Actually, a big part of why Tess Holliday is hated is because she's a scam artist: She was selling her EYBS t-shirts at $40 each, while saying that a portion of the proceeds were going to be donated to a domestic violence charity. There were hundreds of fans who never received their shirts and, on top of that, not one cent was donated to the charity. People who enquired about the shirts they had not received were blocked on Tess's social media accounts, instead of having the problem solved. People were also blocked when they asked if Tess had donated any of her own money to the DV charity (keep in in mind she supposedly makes six figures a year and has constantly posted about expensive vacations she has taken and whatnot). Instead of addressing any issues directly or compensating the people who have ordered her shirts and not received them (and, frankly, for us regular people, $40 is a lot of money to pay for a t-shirt), she has made excuses and claimed to have been a victim of online bullying over the matter. So, as you can see, the strong dislike toward Tess Holliday goes well beyond her appearance.

@emilycathcart73878 жыл бұрын
That was someone else who pointed it out; I had to read up on it myself but from what I understand, it had to do with her making some remark about how all black man "love her"; or something like that. I don't know if there were other comments that she made on the matter.

My dislike for her has nothing to do with her size, but the fact that she claims to be body positive, but posted once about wanting to punch skinny girls in the face. I had no idea about the scam part of it.

Also, what the fuck do you mean by 'fat apologist'? Fat people aren't Nazis. Hate to disagree but most people just like what they like and sadly most of the models in this video make me go "Um, no thank you". It's not a sin to appreciate what we perceive as beauty, physical beauty, natural beauty...whatever is pleasing to our eye. I'm kinda tired of people trying to convince me otherwise (NOT you, that's not what I mean when I disagree...NOT hating, just disagreeing).
@janetsiolis6378 жыл бұрын
***** There's no denying that Kendall and Gigi are pretty. But for me I think they're overused and it gets boring when that's all you ever see. Fashion magazines need to take risks and use unique faces that don't have 60 million followers bc that's where the best covers happen! An example is Aya Jones for Vogue Spain in May this year. If you look at that and then compare it to Kendall's recent Vogue Spain cover...well, there is no comparison really, and Aya doesn't even have 100k followers on Insta :p
@raquelpontes34558 жыл бұрын
I wouldn't say 80%, but I understand what u are saying. we all now that Kendall is nothing special and she only gets the covers, shows and even walk for VS because of her family, and that's sad... they are only for the money. and Gigi H. I think she us getting better, at least her walking at the shows and for VS but not for magazine covers she is to normal (I mean we wouldn't stop on the street to see her, if she wasn't famous, and the same goes to kendall, OF COURSE)

@santaclausreindeer84918 жыл бұрын
I totally agree. Too fat, or too thin also, should never be shown as a model for anyone, they're totally unhealthy conditions for which there's nothing to be happy or proud of.
@sabinesteil46907 жыл бұрын
Bryan Duran are to telling too thin models to gain weight also?
@beckas79637 жыл бұрын
This comment and anyone who agrees are ignorant. Just because you're too big doesn't mean you're unhealthy. Just like how being skinny doesn't mean you're healthy. She's big but just because she is doesn't mean she doesn't eat healthy.
@gregjohnson12477 жыл бұрын
3 Decay Nobody is saying being skinny is healthy, obesity & anorexia are both major problems. She seriously risks shortening her life because of her obesity, people are concerned for her they are not trying to bully her. If you do some google searches you can see that being overweight increases the risk of things like heart disease and aneurysms, nobody is trying to make her feel awful about her body but rather trying to help her.
@CarolsVideos7 жыл бұрын
I think it's good to have confident plus sized models. Not to say being obese is okay, but to say that being HAPPY is okay. I would hate to think that anyone who is overweight also feels depressed. It's always okay to strive to eat healthier and to live a healthier lifestyle, but to also hate yourself and put yourself down all the time shouldn't happen. If someone is fat and confident I think that is better than being fat and depressed.

