Awesome video. I just wanted to share something that has helped me. On Mondays, I'll look up the scripture readings (USCCB website) that are going to be read in mass on next Sunday. I'll mark them in my Bible, study them, find you tube videos that help explain them and try my best to understand the fuller meaning of the readings. Next, when Sunday comes, I'll take my Bible to mass and read along. I find that it really helps me to focus in and receive the Word of God better. I've even noticed a few people at my church also taking their Bibles to mass and reading along too.
@tryingnottobeasmartass7573 жыл бұрын
That's really great! One thing I found helpful (this might not work for everybody) is, like you, to get next week's readings, and then read them Monday through Saturday in a different translations than is used in Mass (usually the King James Version because I was raised as a Baptist on the KJV). Then, when I hear them in the New American Bible, it's like I'm hearing them in a new way.

Hi Taylor, and we are so excited that you are considering converting to the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church! Jesus is reiterating that His focus is on the heavenly realm, not the earthly. He is not dismissing His Mother or telling us to either. "What is of ultimate importance is our relationship to God, and so Jesus indicates that being part of the family of God-the group of those who do God’s will-is more important than having merely natural ties. This does not dismiss his own natural family. They are not excluded from the family of God, but neither are they excused from the need to do God’s will." Mother Mary is the Mother of the Church. While Jesus was on the cross, one of the last decrees He makes is what he said to his mother, “Woman, behold, your son!” Then he said to the disciple, “Behold, your mother!” And from that hour the disciple took her to his own home. We are told that the Apostles are the "pillars of the Church." So, Jesus is really saying "Woman, behold your Church, Church behold thy Mother!"
@CatholicTruthOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Hello John, thank you for your comment, even though you are incorrect. You do not know for sure 100% that the Apostles did not venerate Jesus' Mother. Jesus who was a devout Jewish man would have 100% loved and venerated His Mother. He would have obeyed the 4th commandment "Honor thy mother and thy Father." How are we truly being Christians and loving Christ if we do not love what He loved? The verses in Luke are taken out of context. It simply means that Mary is blessed not only for bearing the flesh of Christ, but most of all because she heard the word of God and obeyed it. She was the most close to Christ; even more than the Apostles. She said "Yes" to God's plan without hesitation. She also said in Luke that "All generations shall call me Blessed." She carried Christ for 9 months and birthed Him, raised him and protected Him with the aid if St. Joseph. She was there at the first miracle, His entire ministry, His Passion, Death, Resurrection, Ascension, and Pentecost. As for Timothy, that is taken out of context as well. St. Paul is saying that Jesus has a unique mediatorship that no one else can possess. Why? Because Jesus is the only human that was fully God, and God that was also fully human. If we go by your logic of this verse, then you cannot ask people to pray for you nor you pray for other people in times of need. That make you a mediator as well!

Good morning father. I have always tried to become a better catholic but lately i got into an argument with my protestant friend, and we were arguing about whether Jesus is God or not and why we celebrate his birth day on the 25th december. Sadly i dont know that much about the way things work, so sadly I couldn’t defend myself and our religion. So I thought I’ll try and get a help from someone who knows more about this. Any chance you could help me out?
@CatholicTruthOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Hello, I'm sorry to hear that you are going through that with your friend. But I am concerned at your comment about your protestant friend questioning the divinity of Christ. If anything at all, that is at least the one commonality we have with Protestants...that we all believe in the divinity of Christ. I'm sorry to say, but if someone does not believe in the divinity of Christ in terms of the Holy Trinity, then they are not a Christian because that changes the entire Christology of Jesus. Here are some ways to prove his divinity. 1. Only God can forgive sins. Jesus forgave sins in: Matthew 9:1-8; Mark 2:1-12. 2. John 1:1- "In the beginning was the Word and the Word was with God and the Word was God." and then we see that "the Word became flesh." 3. St. Thomas after seeing and touching the resurrected Christ in John 20:28 says "My Lord and my God!" As for Christ's birthday...we do not have "concrete" evidence that He was born on the 25th of December as we know it today. We must remember that at the time of Christ we had the Julian Calendar, and in 1582 it switched to the Gregorian. The most important thing is...He was born! That it. The Savior came and died for our sins so that we may not taste death. I hope this helps. Let us know if you need any other questions answered. God bless!

