I've watched countless big wave videos, and even though this one is rather short, the quality to time ratio is some of the best! You pack in more quality waves and outstanding photography per minute of video than any others that I can think of at the moment. Great stuff! And damn, some of those people took a churning! Amazing athletes!

This is my home break and it is insane. I can see it from my house on the top of the mountain and that day I could hear it from the minute I woke up. Not only is the wave fast as hell, it is cold , dark green and loud as a locomotive chasing you down the tracks and 10 feet behind you. Insane. Not a fun wave or a friendly wave to ride, but hella exciting to watch.

Fantastic footage, I've always loved drone shots on surfing because you can really see the SHAPE of the wave in a way you can't with a straight on view. Never heard of JoJo Roper but his wave was incredibly sick, loved it

I prefer to hear the sounds of the waves and feeling like I’m there over music. But have to say it awes me watching these surfers and their expertise, the poundings they take, and how they go back for more. Just amazing. As usual if Kai isn’t owning nazare , he’s out there making it like it’s another easy day at the office at Mavericks lol😂

The vests have made big wave surfing so much safer than it used to be. It’s still wild but having that inflation vest has been a game changer.

@@fillfreakin2245 inflatable vests have only been out for 7-8 years? Maybe a tiny bit longer, Shane Dorian almost drowned at mavericks and worked with billabong I think to create the inflatable vests.

@@TRIKushbeachside Inflatable life vests have been around much longer than that. You're talking about specially designed vests for surfing. In fact life vests themselves have only been used in surfing more recently, despite the fact they could have been used in big wave surfing for a long time. It just wasn't accepted.

I surfed in HB and SB in my younger days, nothing even close to Mavericks, I'm sure these Surfers are fully trained to hold they're breath for atleast a minute. You get disoriented trying to find the surface too probably, props to the Jet Ski guys!
