UnXsIsT it's funny when they compare him to guitar players like Steve vai, Herman Li and john petruchi to try and show how bad he is, but he's about 20 years younger than them and already reaching their level. For it to be a fair comparison you need to compare him to his contemporaries, in this case Michael Paget (bfmv) jake Pitts (BVB) and jackie Vincent (FIR). When compared to guitar players of the same era you can see just how talented he is. The only one I think who actually comes close is Padge from BFMV

They all have their own lives now, Matt, and Zacky have kids now, and Syn is expecting his kid. Since Jimmy died, they've changed in the way to approximate life more than to rush like an idiot into things blindly if that makes sense

It took me a while to get into A7X. It wasn't until Nightmare came on the radio shortly before that album's release that I stopped and realized "Hey. These guys are really evolving into something real and unique." The song "Save Me" is what really got me into A7X to the point I went and bought their back catalog. IMO, Syn is an amazing guitarist not just because he can play fast solos. Syn is awesome because he can play really well AND WRITE really well (as can the rest of the guys in the band). That's very rare. Anyone can learn to shred and noodle around on the guitar, but writing badass songs that make the soloing super badass is what makes Syn a great guitar player. In all honesty, in terms of technicality his solos arent all that difficult to play which I think makes him that much more of a badass musician....melody preferred over technicality.

Guitarists often get side-tracked in their journey of learning lead guitar by getting so focused on speed that they eventually forget all about the importance of melody...and they're stuck just doing exercises all the time and no writing. It's really the result of failing to "prioritize and organize". Gates (and Vengeance too) clearly learned to play their instruments with priorities and goals in mind. And it's served them well...and served us well:)
