To tip #2, you can actually use Amplify Magic on all encounters except LDW, Council, BQL, and Valithria (aside putting it on the boss for bigger heals). It was discovered that the spell specifically has to be a direct spell like Frostbolt or Shadowbolt as examples for what Amplify Magic affects. Auras, AoE, and a few other specific spells are not affected by Amplify Magic.

You shouldnt do this on 9/12 bosses in ICC damage output is very mixed on lots of fights and more often this will cause more harm than good

@@Leeroyboopin This was theorycrafted by people within the mage discord. If the spell is not specified as true (basically 0 or 1 in coding), it won't meet the condition that amplify magic puts in place. So using Sindragosa as an example, you might assume that the frost aura, magic buffet, and breath would be boosted by amp magic. But in fact it does not. You would need something that does a directed hit like frostbolt volley from Lady Deathwhisper. So I laid out where amp magic can be used in ICC which the spreadsheet in the discord indicates the damage differences.

@@juvygenius it also does affect a lot of other mechanics im aware of the mage discord discussion. But it still comes down to personal responsibility to have a cancel aura macro on a LOT of the fights this was a discussion way back in the day too and the verdict for the majority of good mages was to just leave it alone... Its not necessary and adds more trouble than it boosts

What macro/addon do you use to buff amplify magic with a click on frames? I fucking hate this buff so bad..

Well, I don"r rly use anything .. I just keep Amplify Magic on 2nd hidden action bar and when I go for buffing I scroll on that and click through all targets while mashing the hotkey. :) But I believe that many raid frames addons provide option to bind buff on direct mouse clicks if needed. (Healbot comes to my mind as I use it for healing classes, but it might be a bit overkill for something so occasional. :) )
