I should add that I was a player for years that was in America, though. I changed went to the Philippines, and now am married to a Filipina. Brought her back to America. She has values and is wife material, unlike most women here. This guy wasn't a player in the US. He came to the Philippines, and once he did, he became a huge player. That is why he keeps returning. In his own words, men come to the Philippines for women. That is his viewpoint. I am buying a second house in the Philippines because it is an amazing place. I'm already married, so it's definitely not for the women.

Trying to "score a Filipina" either online or on a commuter basis is almost by design going to lure you into a bad situation. Land in the country, spend some time here, and just live life. Go to the grocery store. Join clubs or civic organizations. Go to a gym. Buy yourself some health insurance. Get your haircut. Go see the sights. Go scuba diving. Take a class in something if you're eligible to. Not only will you meet people, but over the course of things you'll develop a sense of who's on the level here and who's not. If you're trying the "instant girlfriend method", chances are that you're a mark - if not from the girlfriend herself, then from the family or others around her...Another thing. Use a good agency for your visa paperwork and such here. Hire lawyers and accountants to keep you straight. They become part of your network. And as your network, as often as not, various people in your sphere will either directly or surreptitiously introduce you to, or pair you up with someone. Matchmaking is a Filipino pasttime...In short, the most effective recon is actual boots on the ground...

Great video Pea .... Really good to get a balanced perspective and some brutal honesty. from Dave . He is correct in saying nearly all blokes go the Filipines to find women. His admissions about not treating some Filipinas the way he should have was very candid. The only issue I have is - I find it hard to trust someone who is always wearing sunglasses. It is hard for me to understand and empathise when I cannot see their eyes. What he said was good but not seeing his eyes was a problem for me.

I’ve been retired 29 years have enjoyed every one of them. I’m now 84 still enjoying life. Have met a lot of very nice people here in the Philippines, Filipinos, and expats.. I will be leaving Dumaguete on the 23rd back to the U.S. . I will be there for the election. But main reason for the timing will be my eldest daughter’s birthday. I don’t understand all the negativity. Seems like a really nice fella. He knows what he wants. I think he will hold out until he gets it. My plan is to spend some time in Texas and then go check out Ecuador. Since I come from small town Texas I haven’t lost faith in Texas women most that i know are fantastic that includes my daughters grand daughter and sister. Some of my ex wife’s no LOL but they didn’t Exactly get a big prize either. 😂

Another great interview Pea; thanks! I'm honestly a bit baffled over the rampant negativity that Dave is getting from posters. From those who didn't merely post a disparaging remark and actually elaborated a bit, I gather that the main negativity comes from the perception that Dave has made 10 visits to the PI over 20+ years and claims not to have found a good, permanent relationship for himself...and that the "Dave-haters" believe that he is disingenuous with his claims of actually looking for/wanting a serious (presumably permanent) relationship since he hasn't found anyone in all this time and all these trips. I do get that sentiment, and I was wondering similar things while watching his interview. But for those who went further with the ad hominem attacks and said things like: "this guy is unbearable", like his "bright red shirt. He is a walking red flag.", "the kind of dude I never want to travel with"...I didn't get ANY of that. Only Dave knows if he's genuine or insincere in his comments, and he certainly didn't say enough in this interview--nor have we experienced what he did--to know for sure. We can only guess. I found Dave to be a fit, articulate, good sense-of-humored, decent-/good-looking guy for any age--but particularly for HIS age, when for most US men (and many from other nations) searching the PI at his age, they are fat, medically/physically disabled or challenged, don't have good senses of humor, don't seem well-educated, and can't carry on much of a conversation. Many also seem like all they want from a Filipina is youth--regarless of her English skills, intelligence, educational level, looks, or sincerity--just so they can have someone play nurse to them as they quickly move towards their rocking chair/walker/wheelchair years. It appears that a huge percentage have heard the story that Filipinas will disregard looks, age, humor, and intelligence in exchange for someone who will financially take care of them--and they've taken this to heart and clearly demonstrate that they haven't the slightest interest in being and looking their best in their quest for some "arm candy" nurse. While I agree with the disgust over the feminism of many Western women and their entitlement and the legal system that protects them and largely screws over men, it's also though no wonder that many of these men can't land a decent, suitable Western woman since these men have so obviously given up on themselves--in so many key ways--long ago. Thus, do those men try to improve themselves to have a better chance with the women in their home countries, OR even try to better themselves in any way (e.g., get in much better shape, take a night course and/or read a few books, quit the booze (other than perhaps light), quit the smoking, fix themselves up--hair and clothing choices, etc.) when going to the PI (or similar countries like Thailand, etc.)?....The clear answer is "NO!" Thus, I have absolutely NO sympathy or respect for those that fall into those categories. Represent your country well; represent yourself well; and show some respect for the country that you're in and for the women you're pursuing! Otherwise, why not just stay home and rent hookers?! Perhaps Dave IS looking for true, mutual love and a rare "connection", whereas many of you negative posters and many of the age 50+ men who visit the PI are merely looking for your/their future diaper-changer but delusionally and euphemistically calling it "love". For Dave...again, only he knows his true intentions and reasons, but for myself as a US-based man, he certainly looks and sounds like the type of guy with whom I could likely have an enjoyable conversation or dinner...AND if he really doesn't want a serious (certainly not permanent) relationship, then as long as he is completely honest with the women and doesn't deceive them or lead them on in any way, then that's his business. All that said, IF Dave really DOES want a serious, permanent relationship, then after 10 visits to the PI over 20+ years, one (or a combination) of four things is likely going on--1) He really ISN'T interested in a serious, permanent relationship; 2) He has some key flaws that we aren't seeing in this interview; 3) He is unrealistic and super picky in ridiculous ways; and/or 4) He is one of the most unlucky guys to ever visit the PI.

