I don't think Instagram is dead either, I've seen creators starting out pretty recently and getting lots of exposure. The only thing about it (which is also pretty important, at least from my POV) is having a decent understanding of art fundamentals to be able to create consistently without hitting so many walls in the process ;O; also love this new piece! I was felling a little bit lost because starting an account and posting your art ✨revealing yourself to the world✨ is very intimidating and I really want it to go well because i’ve loved to draw and explore art since I was able to use a pencil and I think that at the end most artists just want to share their work and fell like they actually can do that for a living, so it really helps starting somewhere with tips from another fellow artist! The idea to create a series is a great one! I try to keep pieces thematically similar for six posts, because that's what shows up when you first view someone's page. I notice that posting in the same format is helpful with people recognizing your work too

Somehow I still prefer instagram and youtube as my main social media. And seeing artist there, sharing their art, helping other ppl become better at their art is a lot of encouragement. I love seeing process of making art, knowing stories behing an artist and their work. 😍❤I absolutely adore your style and our soothing voice.

I vaguely followed these tips a few years ago and all it gave me was burnout hahaha. Right now posting causes me to lose followers even. I gave up on wanting it to go anywhere tbh, I just post when I have something finished and that's it, I'll share something on my stories if it's something I care about but stickers usually never had any traction at all. Writing my experience in the description does nothing for me either. If your artstyle isn't appealing to the audience you won't get anywhere and I refuse to change it just for some internet points.

Hi Sara, I'm an artist and also a Romanian - emigrant in Portugal, so I totally relate to you feeling that way. While right now I am totally comfortable with where I am and I feel completely at home in this welcoming country, 15 years ago when I started a new life here I was so anxious to change my surroundings and not speak the language that I didn't even want to ask the person at the counter for fresh bread, I was buying the prepackaged one. Thank you! Yes I've been loving the more intricate motifs (especially since my art in general isn't very intricate). I've been trying to study traditional Eastern European art and embroidery, and then adding my own style and loves in the art I'm creating. Like, lavender isn't a Romanian flower but I love it, so I'm melding my interests with things that are culturally traditional. I'm excited to keep exploring these themes!

Every time I think Instagram is dead but it’s not I think trends like thrive on it but TikTok is more open to new things if that makes sense at least from my own art experience. I do think drawing or just doodling and showing both the good and the bad of your art is helpful for others. So far I’ve gotten positive feedback on my own art and doing it more and more every day just makes me feel alive again.

Different platforms are great for different people I think. Like, I am not at all driven to post on TikTok just because the demand for content is so crazy. I feel like Instagram has a little more balance, but that might also be because I'm used to it. I'm glad that there are options for different personalities and workflows.

I am so grateful to find this video, since I thought it was one of the few that was still on Instagram, for several days I have been seeing many comments from people saying that Instagram is dead, that no one should use it and that if you don't get followers you will never you will do well in your business. Personally, I still like Instagram because it is the platform with which I feel most comfortable and I am working to improve my art and share more things with my audience, even if it is very small.

Hey Sara, what are your thoughts on creating a new Instagram page when you already have one? I’ve had a page since 2016 and I only have about 400 followers but a lot of them are family or people I knew from school. I kind of want to start fresh and follow these tips but I’m not sure. I weirdly get more likes on my posts than I do on my reels. I got 15 likes on my best reel, and then on the majority of my posts, get between 100-400 likes. I'm not sure why, but that has been my experience. I'm really hoping to create more reels in the future tho, and hopefully they do well:)

I'm sorry! If you're passionate about this, keep going! Growth isn't linear unfortunately. I was losing thousands of followers last year, like--- 20k? for no reason. Social media can be discouraging, but something you post at some point might blow up!

No offense, But luck is a huge component of getting noticed on social media, so even if someone follows all this advice to a T theres a very real possibility that they never see any success. And I think these "how to get noticed on instagram-how to get instagram followers" videos should be honest about this possibility. You are an already well known artist who has been posting for a VERY long time, so your perspective is inherently different. because you see these strategies working for some people, you only see the ones its worked for, you dont see the thousands of other people doing the same thing with zero results. I know your intention with this video is just to help, and really no one should be complaining about free content on the internet but I just would like to tell anyone starting on social media, Its okay to not have a large following, have fun, connect with people, make friends and post to share your art with them. It is very easy to base the worth of your art on how many likes\views it gets, but that shit will eat you up. It can also halt your art progress, since you will find yourself chasing numbers instead of exploring and trying new things.

I'm 13 (almost 14) and I'm trying to build a career out of art also started my Instagram when I was 12 (now I shifted to a new account this year) . On my new account I've got 100 followers and stuck here from weeks just not growing it's demotivating but I'm posting as much as i could ofc I'm a student so i can't post every day but i try to post every other day (can't be consistent tho)... Yes! I’d love a video about your background. My mom is an immigrant and I can relate to how you can repress your identity to fit in. I post every day on my story, but I feel like adding stickers feels disingenuine? Super hard to come up with questions and polls that don’t feel too tryhard. And i also feel like most of my art aren’t good enough for my feed, hence posting on story. I also, somehow my art tips type of content and reels do very poorly. I do not post those everyday, but could it be my followers simply don’t like them? You do not need to reply to all this haha, anyone feel free to relieve me of my confusion 😂

I get the disingenuine feeling. I feel the same way when posting polls, but I don't think anyone who follows you feels like that. In general, it's nice to be included, and I think even stupid little polls make people feel a little more important, or at least heard. And to talk about the point of not posting on your feed because you don't think your work is very good, I have to be honest, I didn't think this video was very good! Most of the videos I post, I'm not even proud of. I often cringe looking back at my videos, but at the end of the day, someone can be so inspired by you in a way that you didn't think was possible. I think there's a leap of faith in posting, being vulnerable, and moving forward. It's not easy but we can never achieve perfection, so there is no time like the present. I believe in you!

I have been trying to get my watercolor mojo back after a somewhat forced retirement from active freelance artwork.
