Be on time. Be presentable. Bring some documents (such as criminal records). Be happy (let personality come through). Be honest (but not too honest) Smile. Follow through.

The parents have to be honest and be put together also because they are being interviewed by the Nanny wondering they want to work for that family.

I know this is about interviews but I received an offer that starts in three months. I requested a retainer and the family is ok with offering a retainer. I’m wondering how to calculate this? No agency involved.
@TheNannySolution2 ай бұрын
Do you mean a retainer or a bonus for holding your availability for them? A retainer is advance payment for future work. So if you asked for $1,200 retainer fee and you charge $30 per hour. That will mean you do not get paid for your first week of work. But if you charge a bonus for signing the contract then you would get paid as normal your first week.
@JenniferS-r1w2 ай бұрын
@ ahhh I guess I hadn’t thought of it that way. I used the term retainer with the family but I guess what I should had suggested was a sign on bonus. Perhaps this is what I should say moving forward with potential families. So if I do a sign on bonus ( essentially to reserve my schedule for them) this is mines to keep and would not affect my pay in any way? Any recommendations or how to go about this? And what to charge?

Really think about that. Try a live out nanny position first. People can be really different nowadays so definitely interview the parents, thoroughly!
