he asked his coach each year, how are you going to make me better. that might explain a little bit why his long-time coach's leaving. he's been sitting on the top of tennis world for so many years, he seems in perfect form, but he is still seeking improvement. in 2019 he invited Goren(whose serve was best in his playing time) on board and in 2020 his serve in AO was visibly better in placement. he's simply a cold-blooded killer who tries to sharpen his knives all the time.

@@Loshmitebraaa his preparation is vastly different. The backhand is somewhat similar, whereas the serve and the forehand are almost unrecognizable. On his serve he used to arch very far, sort of Herbert-like, now he doesn't do it anymore. Over the years he has refined further and further his shots, now he looks much cleaner, smoother, and effortless. The same goes for Federer, if you watch his 2005 backhand it is very different from the later years (looks like he is snapping his wrist more freely, giving the backhand more topspin)

@laurea3intempo222
@laurea3intempo222 Жыл бұрын
@@vertbeke7977 In terms of technique, I think so. Of course he lost something physically (even if it doesn't look like it), as did Nadal, but they were able to compensate in other areas to continue staying at the top. Then, the definition of "better" is too broad to simply say "2021 Djokovic would beat 2012 Djokovic". Especially with Djokovic, he is the kind of player that will find a way to be slightly better than his opponent on the day of the match, so his overall level is very influenced by the level of his opponents. Not that he can't trash other players (as he did to De Minaur), but by exposing your weaknesses and making you play badly, he always finds a way. Against tsitsipas, berrettini, etc.. he doesn't need to do the same things that beating Nadal at RG 2021, Federer in 2015 or Wimbledon 2019 took. We'll see against Alcaraz and (hopefully, as an Italian) Sinner how fares

His mastery of the opponent, the suffering of Nadal who has great difficulty keeping up, hurts the eyes.... An astonishing demonstration of power and precision.... 6-1 6-2 against Nadal....just the score...... Nadal later said he had never seen such a level of play in his entire career....