As I told you before it took me 15 years to find the right one. One of the main problems was the Filipinas faults. Faults like family, some their friends or boy friend, her mother, these kind of faults made me feel like I was being used or scammed. When I feel I am being used or being relieved of my money I soon moved on. Then one day while walking thru a store I saw a lady 27 and we have been together 40 plus years with our own children. Our kids are about Pea's age. My mother in law passed on now was a wonderful person. Best of luck.

This was a good interview for lots of laughs. The banter between you two was 🔥. Often people believe that introverts don't like to talk to others and keep completely to themselves like hermits (which for me is often true). The reality is that, although we like our solitude, we are more comfortable in one-on-one situations, or small groups of people we're comfortable with. Dave's beliefs struck me as quite refreshing and unusual for someone from Boston, given that Massachusetts,and Boston in particular, is so liberal and very pro-DEI. That was quite surprising to me, since I'm from RI, which I refer to as southern MA because of its similar politics.

I look at what he's going through sort of like this. When you are looking for something to have with coffee, the choice isn't really of great significance. If you start and you don't like it, you can choose something else. When it comes to a life partner, be very selective. I think that's what he's doing. Some may say that it's strange for someone to take so much time. But he seems to like planning out details. Ultimately, it's his life and he's having fun with the process. I know that when I go to the Philippines, I'm not going to jump the broom with the first girl with whom I speak. I'm very selective in my search for the Pea (the perfect Filipina) of my dreams. I’m a serious introvert. Like, I’m the guy who-if you can get me to go to the party, I’ll camp out in the corner until it’s socially acceptable to leave. Just not great with people. Still though-I’ve been married here in the USA (divorced now) and I’ve had girlfriends. I’ve also had and have friends. This guy is reasonably attractive, seems to be fit, has his hair at 55 (fuck this guy!) So there’s clearly something else going on.

I have always been open and honest and one day a friend said hey you know that girl over there likes you. I looked and said what girl and he told me who. I said she looks 40. He said what no she is only 19 I said damn she had a rough life just think how she will look at 40 she will look 90. Then he said man you always say age is nothing but a number and now listen to you. I said you are right invite her and her friends over and lets see what she is like. So I had a fire going outside in a pit had a few drinks and was cooking a dinner. The girls stopped by and with in the first 45 seconds of her at my house she used the F bomb 20 times. I had to take the F bombs out to try and understand what she was trying to tell us. I didn't understand. I looked at her and said you have a real truckers mouth and she said what is that? I told her what it was and she said yeah I swear and dropped a few more F bombs and then said F this and left. Now it is just me and the friend and he takes a drink and said Bro sorry about that I had no idea she was like that. I said I did and he asked how did you know. I said I have heard her talk before. I told him listen I get it we all swear but not every other word. I then asked just wondering how did you know she liked me? He said a girl I know works with her. Hi Pea. Interesting interview. I am in the same boat as him. I have been chatting to women here for a long time and started coming here in 2015. I made 3 trips here before moving here. Have been here just over 2 years now and still have not found the right one. I have been told you can meet lots of girls at the malls. They say just go sit in the food court and they will come to you. That has never happened. I don't go to church so won't be meeting any there and I am not much for bars. They are usually too noisy and crowded and very hard to talk to anyone. I have dated a few girls here but most are only looking for what they can get. I did date on girl for a while but after a couple months she showed that she was psyhco crazy. A lot that I meet are already taken and have friends say oh I know someone you might like but that never happens. So just staying single and wait for the right one. They say it usually happens when you are not looking for anything. As for all the bashers here I can only say must be nice to be perfect LOL. Keep smiling and stay safe

As you know I have been coming to the Philippines since 2003 , the Philippines was the first S E Asian I came to ,I was doing voluntary work in Dagupan Luzon and Narra Palawan and I was hooked not just the country the people , its the little bit of going back in time .