Beauty is overrated. Beauty is transitory. The whole concept of beauty is changeable and random... it is really a waste of time to discuss people's outer shape.
@frankboff12606 жыл бұрын
Der lachende Vagabund Perhaps people need to learn that ‘beauty’ comes in many, many different forms. Beauty need not be defined by cultural standards. You are right of course, beauty is changeable particularly our cultures obsession with youth which is fleeting. Hopefully we all learn to appreciate the many different forms of beauty.

No honey. I'm a size 26. Tess is somewhere between a 28 - 32. It's interesting what they shave off for pictures. I totally agree. I don't get the whole plus size-beauty promotion. Being obese don't make you ugly but can influence badly at the whole body. It is not normal to be obese. Choco Lover Young impressionable minds will look up to these models and want to be and look like them. Which is not good considering their not healthy. To say "why are you bothered? it's not your body." is ignorant because it can head towards the point of premature death, all because these bodies were put on display despite them being unhealthy, young children and adults thought that's what they should look like and headed towards that unhealthy path. Although you may not care about the mental and physical state of young people, I DO.

Everybody can be beautiful in his or her own way. The question is if people have the eye to see it, and if you are confident enough to see the beauty in yourself (without being arrogant about it). And if you find a professional model recruiter who acknowledges that simple fact, you have a good base. Of course, being a model is more than good looks or a "perfectly" shaped body, and the guys recruiting models know that like no other.

The industry wants you if you look hella different and will use you until they find a replacement. The awful things I heard could slaughter a person's self esteem.

@Anniebelle-mr4wx8 жыл бұрын
Shut the fuck up, it's none of your goddamn business how people feel about their bodies. You don't get to tell people they aren't allowed to exist in the public eye because they aren't healthy. Shame on you.
@lupinte40818 жыл бұрын
+Anniebelle 1414 shame on me? I am not the one who's cursing here, you could have at least watched your language, you don't even know me. She can do whatever you want but please tell me, how many people think that that body is healty, there is a difference between being curvy or a little bigger and just being obese. I don't get why you start using language like that all of a sudden. I am not trying to insult her or anything, she didn't do anything to me, and you shouldn't either. I don't get it, just bc it's the internet, we should behave anymore?!
@Anniebelle-mr4wx8 жыл бұрын
Roli jesse Garcia The existence of fat people in the public eye isn't glamorizing fatness or saying it's something you should aspire to have, it's simply acknowledging the fact that fat people exist and not just as an ugly slob who can't be bothered to take care of themselves. It's not easy to lose weight and not everyone can/wants to/is in the position to do so, those people should not have to live their lives thinking they're the cancer of society and should hide away from people until they're thin. Showing a fat person modelling plus sized clothing isn't saying 'this is what you should look like', it's saying to those who are that size 'this is what you look like and that's not a bad thing'. By saying 'do not embrace your body' OP is suggesting that all people who aren't healthy should hate themselves and the way they look. I don't know about you, but I don't see that as a very nice idea to spread to people.
@Anniebelle-mr4wx8 жыл бұрын
Lup Inte You literally said "do not embrace it when it could possibly kill you". Tess's body could well kill her, however I'm certain she knows that. If she wants to continue being the size she is then that is completely up to her. She should be allowed to love and accept her body no matter what size it is or what health problems it may cause, which is something you directly said she should not do.
@lupinte40818 жыл бұрын
+Anniebelle 1414 I understand where you get that idea from but I actually meant that the message is wrong. I may have not made that totally clear. For example, someone who is really addicted to smoking a bad kind of drugs. That could possibly kill him, or not? Do you think he should embrace his smoking habbit because it is "part of him" that's what I mean with spreading the wrong message. Better said: I meant, spreading the message of embracing your life situation when it's in danger is wrong. Obviously I think no matter who you are, you should embrace yourself as a person, but you have to look at your conditions too

I do a lot of hosting on stage at sci-fi conventions in the UK. Erika Ervin ("Amazon Eve") was a guest in 2015 at The London Film & Comic Con, where I was co-hosting. She's 6ft 8in, while I'm a short-ass guy at 5ft 6in. I had a two-step photographers' stool backstage. I brought it on stage, climbed it and gave her a welcome kiss before the interview. It went down well with the audience and Erica was a good sport. I'm so glad she came through all her back history, to be a success. I think she's a goddess. Good luck to her!
