Thanks Mort! Am I the only person that thinks rats and mice make scratching sounds in the walls? But footsteps are harder to rationalize, like the ones I heard upstairs from my room for years and years, a slow, measured tread on hot summer days when nobody else was home. I never heard them again after I realized it was the family ghost, Melanie, who everybody else had seen at least once. We thought she was the builder's mother, who had lived in the guest house and died on the property. My sister's place had.a small ghost dog who would burst out of the linen closet and run joyously down the hall to disappear through the walls. Research showed the apartment house had been in a field, and the master was probably calling the dog. Perhaps the person in the horribly haunted house built recently was experiencing something like that. If ghosts continue to re-ennact their lives, they probably don't see things in the same time as we do.

I haven't really noticed any of the main horror story narrators using profanity. I don't mind it once in a while as long as it fits the story. If it's just thrown in as a filler word then it's unnecessary. However, it can sometimes add to a story in order to show extreme surprise, confusion, or anger. 😀

I believe the author who says that her brother claimed that he was pushed through the guess of the window; when I was very young I was pushed through the glass of the rear window of a yellow Pontiac. It was shattered but still held together. I swear to this day that I was pushed - I felt a hand push me. I lived in a haunted house and the car was parked right next to it.

The guy in the first story said that he was hearing voices in his house, trying to locate where it's coming from. He followed it to the kitchen and thought it could just be the mechanical noise from the refrigerator causing his imagination to think there were voices. The one thing that's ever tricked my imagination into thinking that I was hearing someone calling my name or thought the phone was ringing was a hairdryer. Maybe it's because they're so loud or maybe it's the whine of the motor. Has that happened to anyone else with a hair dryer?

Actually not a hair dryer but the same misinterpretations come from an electric fireplace heater I have. It sounds like radio music when I switch the light on but keep heat off. It's like a mechanical circulating noise but always bothered me so I avoid that setting. And similar sounds come from a tiny fan I use in the summer. It gives me the creeps hearing voices and radio sounds coming from appliances, lol. I thought the author of that story might be experiencing something like pareidolia until they saw eyeballs.
