This was very helpful! She answered a lot of the problems I have with my kids and ACE math. Thank the Lord for these videos she left behind for us Mamas to glean from

Oh how I miss you 😔 I started using ACE after watching many of your videos. We are now getting to the high school years with ACE. I have so many questions and feel overwhelmed at times. Your videos are so calming 💜❤️ Thank you Tom for keeping these older videos up. I reference them often.

My daughter hates those pages in her math pace! She gets so excited when she gets to skip a page. These tips are great! I'll for sure be using them this fall.☺

I am not above a bribe. A dish of Skittles works really good for one of my g'kids. Work a problem....eat a Skittle. Write a spelling word sentence.....eat a Skittle. LOL! xoj

I'm am so glad you did this video. I have actually done some of those tactics but felt like I wasn't following A.C.E bc I came from the A.C.E. School setting. I am now understanding homeschool can be tweeted to my likings bc I am a person that like to do things by book lol. Thanks...

+Ajah Eason I know what you mean! It feels like you're "breaking ACE law." :) It took me a long time to get over that, too. But once I did, we found ways to make things work. And once we did it our own way for awhile, we are pretty much back to doing things as directed in the PACEs. It just takes time to build up those skills first.

One of my nanny kids was in first grade last year and she would come home with a massive pile of addition flash cards for homework and be so discouraged. I told her we would do as many as we could in 5 min and then be done...and she always flew right through them in like 2/3 min

This is a great video! I think you did some editing! Great job! We are doing the timed today with calling it out and not writing it. She feels so confused by it, because this is a new practice. But we are off to a great start. your videos have been so helpful. Things to learn in the youtube world, keeping kids at or under 10 minutes will give you better retention. Many folks are know to quit on a video before it even starts just because of the length of time. You will see this in your analytics. Also, there are a lot of great videos about the analytics. I did give you another shout out as I introduce ACE into our school system

+Just Sew Trish Thanks for all the advice and encouragement! I've debated about the length of my videos. I ultimately decided that while I hope to reach more people than less, my ultimate purpose is to help the people who are really looking for information. If the videos are long because of it, I guess they'll be long. However, I do need to get better about getting to the point without leaving anything unsaid. I guess that means I need to learn to "pre-edit!" Thanks for all the shout outs!

I loved the algebra 1 when I was in high school. It actually explained it in a way I could understand. I had tried saxon and switched on schoolhouse previously and didn't like either.

Thank you so much for your videos. Did/do you use the "Daily Instructional Manuals" for kindergarten or is that even necessary?
@TheMillsFamilyVlog
@TheMillsFamilyVlog 6 жыл бұрын
The manuals are essential for the Kindergarten curriculum. All stories and instructions are in the manuals. You could get away with doing the core subjects in First Grade without manuals, but not Kindergarten.

How about hiding the questions around the home/garden - they have to find one, answer it and put it in a basket. Then go and find another...

I’ve read online that the history PACEs are mostly memorization, and that you don’t get the big picture of what happened. Is this true? I have two teens.
@TheMillsFamilyVlog
@TheMillsFamilyVlog 6 жыл бұрын
That's seems strange to me... There are some things the kids have to memorize, especially in high school (parts of famous speeches and things like that) but I'm not sure why someone would think that ACE history is "mostly memorization." Here's a link to the Scope & Sequence if you'd like to see what's covered for history in each grade: www.aceministries.com/media/pageimg/Home_Educators_Scope_and_Sequence-2017.pdf

Could they use a white board like write down the problem or draw circles to help count like using the blocks? Then write it down in the book or you write the answer in the book?
@TheMillsFamilyVlog

Yes, that would definitely work! We've done that with some of the long division problems, too.
