For question #1, in the Novella The Hellbound Heart, once Frank opens the box, he is so overwhelmed with pain and pleasure that he needs to "unload" himself, which he does on the floor before he's ripped apart. The then odds of a family member coming along and bleeding on that "load", which is the literal and actual seminal impetus to his resurrection is so utterly rare, that the Cenobites are completely unaware of his escape. It kinda bothers me that Hell is these movies are considered actual xtain "Hell". It never was. Hell, or the Cenobite realm was just another dimension. Julia's heart is Hellbound, which is really what the original story is about. How Julia's and Frank's hearts are "Hellbound", so to speak. They are evil people. The Cenobites are barely even in the story. In the new Hellraiser, when Pinhead was finally like, "You have chosen the Lament Configuration", I fkn cried!🤘😭

Big HELLRAISER fan, so I'm glad to see you dive into some of the mess they leave behind. Regarding Pinhead and Angelique, I think they did know each other before, and that, as you mention later in the video, Pinhead sometimes has different hosts. The Marvel/Epic comics did a mini-series in which the Elliot Pinhead goes back in time meeting his former selves; and even the Engineer is given a prior existence within a different human host. This plays well with the BOOM! Comics having Kirsty take over being Pinhead from Elliot, and leaves open the possibility that the reboot Pinhead is Kirsty or another feminine host.

I like the Angelique meeting Pinny(yep, always going to call him that now, lol) explanation you gave, but out of curiosity, couldn’t she have also met him when he was human, and that’s how he first learned of the box? Thus, when she says how things have changed, she’s referring to his look? Just a thought. Probably a wrong thought, but a thought nonetheless

There have been many Pinheads, as the pins and leather are vestments of his role as Hell Priest. Every time he gets replaced (see especially the Boom! Studios comics), no matter who it is is given the same role and the same pins. Kirsty had robes instead of leather, but when Harry took it over, he got the leather and they both had the pins. There's also the fact most of the movies don't really have a continuity, I don't care what other writers think unless their ideas are signed off on by Barker. So yeah, the movies are less canonical to me than the comics. Even the Epic ones and that dorky one with all the guns. But I'll argue that outside of the prose, it's the first two movies, MAYBE the next two for world-building (particularly the idea that Pinhead unbound by a human host is more erratic and is capable of making Pseudobites - Cenobite-like creatures that are far less powerful than the real ones), then the Epic comics and the Boom comics. Then maybe 10% of the other movies.

Here's the thing - Frank was NOT in "Hell". He might have said he was in hell in a colloquial sense but the Cenobites and their dimension is not hell and they are not demons. The Cenobites are much more lovecratian than that. "Hell" would indicate a punishment but the Cenobites are not there to punish people. They are beings that come to those who desire extremes of experience. As such they provide exactly that but since they are beyond good and evil and pleasure and pain, experience is experience to them. That is why these movies are scary. It's not the torture - it's the fact that they come for desire. And any person paying money to watch a movie such as that also desires these experiences. So it's almost a meta-horror movie since in that case the cenobites may come to share their extreme experiences with those watching those movies.

Here's 2 more unanswersed questions: 1. At the end of part 3 it shows after the cube is buried in concrete for the foundation of a building it's revealed the building resembles the cube. Did the cube transform the original architecture? What was the building's purpose? How was the cube retrieved? 2. Is Hellraiser universe connected to the Allstate Insurance commercials? Actor Dean (Hellseeker) Winters plays Mayhem in the TV ads causing people to get into accidents. He's clearly gathering souls for Cenobites.

