Not a specific card but having Ultis in Duelist Pack Kaiba and not in DP Yugi and releasing cards we see in the anime many years later for example: Dark Rabbit, Seal of Orichalcos, Blue Eyes Ultimate, Five Headed Dragon, Kunai with Chain etc.

1 missed opportunity (my personal favorite one) was that there was not a release of Meteor B. Dragon in a old-fashion card layout design. Im no fan of the card design from mid-5ds and onwards in which Meteor B. Dragon was released in 2012. They could've released it in a tournament pack as a ultra rare to replace luminous soldier or at least replace it with holo cards from any later tournament packs that were just reprints of previous tournament packs. I'll never forgive Konami or Upper Deck for not giving us that opportunity.

Magician Black Chaos and Black Luster Soldier Rituals not having that collectable CHASE as Dark Paladin is just CRIMINAL..... those 3 cards are so iconic and the coolest and baddess characters in the original dual monsters!!!

I feel the first reprint of Red Eyes Black and Relinquished, after coming out from the sets, deserved alternate arts for the starter decks of Joey and Pegasus respectfully (or other way around), that the former two icon deck monsters obviously did when reprinted with alternate chaser art in the LOB set. I may have got the chronology of the releases wrong but you get the idea. SDJ Red-Eyes and SDP Relinquished for it's time were shortcuts to obtaining in which there real chase cards were Scapegoat and Graceful Charity, respectfully.

Don’t forget that Konami printed LOB art Blue Eyes again in FL1! That was their chance to make up for it and the missed again! One massive opportunity lost for me is having ultimate rares in DPKB but not DPYG. Imagine if we had got ulti BLS, DMOC, Monster Reborn, Mirror Force etc. Would have made that set so dope!

Great list… Agree with everything you said. To me, Magician of Black Chaos, BLS, and Blue-eyes Ultimate hurt the most. Some DM cards I would add are- Mystical Beast of Serket (didn’t even get a printing until 2010s!!) Virtual world saga- Five Headed Dragon (starter deck special edition) Nightmare Penguin (one of the deck masters for big 5 only got a common) Deepsea Warrior (one of the deck masters for big 5 only got a common) Guardian Eatos missing from Dark crisis with all the other guardians. And tell me I’m wrong but I felt they could have done the legendary dragons arc as a booster set before gx began.

Definitely agree with the last one! I've always said that I hope an ex Konami or Upper Deck employee is interviewed one day and reveals why they used LOB Blue Eyes art twice for the BPT tins. I've always thought that it was to protect the prestige of DDS but, then again, I'm not sure these cards were regarded that way back in the day by Konami or even the players (before they were worth crazy money). As for BLS, it's even worse when you consider the play side of the game because I'm pretty sure the ritual and Envoy in IOC were released around the same time, meaning the original version was immediately redundant and overshadowed.

I definitely agree with this list here. And as a Blue-Eyes collector, I WHOLEHEARTEDLY agree that Konami fumbled hard on the first Blue-Eyes Tin. I remember opening that Tin all those years ago and going, “...wait?...why isn’t it the same art like on the tin? Huh?!?” Also explains more why DDS Blue-Eyes is so much more sought after. Great list, man! Would love to know more fails Konami did. Maybe on the OCG side if there are any.

Man...don' get me wrong, I love Tri-Horned Dragon but that secret rare slot belonged to Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon. Also, I think Red Dragon Archfiend, Black Luster Soldier, Magician Of Black Chaos, Junk Warrior and Elemental Hero Neos were the cards that Konami did extremely dirty, unacceptable.

Also - i think they missed a great opportunity to go all in on the "Metal" theme in metal raiders: - Red Eyes Metal as a secret - Zoa Super Rare / Metal Zoa Ultra - Metalmorph - Cyber Harpie Lady - Harpies Pet Dragon - Slot Machine foil Great video - can tell how passionate you are about this topic as are so many of us! Also the great moth line should have been better looked after and all in Magic Ruler / Metal Raiders - Great Moth as a super and Perfectly Ultimate as an ultra.

I'd argue that Five-Headed Dragon and Seal of Orichalcos were both done very dirty, especially Seal. Imagine if it were one of those secret rares in yugi's world with pull rates akin to the Dark Magician Girl. As for Five-Headed Dragon, I always thought it would have been perfect as a secret rare over the Judgement of Anubis, especially since Mirage knight and Berserk Dragon were also in that set.

I'd say Yubel was done dirty, sure it got a secret rare printing in Legendary Collection 2 but who even talks or chases the card? Konami dropped the ball hard not having Yubel as Ghost Rare in Phantom Darkness. Probably in my opinion one of the most iconic villains in all of Yu-Gi-Oh!

Gotta heavily disagree on the overall message and vibe of this video. A majority of players (especially in the earlier eras of the game this video discusses) weren't high-end collectors, and instead wanted to collect cards to play with, or because they were their favourites. Not everyone wants to speculate and gatekeep every single significant card in the game's history. I love Magician Of Black Chaos too. Know why? Because as a kid, I was actually able to obtain the card in an accessible manner, instead of it being yet another chase secret rare. My man literally didn't even remember the name of the Signer (not "Siren") Dragons, yet is mad that Upper Deck in 2008 made famous cards from the anime accessible for literal kids?

About 6 months ago I upgraded my playset of Magician of Black Chaos and Black Magic Ritual to euro print copies from pp01 and man the euro print versions slaps. They look so much crispier than their North American counterparts and I managed to buy them for a good price and all in mint condition I highly recommend you looking for the euro version of magician of black chaos and black magic ritual if you haven’t. The thing is, you need to make some cool cards accessible to the public. The "badassness" has to be distributed evenly. If you only make trash cards accessible to the general public, you lose profit. We have to remember that the general public is what drives revenue, and not collectors. Also, I think contrast is important and what drives the interest in the product. Hobby packs have DMG, retail have diffusion wave motion - yes, the latter is trash, but the contrast is what makes the hobby packs so sought after and increases the wow factor of DMG. All that said, I agree with your sentiments as a collector myself and enjoy watching this type of content.

When it comes to the icons, Blue-Eyes Ultimate, Five God Dragon and Master Dragon Knight are underrated and utterly shafted when it comes to releases. Imagine getting Kaiser Sea Horse over Blue-Eyes Ultimate, let alone getting Tri-Horned D. All 3 of those 'gods' suffer with set neglect. But on the Japanese side. Different story altogether. My introduction to Ultimate was the gorgeous Ultimate rare in the Kaiba deck equivalent and in reent times there's been a beautiful and expensive af PScR Master Dragon Knight which mogs all it's former variations to oblivion.

I can only imagine how sick DDS would be with red eyes or BPT would be with OG art blue. The value of all those cards would probably raise. It’s not the best thing ever, but at this point the only way to do a lot of these cards Justice is with the starlight rarity. Ultis today look like shit, ghosts look like shit now, at least starlights are still fairly collectible and look good. But instead we usually get 2-3 junk starlights and 1-2 good starlights per set.