@@AngelGonzalez-ng9ve That is true brother. But if you look at the immediate context, chapter 4 of genesis talks about Lamech, a descendant of Cain who is violent and polygamous. Genesis 5 talks about lineage, but when the story line picks up on genesis 6 its talking about Sons of God (which was a common title to refer to kings, 2 samuel 7:14). I got so much scruples and fear of sinning that I even at the end went lazy and started to delibaretaly sin and neglected scripture and lost a lot of wisdom. I have a lot of tendency towards spiritual sloth and in that degree that I see, for instance a text where it is written it is a mortal sin, i can be indifferent. My heart is quite hardnened and I see that my life is quite poor and boring. I was even indifferent, whether God sees me or not. I even had a habit to read the bible and then disobey "Totally unfruitful", I like the recieving the seed, but my thorns choke it. How do I go out of this hellish circle and thorns and start to bear fruit? I don’t think it is about putting our identity into being a Catholic. We are all accountable to Gods Word in the day of judgment. It is about Christ, putting our identity into Christ.
@CatholicTruthOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Yes, but Christ established the Church to protect and proclaim God's Word faithfully! Everyone claims to go by God's word, but do you know how many religions there are that all contradict each other? Remember: the Bible wasn't first made and put together until 382 A.D. and it was the authority of the Catholic Church that put the Bible together and canonized it. We should trust the authority of the church of Jesus that gave us the bible in the first place. So, our identity is definitely in Christ, but we also must be part of his church which is His body and His bride. God bless.

Galatians 5:16 16So I say, walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh. 17For the flesh craves what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the flesh. They are opposed to each other, so that you do not do what you want.… Participating in the the energies by the Spirit, provided for, by your faith in Christ and found in the Eucharist give both a mental and living sanctification, the reality of walking out your salvation whilst still in your tent. This is true participation in the divine nature 2 Peter speaks of . Galatians illustrates what James 2 explains to the church that is lacking “a living faith” .

Prayer is supposed to strain you because it elevates you beyond your own nature. It's a calling of the soul rather than the passions. Our passions bog us down so we fight them in order to pray and that's the value of the merit in doing so. If your passion pushed you to pray, you'd spend 24/7 in it and how much would it truly merit you? If ice cream was good for me, I'd eat nothing but ice cream. Sighing is a perfectly normal reaction to prayer... and if you're "enjoying" praying, then you need to enjoy it less and do it more hardcore so that it causes you strain. Prayer is meant to continue to elevate you to uncomfortable places because you are elevating yourself beyond where you are and where you're used to being. Striving for excellence in real life means braving the unknown and the unfamiliar; it is no different when it comes to prayer and worshipping God.

question, do you accept vatican 2??? vatican 2 says that Jews are right with God without accepting Jesus and becoming a christian. it says Jews still have the first covenant with God thats unconditional. this is contradicted by Jesus in the 8th chapter of John telling Jews who had rejected him that they were the children of the devil. do you agree with vatican 2 or Jesus??
@CatholicTruthOfficial3 жыл бұрын
Yes we accept Vatican II as it's an official authoritative Council of the Catholic Church. With that being said, Vatican II does not claim the Jews are right with God without Jesus, and in fact the Council states a very many places that Jesus is the only way to heaven, the only mediator, and the we need to evangelize other religions and bring them to, or back to, the Catholic Church. It is also clear that Jesus is the only way to heaven. It doesn't say the Jews still have the Covenant; rather the church says it remembers the Covenant that they had and which we received from them, and all that we received from them: the Scriptures, prophets, tradition, etc. The comment kind of sounds like a Protestant comment. Prots say, "The bible says that Jesus saves. You Catholics say that Sacraments save. Do you believe Jesus or your church?" However, they are misunderstanding both Jesus and the church. Same here. There are no doctrinal errors in Vatican II and it was guided and protected by the Holy Spirit. What the church was trying to do was create a common ground where they could, to find things we have in common with each religion, no matter how small. This would serve as a stepping stone to then evangelize them and tell them about Christ and the church. This is the mind of the Council. Thanks for the comment.

