Scissors in the kitchen is a game changer- It's something I wish I had done even before having a kid. Love the 'No Bowl' idea- going to try in a few months when my son is a bit older. My son is currently 9.5 months old, but I'm looking forward to getting him involved in the kitchen when he's a bit older and you are one of the only people I've seen mention that consistently so thank you!!

with the scissors , it's a hack for life. before sitting on the table i even cut all of MY meat at once with a pair so i won't have to do it as i eat haha. Also, get multiples, ikea has that colourful pack with 3, get some sets and keep it in a cup on the counter for easy access. I've washed them multiple times on the dishwasher and they look new.

I tired the 'no thank you' bowl with my 2yo twins tonight. They aren't too picky but definately have their moments. Tonight was a moment. While I was explaining the bowl process to them, hubby's said that us a great idea, where did you find that? All while I was telling him about your video, miss 2 tried some of her fave veggies and said "no thank you mummy, I don't like it" tipped the whole plate into the bowl and said 'no thank you, not tonight' 🥴 Mr 2 the n copied and they both walked away hand in hand. I guess we will try again tomorrow. Thank you for sharing the idea.

My stepson of 9 is incredibly picky about food, I hope these hacks will reduce my stress concerning mealtimes… he literally won’t try anything new, he always want the same foods/textures and none of them are healthy choices… the only way I can control it a bit is by sneaking in hidden veggies in my spaghetti sauce or use less sugar in my homemade apple sauce instead of using store bought… I know I probably shouldn’t blame his mother but it actually is her fault… she only gives him pre-made packaged meals, junkfood and unhealthy options… I really hope he’ll turnout like his father - my husband - bc he loves every single dish I put in front of him… even things he has never had before ; he devoured everything since we moved in together! Such a joy to cook for him ❤
@HealthNutNutrition Жыл бұрын
it can be hard to transition their taste buds at first if they are use to only packaged foods as they usually contain more salt and sugars to make them extra tasty. Definitely try the snack plate and showing food combinations to intro new foods.

Can we have a video on your journey? Did Sage became a picky eater over time after being a good eater as a baby. How has that affected you. I know you touched on this. Realistic day in the life of eating
@kaiju_k5042 Жыл бұрын
Great tips, my almost 2.5 year old is so fussy now, omgosh, he could eat a ham and cheese baguette sandwich every day twice a day if I'd let him, used to love eggs and now will touch them and make a face as if I'm serving him a frog.. love the idea of freezing food purees, some of the more veggies ones are tough to get him to eat but he does like them on the cool side, not room temp so frozen might be a great way not to waste them and for him to enjoy. Thanks for always having the best videos :)

This many options may not work for every kiddo so if it doesn’t work for you don’t feel terrible. Some kids don’t do good with too many options.. maybe the reason why she’s become so picky.
@surlespasdondine Жыл бұрын
They don't become picky because of options. You offer them options because they are in a picky stage.
@Maverick-zy7yu Жыл бұрын
@@surlespasdondine not true. Kids go through picky stages because they’re figuring out they have power to say no over situations. And this is all developmental for her, she’ll be over it in no time. but the more you feed into their “pickyness” the more control they learn over you as a parent and at meal times. Parents go to these extents because they’re worried their child isn’t eating which is understandable. It’s also important for parents to view it as a great milestone in childrens development and learning how to say no. Why force and entice a child with a bunch of finger food snacks if they don’t want to eat. If they’re hungry they’ll eat what you feed them, if they don’t want a certain meal, they’ll learn to be hungry and offer it again in 30 min or an hour or whenever they’re ready to eat. In my case it’s nourishing real whole food meals for my family. For both my 3yo & 1yo.
@surlespasdondine Жыл бұрын
@@Maverick-zy7yu It definitely wasn't a power thing for my kids. They just needed time to get used to certain foods and I offered a variety of healthy foods and over time they got used to almost everything. Like my daughter says "my taste buds had to get used to it." I can't with all these manipulation theories.😆
@Maverick-zy7yu Жыл бұрын
@@surlespasdondine what manipulation theory? So you have time to give 5 snacks in a bowl all at once multiple times a day? All I was saying in my original post is some kids may get overwhelmed with all these options. Give your kids 5 or 10. I’ll give mine 2. Kids rely on security. When you’re really hungry do you like when people ask what you want to eat or wouldn’t it just be easier if someone put food in front of you or gave 2 options instead of 1000?
