koro ni with it's story... And of course the characters, they feel so real and so normal rather than just anime characters. Anime only watchers will not understand the love of it, how sad...! As for the Higurashi gore and violence and the psychopathic elements are not what makes the story- Those are certainly there, but that itself is not about Higurashi no naku koro ni. Higurashi no naku koro ni is not only some crazy, gore kind of anime/manga/VN. And it applies to Umineko more than Higurashi. Ik not more than 1 person will find out this message of mine, but I had to say, if you get to read this all the way, please read Umineko no naku koro ni, all 8 episodes of the visual novel since it's such a splendid masterpiece of a novel. Definitely, one of the best pieces of fiction ever created. If Umineko no naku koro ni was a book, it would be on my tops ♥️♥️♥️

The first time I saw Attack on Titan I thought it was hilarious and practically stupid, and I didn't even give it much time. I stopped watching it 10-15 minutes after it started and didn't look back. About 2 years later I went back to it, ready to give it a second chance. I had very low expectations, even close to zero, but in the end it actually turned out to be one of my most favourite animes of all time.

I changed my mind on Fairy Tail. I thought it was amazing. It was one of the first anime I watched and really enjoyed, the hype was there...(I remember watching all of Soul’s Animation videos lmao what a time) But a few years later, and a couple of hundred shows later, I realized the animation was a actually below average, the fanservice was too much, and the storyline was overall quite sloppy. That’s why today I don’t even consider it to be a fairly good show, but I will never forget how much I liked it and how happy I felt while watching it. Besides the music is still dope tbh

Same with me. At the time I watched it, I thought I could not love any shonen anime as much as Fairy tail. It was hilarious, the characters were cool, the world building, the magic powers were great but then later on, as the arcs went on in the same format over and over again, I started to like a little less though I still didn't want to admit it. Then by the magic games arc and after that I just stopped watching. Even then I read the manga only bcos I wanted to stick to the end since I watched this much, only to know that the mangaka kinda fucked up with the lazy ass ending. I still think Fairy tail had potential and if handled right, it could have been popular for being a GREAT show, not a shit show. Some of the plot twists were actually good. The problem was with the overall plot. It wasn't consistent, it wasn't unique, the fanservice scenes were shown at a wrong time, the fight scenes weren't balanced and impactful and the villians were quite forgettable (except Zeref and Acnologia). All in all, it was a wasted potential.

Personally, I see SAO as a shattered hope of mine for a fantastic anime. When I watched the first episodes of SAO (Aincrad arc) I absolutely loved it. I loved it because it was home territory for me as someone who spent his childhood on video games, MMORPGs and RPGs in particular. The thing is that after the Aincrad arc finished, when THAT thing happened, it took me exactly 3 episodes to stop watching the show *for good.* That happened 4 years ago and I deny the existence of the rest of the show ever since.

I still enjoy SAO. I'm still keeping up with the new episodes. Sadly, I still haven't read the original light novels. I've seen the entire anime series thus far, and the side series as well. I see where the show could be better and why some things don't make any sense. And that even includes the Aincrad Arc. I'm new to light novels still. I've been reading Highschool DxD. I stopped abruptly though back towards the end of August because of an incident. So now I need to restart. I stopped at Volume 10 Chapter 5, but my memory is like pretty bad. I know most of what happened but it's also a little fuzzy in my head. So going to restart there. And also planning on reading "No Game, No Life". (Also, it's all one comment because I didn't feel like cracking open a new comment since this video is ending and the next one is about to begin. & I love your videos and content.-Just Saying)

The anime adaptations of To-Love Ru and Love Hina are some of the things that extended the Manga > Anime stance I already had for long form Shounen to every other genre too. That also drove me to reading the Manga adaptation of SAO vol. 1 before the anime. That had the distinct advantage of containing none of the vol. 2 sidetracks the Anime weaved in. I liked it.

I liked SAO when I first watched it, and I still feel like it's better than what a lot of people think, but I can see why it wouldn't be considered that great a series. But I feel like it isn't really bad for the reasons most people give. The biggest complaint most give is that Kirito's a Gary Stu, among other things, but I think that the main problem was the rushed storyline. It wasn't necessarily that the characters were inherently uninteresting, it's just that the series rushed through the story too quickly to really show the viewers any satisfying character development. I actually liked the infamous fairy dance arc better then the first one because at least the story was told fairly well, even if the content of the story was fairly questionable at that point. The fight scenes where also underwhelming. In the light novel, it talks in detail about every sword skill and technique used, describing the combat system as similar to a fighting game with combos, counters, and special attacks, but in the anime most of them were just two people hitting each other until Kirito wins. If the anime spent more time actually explaining what was happening in the fights it would seem a lot less like Kirito's just cutting though everything easily because protagonist. It might not be very good, but I feel like SAO had a lot of potential, and I think that if it had done a few things differently, like going through the Aincrad arc at a slower pace (specifically pacing out the romance), adding filler episodes to develop the side characters more, and having more interesting fight scenes, it could have been a truly great series.

