Your videos are gold dude ! would call myself a intermidiate rider but I have tried a lot of your tips, including tricktips, great work. I tweaked my stance last season after riding cowboy 4 years.... Turn initiation and general control gets boosted times 3 when NOT standing like a gangster toad. (even though it looks kinda cool!!) Keep up the good work, looking forward to the nxt ones =)

i watched this video early into my first season. Didnt really understand what you meant about any of it. Now into my second season so many of these make so much more sense. There was little things i was picking up on but had no idea how to explain it. Especially with the tip for pressure though the knees. This video is great! Thanks a ton!!!

Man these videos are great. I have been on a board one time which was yesterday and I am going for it again tomorrow. I am a bit sore but I keep watching your videos and I already know my Do"s and Donts. I guess I missed the part about knee control switching from heel to toe and now I completely understand. Maybe on another Beginner video you should go into more detail on why the knee plays a big role in turning. Hey man I found a new hobby and a online instructer that I will probably never meet. Thanks a million bro.

Theses are good tips. Especially for beginners. I would add to this (and I consider myslelf an intermediate snowboarder) keep your eight downhill heading into your turns. Transfer weight to your front foot and steer with your back. Sound right? Corrections welcome

I love your tutorials. I am having trouble doing my turns on the steeper blue runs. I can do them for a few runs then if i fall I then loose my confidence and feel scared the minute my board is facing down hill. Once i get a turn in I can get in to a rhythm using my feet like paddles , weight through my front foot and my knees to turn.I just have no idea how to get my confidence up because I know I can do it, its just the falling that hurts bad !

In the snowboard school I've been taught to flex my knees on turns and extend on transitions. That applies to hard snow conditions. In the slush/sloppy snow it is the opposite. Have you heard about this technique?
@SnowboardProCamp9 жыл бұрын
Vitaly Savicks Yeah, I think they're called Down Unweighted turns. You can do them in all snow conditions. The idea is the you extented your legs around a turn to create pressure on your board, then release it by bending your knees in the transition. I guess in slushy snow they would be useful for pushing the snow around. It's a great technique for riding power too. This is the type of turn I ride with most often when freeriding. Have you tried it on hard snow before?
@vitalysavicks67569 жыл бұрын
SnowboardProCamp Thanks for the reply! I have first learned it from an instructor. Was interesting to know that technique is radically different for different snow conditions.

No one ever talks about how to change from te to heel or vice versa while carving. Being a beginner when I reach a certain speed and change from heel to toe i fall. What am i suppose to be doing with my front/back foot when making the change so I can maintain my speed. Basically what are my front and back foot doing during a turn?

A lot of good stuff is mentioned at this video. But i spotted a common mistake you make during your backside turn. You move your hips to front but lean back your upper body. If you want to put more weight on your nose move your hips forward and keep your upper body straight :D Stop the video at 3:49 to see what i mean. Anyways keep up the good work man!

Thanks for all the good tips! I've mustered up the courage to go on Blue runs at the start of this season. However, there was quite a bit of ice on the upper parts of the run over at Grouse. Do you have any tips on turning on icy areas?
@SnowboardProCamp9 жыл бұрын
Barry Ho Riding on ice is tough. I always try to avoid it if I can. I think the best tip for ice is Tip number 5 in this video. If you can keep your weight centered as you ride over the ice then you shouldn't slide out. You also don't want to edge very much on ice. If I've got my camera with me on an icy day, i'll make a "how to ride on ice" video. Might see ya on Grouse!
@RouteZeroDesign9 жыл бұрын
SnowboardProCamp A guide for riding on ice would be really great. I've only been boarding twice and both times were near the end of the season. I had a fair amount of ice to deal with and had a few bad falls trying to slow down on ice as there was just nothing for the board to bite into. Thanks for your excellent videos, they really help a lot!

Lol my issue is that I like to go down fast, and when I see a turn( left or right ), i panic and just dig my board(heels) into the snow to brake and throw my self on my back to stop. Any advice or tips? Also, I ride with my left foot in front, so sharp right turns going a decent speed are a bit hard for me. I always fall forward, OR slow down almost completely, and turn really slowly... Unlike when i turn to the left , i feel more confident and ride and turn at high speeds( sometimes falling , but not a good deal xD )
@bringmethebud8 жыл бұрын
yes, always carve and stop gaining speed. gain speeed as you carve and you will naturally understand how to turn while you carve and gain speed at the same time.

I keep catching edges and the back of my board likes to start to spin to the front as if I were doing a heel side stop and I dont know what I'm doing wrong
@BrianReynolds1238 жыл бұрын
To avoid catching edges you need to keep your weight centered over your working edge (uphill edge) and keep your body stacked. (Head over shoulders, over hips, over your knees and board). The reason you're spinning is because when you do your turn, you're not managing pressure along the whole edge. You're only digging in one heel instead of both. Remember when you go sideways, in order to keep that board from rotating, put equal pressure on both of your heels.
