Lone wanderer and better critical are my favorite perks in the game, with my sniper vats build and the ace operator perks from nuka world dlc, you can easily have a killing machine. The one that really deserve to be in this list is "penetrator" perk, this perk is OP and make some enemies like sentry bots and humans with power armor much easier to kill since you can aim directly to their weak spot and sometimes i killed multiple ennemies with just one shot
@TrappedInFallout2 күн бұрын
@taab84 That's a good point and never thought of that. Thanks for sharing. I'll invest some more points into it and see what happens.
@thomascrump11653 күн бұрын
These are not underrated. Most people use most of these
@TrappedInFallout3 күн бұрын
Given that there is no level cap, most folks will but chances are they would take them slightly longer than earlier (if levels requirements permit).

Strictly speaking, there's no ignoring of any perks since there's no level cap, you'll eventually get them all anyways, this ain't fallout 3 after all.
@TrappedInFallout3 күн бұрын
That's very true and a good point. You will eventually get all Perks including ones you do not want or need.
@stefanstoyanov74604 күн бұрын
I use all those perks every time, with the exception of Refractor. It is a useless perk that is absolutely not worth investing in. By the time this perk would be useful, you'll be either a power armor rocking, iron man, or a stealth arche... ugh, I mean stealth sniper/commando. And then you'll need those five level ups for something a lot more useful for your character, like Mister Sandman for your shadow build, or Nuclear Physicist for your post apocalyptic tin can man.
@TrappedInFalloutКүн бұрын
Agreed, it can be helpful I'd you get it early enough but even then you can achieve the same thing with kit etc. The only time this vsn be useful is if your going for some specific build type in which case it may help.

I totally agree. Your about to be deleted and then slow mo, extra defence and extra damage mods kick in. This can make an otherwise difficult situation a walk in the park.

Word so there’s this glitch I had reoccurring in my current survival run. I was wearingPA aswell (using the brotherhood bird as fast travel, you tell it to land Before reaching your destination. Then while landing -like the last 10ish meters and actually touching ground last moment- you open your pip-boy and close it and then jump out by pressing A) now the glitch will activate, you will hop out of the bird with the minigun in hand instead of your original weapon, and get this. no light on for the ammo hud area and when you put out enough for a reload it just will for free. hold x and you put it away into the abyss where you pulled the bullets from. Good luck enjoy
@TrappedInFalloutКүн бұрын
Ah that's really cool, sounds like a new one to me. I've use the verified to deal a lot of damage. Here is something else you can do. Call a Vertibird, select a location. While still in glitch open pipboy and select another location. If you do this right then you can force the Vertibird to travel a path of your choice. Doing this allows you to take out monsters that otherwise you would have to take out on foot such as thr Mirelurk Queen near Murkwater.

VANS is the most love it/hate it perk. If you’re directionally challenged, and get lost easily, Fallout 4 can be a chore to navigate. Most people don’t seem to get this point. But the player that needs help finding their way around, VANS rank 1 might be the best perk in the entire chart. Because, without it, they wouldn’t otherwise even play the game.
@TrappedInFallout3 күн бұрын
That's very true and a good point. Never thought of it like that where anyone who just can't navigate the game would need a perk to help out. And there are plenty of places where the compass is not as much help.
@taab843 күн бұрын
I use VANS but mostly for the second rank (+2 perception). With my vats sniper, that's a decent boost in hit chance

I will have to double check that, it's not something I have seen. That said if it's true then this would bump up the effectiveness of the perk.
@ErosXCaos3 күн бұрын
Aquaboy is very divisive. It’s for many a trash perk. Those people are likely Power Armor users and/or don’t play on Survival Mode. But for Survival players, I’d imagine most would say it’s a must have. Probably the perk that most divides Survival players and Normal players. It’s so hard for me to like Refractor. 5 levels waiting to invest in game changers, and five perk points that could go into those, for an unsubstantial buff. There’s a build and playstyle that wants it. Maybe a minimalist. A monk build, for example. I’m glad it’s there, but I wouldn’t recommend it to many people.
@TrappedInFallout3 күн бұрын
Yeah, it's got it's advantages for sure but it is also a hard sell. With 5 points there are plenty of other perks to look at and that also plays a role in why it's being ignored, but I suppose for the right reasons.
@ronnierayburn9983 күн бұрын
Lone Wanderer - Underrated? By whom? No perk in the game comes even close to this one, when you're talking character buffs. Are there still people out there who don't know this? Some people will comment on this and say: "Yes, but it's only good if you travel alone or with Dogmeat!" Hmm, yes... The name of the perk kinda gives that one away, doesn't it. Refractor - This perk sounds a lot better than it actually is. 50 energy resistance sounds like a lot. If you have no armor or ballistic weave, then it is a lot. When you have any kind of decent armor, it becomes more and more irrelevant. This is because of how the game calculates damage resistance. You'll also need to spend 5 perk points to get the full benefit of the perk. The only time I ever spend points in this perk, is when I'm at a high level (70+ or higher), and my build is well beyond finished. Then... maybe!
@TrappedInFallout3 күн бұрын
For the Lone Wanderer, basically for the reasons mentioned. A fair few folks don't get to get it early on as they do favour travelling with a companion instead.
@ronnierayburn9983 күн бұрын
@@TrappedInFallout Yeah, I got that part! But, does that mean that the perk is underrated by these players?
@vavra2223 күн бұрын
I wish we got Fallout 4 with Fallout 3´s skills+perks mechanics... instead its mostly bland stuff. Not to mention "unique" weapons and armor, and leveled loot such as power armor. I love Fallout 4, but this stuff killed a lot of replayability for me, i see this as laziness, its much easier to just set PA spawns and have them "level up" with player than to manually place some really good pieces somewhere difficult.
@taab843 күн бұрын
I loved the perk system of fallout 4. The thing I didn't like is the absence of level cap
@TrappedInFalloutКүн бұрын
I know what you mean. Reading your comment brings back memories of a particular weapon I love, Vengeance in FO3. It was a nightmare to get especially on low levels. But once you get it the entire gameplay mechanics changes given how OP the weapon is. Unique weapons in 3 and NV sort of had a history behind them also. I like the legendary effects of weapons in 4 but I would have also preferred weapons from 3 and NV making it into 4 with the lore and history intact.

The caveat on Action Boy/Girl is that it assumes that you are using V.A.T.S.. I, and quite a few other people I know, never use V.A.T.S. preferring to instead aim manually since I can get far better shots on enemies, particularly if partially concealed, with my own aim than I can with the V.A.T.S. system. So for players like me there is no benefit to picking up ranks in well, any of the perks associated with that system. Otherwise it's a good list with well presented arguments.
@TrappedInFallout3 күн бұрын
Thank you for your feedback. AB/AG are really good perks, especially when combined with certain other perks/ranks to help yo prolong AP point use. And yes, helps with VAT. But it also helps with other elements also such as Sprinting when carrying too much.
@dwarf_nz4833 күн бұрын
@@TrappedInFallout Ok that last bit I didn't know.
@taab843 күн бұрын
Sprinting also consumes a lot of action point and in some cases with lot of enemies coming towards you, you don't have time to aim manually And if you are using vats, grim reaper sprint make action boy/ girl almost irrelevant. There are also armors with legendary effect that increase AP restoration. To resume: action boy/girl are actually useful and decent perks, it's just there are better options