After watching Hellbound Hellraiser 2 I always wonder why Pinhead was so dead-set on getting Kirsty, It makes sense in the book since Kirsty isn’t Larry’s daughter but rather a friend who harbors a crush on him. However for the movie I came to the rather ickier conclusion of a reverse Oedipus Complex. An Electra Complex I guess. Kirsty harbors some form of desire for her father maybe a sexual one maybe not. (This would explain Kirsty’s seemingly unprovoked hatred of her stepmother, before knowing anything about what she has done) Considering the different forms of hedonism in the movie as well as the themes of the book and films, I think this would make sense. It would also explain why Kristy can open the box so easily. The Box is supposed to be difficult to open, but every one gets it in there first try after just playing around for a few minutes. I know this isn’t official but I always believe that desire of some form sexual or platonic is what opens the box. Which is why it’s so easy, because the main characters desire something. Except for Tiffany who is lead by compulsion, Not desire.

I can answer franks resurrection. In the story, it’s not the blood that brings him back but the blood mixed with his jizz from the first scene of the novella where they come to frank and make him pleasure himself as they make him experience every pleasure and pain he has even had as if they were there happening again. When he finishes, he is torn apart leading to the events of the book (movie). So being both are Clive, I’d say the jizz is related to the resurrection still

Regarding Pinhead knowing Angelique, I had assumed since Pinhead seems to be a title more than a single person (in the comics Kirsty, Jack the Ripper, and other people have also been Pinhead) that the spirit of Pinhead (seen when Spencer is separated from Pinhead) was who knew Angelique. But your explanation makes sense given some of the dialog which makes it seem they never actually met. Regarding Kirsty's decisions, my headcanon has always been that she enjoyed sending Frank and Chanard to Pinhead and opened the box to make a deal with Pinhead to gather more souls for him. He seems to have intended to turn her into a cenobite so this could be seen as her trying to make a good impression or her wanting the job without the "benefits". Ultimately, she becomes a cenobite anyway as seen in the comics.

Qiestion #2. 5:42. You're touching on the power of Kirstys innocence and its effects on the cenobites. I dont think they can tear her apart because she's not fully turned. Basically Hellraiser repeats this Rock, Paper, Scissors dynamic of "the innocent" beats the cenobite, the cenobite beats the sinner, the sinner beats the innocent, the innocent when empowered beats the cenobite etc.

Question #7 19:00 Good observations on all this. I think that Pinheads reference to "her time" could be that it's the time of demons running a fiery hell like the traditional hell. As Angelique is a "demon born" cenobite, not a human born cenobite. Lol @ the shaq analogy.

Question #3 6:40 it's my theory that the dimension the Cenobites rule isn't the fire and brimstone Christian Hell. It has everlasting torment yes, but really it has a science fiction twist. You have a centralized evil stone that may have extra terrestrial origins due to it's uncommon markings. The stone has a power to torture and twist choice humans into servants. It then has an interest in like 1700s era torture technology that it has mankind design for it since it lacks hands which they use to torture humans. Ex. Chains?, a puzzle box, a chest device, and a stone that held Pinhead.

Here's to answer your question about Angelique. Who is to say that time in hell and or heaven is linear. If God knows everything and if God is omnipotent, therefore the past the present and the future of already been written. Therefore yes you can tap into Angelique and any given time from any given place if you look at it from a nonlinear perspective

#9: This may seem out of character for Kirsty, but you gotta think about what a shock to her system unwrapping the box would be. Once she understands that Mayhem must intend for the box to be the instrument of her destruction, she has to defend herself. She doesn't seem likely to be able take him out in fisticuffs, and cannot be sure he won't just whip out a gun and shoot her if she doesn't open the configuration. In Kirsty's eyes, Mayhem is just as bad as Frank, Julia, and Charnard. Who was the one entity that helped her (to admittedly mixed results) against those enemies and can potentially be bargained with to help her again? Pinhead. Sure, the five souls she offers were probably all destined for hell, but the Gash would not necessarily have any claim to them over any other factions. Kirsty always had darkness and desire in her, but never to the same extent as some of her family members. Pinhead was probably very pleased with this development.

Correct me if I’m wrong, but I think the only time Cenobites show up when the box is opened, it’s when the box is being used to summon them. Like Frank & Elliot are in the empty “pleasure” rooms with candles lit. But Kirsty is just trying to solve the puzzle.
