Current phoenix labs animator here (NOT on Project Dragon): Couple things to add, the team working on Dragon was not only the best at our studio but some of the most impressive people I've ever come across in the industry. The amount of competency and skill was inspiring, I loved checking their art channels on slack to see how far the bar could go. If you thought the art looked good, you should have had the chance to play it. I spent hours on the holiday playtest. Near the ship date for Dragon, a few of our teammates were pulled off of other projects to help them ship. When the layoffs came, we lost them too. We're still feeling the hole and knowledge left from that crop of folk getting let go.

In a world, where every game looks more or less the same, we need this. This is so pretty and interesting I would so love to play this game

Looks like a much better looking TROVE, would actually try it.

Alright Thor, your speech gives Project Dragon advantage on their death save (rules lawyers shhh I'm DMing this scene). As always, Anyone within hearing range of your speech now has their creature type changed to goblinoid with the ability to join with other goblins to become a 'chat'. They also receive a D12 of inspiration to use somewhere in their sessions; inspiration disappears after a long rest. Well rolled Thor!

very similar to what happened to the game Sky Saga, the game was months away from release but the company was acquired by a Chinese mega corporation and was shut down, such a waste

I love this artstyle and I have been wanting a Voxel game to re explore like minecraft and this looks super fun.

My heart broke while watching this video :( the art style is gorgeous and it looks like the team really poured so much soul into it. It really hammers home the importance of doing a better job choosing your employer. You must interview them as much as they interview you. A rug pull like this probably could have been spotted early.

The entire AAA games industry is like this (except valve as long as Gaben is alive)

some of these designs feel like what pokemon felt as a kid, im not the biggest fan of the voxel style but they executed this so extremly well. The amount of creativity these artists showed is sth I aspire to have one day. What a shame honestly.

That’s a game worth saving!!

My only hope is that the artists that worked on this game have the capability to add these incredible works of art to their portfolios. Any company that saw those character designs would be damn lucky to have them and hopefully they got snapped up damn quick.

I hate capitalism so much. The very idea that artists poured their hearts and souls into this and then the game was potentially cancelled all the while for a tax write off shows how unbelievably bad the current industry is for this art medium.

Man I miss Spiral Knights... Spiral Knights: "I'm not dead" I can still hear it's OST...

Hm, I wonder, even if ya got the IP, the shareholders own anything from the game that would prevent them from working on it? Though even though if they do, not sure if it's a good idea to showcase this on twitter. Yeah sure it forces responsibility, but the public will have their own idea's of what the game was going to be like which I'm sure is not what the dev's wanted for their game. But honestly, this is nothing new in the game's industry, it's just one of the few that came to the public eye.
