My son watched your videos last year. He applied this year to UChicago as International RD. Against my advice, he wrote 5-page essays to show his fit: "the freedom of speech includes the freedom to be longwinded." He is headed to the Hyde Park. I would like to thank you.

@machikr7 ай бұрын
@@thiagogregory1 I don't know. When I asked him, he said he had so much to write about UChicago.
@thiagogregory17 ай бұрын
@@machikr But how does that work? Did he submit it as additional document or something? Because the default supplemental have word limit
@machikr7 ай бұрын
@@thiagogregory1 [I just looked up myself wondering the same] Is there a word limit or suggested word limit to your essay responses? We suggest that you note any word limits for Coalition or Common Application essays; however, there are no strict word limits on the UChicago Supplement essays. For the extended essay (where you choose one of several prompts), we suggest that you aim for around 650 words. While we won't, as a rule, stop reading after 650 words, we're only human and cannot promise that an overly wordy essay will hold our attention indefinitely. For the “Why UChicago?” essay, we suggest about 250-500 words. The ideas in your writing matter more than the exact number of words you use!

Enough with the HYP, HYPS, HYSPM, CHYMPS, etc. Needless prestige arms race based on arbitrary distinctions. The schools are not more selective than their peers in the top 10ish schools. I know they have the most money. The difference only really matters to people who populate college confidential forums

Can you clarify what you mean by over-represented groups in terms of applying to business school? Does this mean do not apply to business school eventhough that’s the desired major?
@brookifyd Жыл бұрын
No you have to apply to things if that's what you really want but if you're 50/50 and have little on your resume to support it, don't tell me you want to go to Wharton. Transfer in later.

I think they all interview applicants. So, you have to show what you bring to the institution. If you can walk on water explain how walking on water would benefit the institution, for example, that would set you apart from every other applicant.

What do you mean by UChicago is the easiest Top 10 school to get into? Are you going by US News? Then wouldn't JHU and Northwestern be "easier" (though still hard in absolute terms)? Disclaimer: I was accepted ED1 at UChicago.
@leolrg2783 Жыл бұрын
i'd say that jhu and uchicago are the easiest for ED1
@brookifyd Жыл бұрын
I mean it's the easiest to get into if you ED and know how to play the game. If you ED to UChicago your admit rate I think is higher than ED to JHU or Northwestern. But UChicago does TONS of advertising to drive up its RD pool and then shrink its overall admit rate. It doesn't disclose data on who/how many it admits ED as other schools do. So yes I mean it is the easiest to get into. Obviously not if you RD, though.
@Squee-g8f Жыл бұрын
Uchicago has ED1, and they fill most of their class in that round. Others don't. It's by far the easiest for that reason.
@Slack3rG3nius Жыл бұрын
UChicago is the easiest to get in early (particularly ED1) but UChicago is very very hard to get in RD - arguably even more difficult than HYPSM since UChicago has filled up most of its class ED1/EA/ED2

American education is broken from elementary school to college. Don't throw your parents' hard-earned money on a system that is not working. It's not worth spending hundreds of thousands of dollars to go to one of these top ten schools. If you are still obsessed about the top 10, make sure that they give you the financial aid or scholarship. Don't pay for the insane tuition price they want to charge you.

Nearly half of American high school students-47%, to be exact-are graduating with grades ranging from A+ to A-, according to a study released this week. The report, coauthored by a member of the SAT administering College Board and a doctoral student of higher education, found that while high-school students' average GAs have soared, SAT scores have slipped noticeably over the past decade.
