@cjmaddux Жыл бұрын
Sadly, for some reason the clip they used for that part of Giving Up in this video was edited, you can hear the sound hand-off after the scream is done. In the original broadcast he did that scream in 2 parts. Took nothing away from it, honestly, I have no idea why they saw the need to jack with it for this compilation. I agree with you, though, that high note right after was incredible.
@pompompurin25117 жыл бұрын
Honestly, Chester's whole life is unforgettable. He suffered through abuse as a child and addiction, the death of his friend Chris Cornell. And he was - no, he still is - a legend, a great one at that. He sang songs that reached out to people, that people could relate to. His songs had meaning. Its a shame he died, and I send my regrets to the Linkin Family. Long live Chester Bennington.
@azurechaos53537 жыл бұрын
So true, he survived through so much and maybe that's why his vocals could (and still can) hit you so viscerally. He actually knew what I was going through & the things/truths that I couldn't speak for myself, provided a way of expressing what I needed. It's not an exaggeration to say I'm still here today because as a teen I found Linkin Park and especially Chester's vocals. RIP Chester and thank you.

Me too, friend. I never realized it until it was too late, but Chester and Linkin Park was my first real stepping stone to music. I had focused more on different bands and metal later, but it was an unexpectedly hard blow to hear about him. I still feel the negative space he left behind, that you talked about, even to this day. He was truly brilliant and I wish I'd have gotten the chance to see them live or even hug him so tightly, that all his problems went away, and that he would feel the love, his fans had for him. We all love you, Chester, and we miss you.
@1313-s6v4 жыл бұрын
I'm a new fan, and I agree Now his songs seems to be more dark and serious, and it brings even more pain, to know that a person who sang that couldn't take his pain so much he committed suicide Now I'm insecure and suicidal, and scared of anything, that reminds me of my past, even of good things, and scared of suicidal notes. And I used to listen to some Linkin park in childhood, even if I wasn't big fan of it. So... Now I'm reasonable listen to it, to make myself accept my own suicidal tendencies, and face my *real* feelings, and don't run from it and don't degrade of hidden pain It hurts af, but I feel how I'm slowly heal. It helped me much better, than "support" of some of my "friends" (but somes actually tried to help, and it really helped), and only therapy by itself R.i.p. Chester. A couple of random people on the street looked at me with this sad expression and smiled, there were a lot of moments of solidarity. I can't even describe this feeling... We lost an idol, I, personally, lost the voice of my youth, the voice that's been with me for every single ones of my breakdowns and meltdowns from the very start. I can see it in everyone's eyes, how sad they are, how hurt they are... We're in this together, we're holding on, we'll never forget you, Chester, we'll never stop loving you. You formed me as a person, you helped me through so much, all of Linkin Park did. "I just want to make sure, before we leave and go back home... that we pay our respect and share some of our love and our prayers for the families of the victims of the tragedies of the Manchester arena... My heart has never been broken so much than the day that I found out that tragedy happened. And since that day i've been wearing these little earrings with the beads in them. I know thats a symbol of strength and hope for the city of Manchester. And I'm going to keep these in... i'm going to keep these in... until all this nonsense stops and we can start loving each other. We can stop hurting each other because we believe in something different than the person standing next to us. The one thing that can't be defeated is love, right? You can conquer hate by ignoring it, but you can destroy it by loving the person next to you. So I want everybody here tonight, to look at the person standing next to you and just tell them that you love 'em and you... are happy that they're here with you tonight, having a good time... listening to music! Celebrating life! We don't care what you look like. We don't care where you come from. We don't care what you believe in, we love every single one of you out there... and nothing will ever change that." Chester had such a one of a kind voice. If Linkin Park gets a new vocalist that isn't Mike, I don't know if I'd be able to listen to them. Not because I don't want to give them a chance, but because it would be too painful. I didn't know Chester personally, but he felt like a best friend. Watching LPTV episodes and then the music made me fall in love with Chester as a person. He wasn't just another musician and I think I speak for hundreds, if not thousands of people on this. Chester was what helped shaped the band into who they were. And above all else, they weren't just a band, they were a family that loved one another.

Vocalists are always the hardest to replace because the band sounds obviously different. Whereas a guitarist or drummer isn't that much of a notice unless they're using completely different sounding equipment. I've stopped listening to Nightwish after they got rid of Tarja for that reason. I'm sure the other lady after and the new one now are great vocalists but they aren't Tarja. It would be the same for any other band.. the vocalist is the key part. Majority of bands I listen to have a distinct vocalist singer so I can tell who the band is by their voice.. Without Chester isn't going to be the same.

@vairagya1086 жыл бұрын
I've seen a loved one suffer through terrible depression and i think there comes a point where it spirals out of one's control. And if one is driven to suicide it's more out of a feeling that life offers no worthy options, and out of a complete, utter & paralysing hopelessness, rather than "cowardliness". Most of us wouldn't be able to go through with suicide. One is only able to go through with it when living is more painful than one can bear. Imagine what kind of mental & emotional pain one needs to be in, to choose to hurt & kill themselves rather than bear the pain a moment longer.