SAO is like the COD of Anime. There are always those people who feel superior when they bitch about something popular. In my opinion SAO isn't something like the greatest show of the current decade, but it delivers constant quality much like COD. Kirito and Asuna have a more mature relationship than 99% of the other animes out there.

Watched them both on my earliest anime days (2010) and I still love them to a T till this day everytime I rewatch them. Just. Perfection. And yeah, same opinion on SAO too, I actually still love the first 4 SAO episodes even now but the rest.... urgh. I loved all of it when it first came out but after I got turned off by ALO arc and rewatched the Aincrad arc, yeah... it's only the first 4 episodes that I like till now. (Sachiiii 😭)

I love Sao it was my first anime and is close to my heart and introduced me to the dozens of shows I watch now, I admit the Alfheim online ending was not the best but everything else was amazing and what you were saying about how the show just changed its narrative and story theme, but in season 3 this is completely changed and it’s got the narrative structure of the first 5 episodes of the aincrad arc throughout the whole season and I believe it is the best season of Sao and can’t wait for season 4 aka season 3 part 2 In Fall 2019

If anything, it’s more like a box of chocolate: at first, it brings you some enjoyment to you when you start eating it, but after a while the taste starts to slowly fade till it’s no longer that appealing and simply okay. What you said about SAO I relate to a lot except with Fairy Tail. Not only it was one of the first anime I’ve seen but I genuinely liked it. I loved how badass it made mages as a concept and it did felt at home as I played a lot of Dungeons & Dragons. Just a dumb party of battlemages who rolling way too many twenties. It was until the Grimoire Heart where it started to make me feel a bit frustrated but I stilled enjoyed it. As for Eden Zero.. Never liked Sci-fi anyways.

My story of how I changed my mind about anime began sometime in my 14 years. Before, I kept telling me it was useless and wrong. Everyone around me hated it. But then I coaxed in and saw a few episodes of darling in the franxx, konosuba and others. Then I completely fell for it, and I spend my free time watching anime, and I absolutely love it.

Steins Gate- Dropped it after the first few episodes. Rewatched it about a year later and its been in my top 3 fav anime of all times ever since. Makise Kurisu and Okabe Rintarou (Fav Couple bar None!) are amongst my fav female and male characters of all times, respectively, as well. Even the VAs Kana Hanazawa voicing Mayushii and Miyano Mamoru voicing Okabe are amongst my all time fav VAs. This show also made me develop a deep appreciation for character interactions even mundane ones- subtle gestures, expressions, relationship chemistry and dynamics. It got to the point where I constantly searched for shows with similar level of attention to detail in char interactions and got me to explore genres like slice of life, drama, romance, psychological etc, that I initially found dull. It pretty much changed my tastes in media consumption from fast, thrill seeking- action adventure kind to slowburn, detail oriented- mystery drama type and that influence only became bigger as I grew older. From Anime to Korean dramas, TV shows to KZbin contents, it snowballed eventually to even my tastes in music. 7 years forward and my fav anime genre today is Slice of life which was my least fav when i initially got into anime coz of Naruto. Now that i think back to it, its quite the bizarre butterfly effect lmao Who'd have known? that one anime that i almost missed out on, actually ended up changing my life in the most unexpected of ways...

I appreciate mentioning Kaede from Shuffle... I remember playing VN, getting it from friend with some other VNs... mainly those from Key and the step from Kanon to Shuffle scarred me... Also I will always defend anything Haruhi, after watching first season I read LNs... I watched SAO when it was first coming out, and I quite enjoyed it. The first arc I thought was great, and I loved the designs of the characters and weapons. Then we got Alfheim and I was taken aback, and then I never really watched the second season and then heard all the crap that was wrong with it and was "Nah, fam, I'm done." Another anime series was Rosario + Vampire. I loved that series so much and I wanted everyone to watch it and then I read the manga and was like "No, don't watch this, read the manga, it's so much better." I'm not usually one of the people who says the manga is inherently better than the anime, but I was in this case. I really liked One Piece as a kid and wanted to keep up, never could. Then I hit that age in middle school where you're like "I'm too old for this, it's all for kids" and started to not like it. Now I can say, I like One Piece, will I ever catch up with it, probably not. But I still like it.

I remember first watching Jojo. Just after loving part 2, I hated part 3 sooooo much. No hamon, no explanation for the change to these stand things, and it felt like it dragged on forever. Part 2 felt like a much more tightly woven narrative with fun characters, part 3 felt like shallow villain of the week until we get to Dio (which was the only thing I cared about). But rewatching part 3 now, already knowing what happens, I think I was able to enjoy the ride much more than before. I already knew where the plot went so i didn't mind spending time getting there, and each episode was a lot of fun.

