*Here are the tips in text:* (some of them may be in wrong order, or weren't entire tips let me know if there is a mistake) 1. Try audiobooks 2. Choose a small book 3. Pick something you're interested in and isn't too complicated *sub tip: don't make reading a chore 4. Don't read in a comfortable place or position (so you don't fall asleep) 5. Keep phone and any other distraction away 6. Set an allotted time for reading (with realistic goals 50 pages in a week etc., set a reward) 7. Try and read at the same time every day (to form habits) 8. Join a book club, buddy read 9. Teach yourself to speed read 10. Give yourself a book buying ban 11. Don't be afraid to DNF books (don't force yourself to read something you don't enjoy) Love your channel Hailey :)

Overdrive has this one called Libby! You can borrow ebooks as well as audiobooks from your local library! You can also register than one library card, so you can have many libraries all in one app for what you're looking for!
@kellyreadingbooks5 жыл бұрын
Ana C. Do you know the difference between Overdrive and Libby? I got a pop up saying to download it and use it instead of overdrive so I thought they were transitioning but I have just continued to use overdrive
@anac.48015 жыл бұрын
@@kellyreadingbooks They said they aren't transitioning. They're keeping both apps. Libby is just more mobile user friendly. I believe you can also use Overdrive on desktop (unlike libby). But I'm sure they'll be working on that.

I love these tips (don’t need them I finish about 4 books a week) but I still think they are great advice. My only negative thought is if you are only reading 50 pages a week you don’t really want to read. I think a tip that needs to be identified is “do you really WANT to read?” Or are you just feeling like you should.

Having a book read to you is the best! It’s partly where my love of books came from. When I was really young I was read to nightly by my step mum while she was teaching me how to read she read the first 3 Harry Potter books to me. I actually would read ahead of where she’d read to me and one night when I was 6 I accidentally read from 8pm to 11pm when she went to bed and she walked past my door and caught me reading so that explains so much. I’m having to read the last 2 books in the To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before trilogy quite quickly as my sister is reading them and she’s not a reader but she’s read 2 books this year already. So I have to read the quicker than I had previously anticipated so I’m having to put of reading Crooked Kingdom but it’s a good thing because I’m reading more and she’s reading more. Thank you for talking about these books because if I hadn’t seen you talking about them I’d never have read them/ bought them and my sister wouldn’t be having a good time reading. Much love Hailey thank you as well because you’ve broadened my reading horizons these past few years and I’ve read so much more than I would’ve without your recommendations. So much variety of books. You’re amazing!

Thank you so much Hailey. I usually think of the dnf of books as a dismissal, but I don't utilize it when I am losing interest in a book , but I plan to finish it. I may need to think of it as hitting pause. I am use to reading a book straight through, but some books I may need to take a break from even if it is a few days or weeks in some cases. I also need to listen to audio books at lot more. I love audio books because you can listen and do task at the same time. I can't do that when I am reading.

Finally gave a try to audiobooks and I really enjoy it. In times when I go shopping, for example, I can listen to a book instead of just having random thoughts in my head and it's double productive, basically. I'm already up to 3 audio and I put a bunch on a wish list. I tend to always read in bed, just before it's time to sleep. I read about 2 chapters a night, depending when I go to bed and it works about 80% of the time. It's really good.

audio books are cool, you get the distinct sounds of the characters voices and you may hear, for example, the distant sound of the train's whistle, but it is not reading. read on the train, in the waiting room, in between meetings, during lunch, before bed, before leaving for work, before the show or movie starts, while waiting for someone...getup early on Saturday or your day off and enjoy it.

I tend to read before I go to bed and during ad breaks when I'm watching tv. I find I can read a lot more doing that. I listen to audiobooks when I'm cooking and cleaning or if I'm on public transport since I get motion sickness if I read a physical book. I also like to break up bigger books by reading shorter/easier things like manga or poetry to I feel like I have momentum going.

Audiobooks really saved me. I need to travel two hours to get to college, and two hours to get back. Most of the time that involves being on a train at rush hour, having to stand up and having my personal space invaded. So when I can't hold a physical book, or am too tired after a long day to do so, I'll pop on my headphones and listen to an Audiobook. It is so relaxing while still using that time to its full potential. Right now I'm listening to Michelle Obama reading her own book 'Becoming' which is so inspiring.
