@misunderstoodcomedian947 I agree. I mean for your average Joe/Jolene, $200,000+ for a home is NOT AFFORDABLE. It's only affordable for folks who have an upper 5 figure-low to mid 6 figure income. I can imagine rent in those areas is not under $1,000 month anywhere, not even in high crime neighborhoods.

You had some nice pictures of the Village of East Davenport in your presentation. It's a great place to spend a Saturday. When you go to Davenport, make sure you get some Harris Pizza and Whitey's Ice Cream. Take a stroll along the river walk that runs from Bettendorf into Davenport. I'm so homesick!! Peter Santenello did a video about Cajun country, and he also concluded that the people there were friendly and welcoming amid a strong sense of their own history and culture. Apparently there are efforts afoot to preserve & teach the native language (can't remember the name of it) that sounded like a mix of French and local Native.

I see my city in the thumbnail: instant click But Youngstown’s part of this video not super accurate: we have some dive bars but nothing crazy, we’re not known for chili dogs at all. Pizza on the other hand is our calling card. And those homes under like 80k are pretty much just ones being sold for the land or renovation. Otherwise very accurate assessment and thanks for including it

"The unofficial mascot is the turtle" *(Shows a tortoise walking)* 😆😂 All joking aside, great video. As for that city in southern Texas, here's my opinion: When you're that close to the border in the US, you're far safer just living in Mexico. US border towns (to the south) are sketchy as all get-out. So are the towns on the Mexican side of the border, but the further south you go, the better they get. I felt very safe in the towns I stayed in during my brief time living in Mexico...WAY safer than I would have felt in southern Texas.

Correct, and you're being too kind. Border towns these days are a disaster! Note how Briggs did not mention border issues even once. That's an obvious fail, in my view! As the crime for the most part is due to the open border!

I keep searching for great towns across America to continue my retirement in but at considerably reduced cost if at all possible. I'm in a town SE of downtown Los Angeles. The politics of this state suck and the govie types have their own agenda which sure the heck doesn't match mine! So... you hit a nail on the head with Tulsa. I've been considering there and the surrounding area as it has a lot to offer. Fayetteville, AK is another great spot but I personally prefer the Bentonville/Centerton area which is ~20 miles to the north. Gotta like Walmart as Bentonville is the center of their operations. Finally, as I'm in CA and have some family here, I've been looking seriously at Kingman, AZ. It's growing like a weed with new housing going in at an alarming rate. It gets hot but I'd rather deal with heat vs. the cold of the winters in the midwest and east. Just my 2 cents... cheers!🙂🙂

Please do a video about small towns on lakes. Ideally lakes with sailboats only as motor boats always mean drunks and danger. Or, good lakes to live nearby or on. Thanks and keep up the good work. Your videos are really improving. They are more factual with witty comments and you’re keeping the minutes to a minimum which is great.

There used to be a BBQ place in Woodinville, WA that had a sign that said, "We test our sauce on animals."

I own land in Colorado (and yes, the land I bought was DIRT CHEAP) but the cost to build a house has me deeply considering selling my land and buying a house elsewhere…plus the owners in the area are almost constantly posting about out of state visitors stealing stuff. My biggest concern is living somewhere that actually experiences all four seasons.

Wait what?! Springfield Missouri made a list for something good? Seriously did not expect that. I’ve lived here a few years but in the area more than 40 years. I do love it here. You just have to know where to avoid. Those super cheap houses that bring down the average… you don’t want to live there.

I’ve always lived on the West Coast, but I’ve traveled extensively. I’ve seen almost every state and you couldn’t pay me enough to live on the east side of the Rockies anywhere. The weather sucks everywhere. I like a temperate climate tell me something about temperate climate places to live. L O L.

Tulsa was a city I had thought about very briefly. About 6 years ago I was learning how to code and then I found out about some coding class that had a San Francisco campus but I talked to somebody from their Facebook page and they said that they have a Tulsa campus and that to study there I can get I think it was like $1,000 per month or something like that to do my studies there and that it would be something I could more easily do because the average rent in Tulsa at the time was like $500 a month or something. To be honest I might be getting the numbers wrong, it was 2018 but looking back at it maybe I should have actually tried that. For all I know maybe I could have succeeded well enough and just come back to where I'm from in Santa Rosa and maybe even run a software company but that might be a bit too ambitious

Spartanburg is why everyone is moving to Boiling Springs. Cheap for a reason. We are not known for our barbecue. Notice he didn't name one, because he couldn't find one. The food is crap unless your high standards include McDonalds

Wow nice. It’s a city with a small town field. Or more of a small city. I think what’s good about Lafayette Louisiana is that it’s one of the very few places in Louisiana. You can actually move to and enjoy living in.