My thoughts: 1. To love Ru: Never watched it I tried it but never got into it. I do have to say though, the artstyle at least you showed here and the part I've seen (half of the first episode?) has aged quite well imo. 2. Corpse Party was... weird... I watched it, but can't remember much of it except but for how gruesome it was 3. Never watched it, yay 4. What... This is one of the few Anime I ACTIVELY dropped. No character was interesting and it was just "cliché the series". I dropped it at the "Bandit girl that is actually cute and getting forced into it"-trope. 5. I loved Haruhi from start to finish ~ Even the endless eight, although your opinion on that is more than understandable 6. Huh... It's rare to hear even praise to Umineko nowadays. I did like it and didn't find it all that gruesome, but I have to admit that I wouldn't recommend it either, for the in medias res ending alone. But there is quite a lot of unwarranted hate towards it and it's definitely better than many want you to believe. 7. Communities around a show never really bother me. I can't remember what you said about Yuno, but I like her. Not for the "I want a crazy Yandere girlfriend" reason (because I never think about any characters in that way" but simply because I enjoy broken characters and Yuno is a prime example of batshit insane. 8. Yup, never heard of it 9. I just think it's a decent Anime. The funny thing is that noone seems to agree on what the bad part is. I heard "Good start bad end" and "Bad start good end" so often... 10. Sao is a slightly above average anime, that's it. Is it good? Nope. But I have yet to hear much valid criticism. E.g. I've seen so much criticism of the Animation where they complain that Blur-scenes are not beautifully animated. I could take nearly all over-the-top Criticism of it and put another popular Anime over it simply cherry picking other scenes.

I completely changed my mind on Attack on Titan after I knew what happens in the manga. I don't like shounen anime, I'm more into slower-paced, complex anime like Steins;Gate, so when I first saw AoT I only thought it was ok, the animation was amazing but the story not that much. But when I found out how deep and complex the manga gets, holy shit, that completely changed my perception of AoT. I can't wait to see these events in the anime!

You know, I'm really happy that you made this video, even though I don't know most of the anime that are in there, because it really highlights one thing: It's "in" to bash SAO and that's what most of the commenters of these kinds of videos are doing. I'm not going to argue about opinions and stuff, thinking that SAO is bad is just a valid opinion to have, just like I think that after Dragonball Z, the whole franchise is just dragging on and on and on without any rhyme or reason. What I'm upset about, is just how godawful people get about this kind of thing. Okay, I watched SAO again not long ago together with my girlfriend and I have to say, there's really nothing obvious to hate, besides the really half-assed attempt at introducing harem members to a harem, that actually doesn't exist, because Kirito doesn't play like that. But just because of that I wouldn't call it a bad show. I would never compare it to the really good and popular shows (with an obvious distinction between "good" and "popular") and it's not a show that I'd go all fanboy over, but it's not bad either. It has the same right to exist as the hundrets over hundrets of slice of lifes and romcoms that I'm kind of sick of at this point in time

I used to like Vampire Knight. I was a young girl just getting into anime, back when everything I watched was basically good in my eyes. Looking back at it, I realize the only interesting character was Zero, Kaname and Yuki were both unlikeable, and the rest of the characters were all forgettable(literally can’t name a single other character) and boring. Don’t have much else to say though since the series in general is so forgettable to me.

I've never watched the entirety of it, but I spotted it on Netflix and I tried it a bit. I gave it a good few episodes. I would have stopped at episode 3, but like you said, Zero is interesting. His suffering was so sweet to witness, and I see how I could have loved it as a teenager.

Mariana Leon true. I still like it mostly because of Zero and sentiment because it was my first anime that I knew was an anime xD Yuki was.. Bland, a glirl that tried to be strong and tried to help everyone. Besides from Zero I remember liking the relation between Shizuka and Zero's brother Ichiru cuz it was so weird and kinda sad

The author of SAO said that he realized the mistakes he made with the first 2 seasons of SAO and wants to change that with the upcoming SAO season 3 alicization

I used to hold Inuyasha on a really high pedastel, but now I have it comfortably in an "Honorable Mentions" category, because I've watched many other series and have expanded my horizons on storytelling, character development, and animation.

I have seen around 54+ anime since I started watching anime when I was 15 (26 now). I still haven't watched it. I have 2 anime I'm currently and 60 on my too watch list on MAL. Rosario vampire manga is really good, the anime picks it apart and destroys it, I think the mc name is like tsuksomething? And he gets amazing ghoul powers later, the anime just has him get beat up and a harem.