@@CatholicTruthOfficial please watch this short video....kzbin.info/www/bejne/oKrKZ42pbNuti68 I come from the protestant church ( I no longer am a protestant as I reject faith alone salvation) where its taught that Jews are still Gods people due to the old covenant which they teach is still in effect for the Jews. ( duel covenant theology). this is utter heresy. yet pope john paul and pope francis have said the jews dont need to be evangelised as they already have a valid covenant with God..

James, praise God you are seeing the errors or Protestantism. The Jews were cut off in many places in the Bible including Romans 11 for example, Mt. 23. and others. Jesus called them a Synagogue of Satan. While Jesus commands us to love everyone, Jesus started a new church, a worldwide church of the New Covenant, the Catholic Church. We agree with Al, above. That website is from a heretical, schismatic sect that doesn't even believe that there's been a real pope in over 50 years. It was started by two brothers who are way off the reserve. We won't even give them the time of day. But if you would like to quote Vatican II where they are supposed to say that the Jews are right with God void of Jesus. This makes zero sense and the Catholic church has never and would never teach this. It flatly contradict Catholic teaching. I would delete that site from your browser. But it's up to you. Catholic Truth is an actual Catholic organization who teaches what the Church teaches. We are happy to help you understand the Catholic faith. God bless.

What on earth would you want to be a 'better Catholic' for? Do you not understand your Bible at all? ALL our acceptance before God is IN CHRIST JESUS. He has fully satisfied and is the total delight of God the Father. Christ has completely dealt with the sin question and is now seated in Heaven with the glory of God resting on His face. ALL RELIGION takes you further and further away from God, NOT closer. Religion is SELF RIGHTEOUSNESS. Doing your best, etc. You would be far better getting to know your Saviour, the Lord Jesus Christ. Enjoying all the things about His life, His death and His resurrection (that is 'eating' Him). Not the eucharist. Then after that you can understand and enjoy all the things that Christ brings us into in Himself now and in the future in Heaven (read the apostolic letters). You want to be a loving Christian, not a better Catholic. Christ deserves ALL the love and all the glory as it is He who has died. Self gratification and self righteousness is sin before God.

Why do we want to be Catholic? Because Jesus started the Catholic Church? Why would anyone want to be part of a man-made church when they could be part of the true church of Jesus. Where does the Bible say all religion takes you further away from God. It doesn't. True religion has nothing to do with self-righteousness and everything to do with humbling yourself before God and worshiping Him. You are confused about religion. It's also not about doing our best as you said. That's false religion. True religion is about following Christ and his commandments and loving Him. People who have Jesus without His body the Church don't actually have Jesus and won't for eternity. You cannot have the head without His body.

@@CatholicTruthOfficial Sorry, but that is just Roman Catholic nonsense. The church at Rome was just one of many church assemblies around Europe. Each of the epistles were to different church assemblies, all formed at the same time as Rome if not before. The only true religion was given to the Israel by Moses. It was called the Law. It has been superseded by Grace since Christ has come and fulfilled the Law in Himself. Our only hope is 'in Christ', not in any 'church' system, and especially not in the Roman Catholic system of lies and deceit. How could the Lord Jesus have possibly started the Catholic Church when Christianity didn't even start until Christ was dead, buried, resurrected and glorified and 50 days after and the Holy Spirit sent from Heaven. The church was not even understood until the apostle Paul was given the teaching by the glorified Jesus Christ. It was revealed to Paul, not Peter. The church is basically gentile, while Peter was the apostle to the Jews. Your assumptions are all nonsense. Christ is Head of a spiritual body, composed of living stones (Christians), who together form a habitation of God by the Spirit. It is not bricks and mortar built in Rome. Even the apostle Peter himself in his epistles agrees with me.

@@tryingnottobeasmartass757 So you decide not to answer at all. Is that because you have no defence against my statement of fact. Jesus said: Thou art Peter (a small stone), and upon this rock (that Christ is the Son of the living God) I will built MY church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it. Read Deuteronomy ch. 32 v 4, 15, 18, 30 etc. Psalm ch. 31 v 3, etc. The Bible is perfectly clear, the Rock is God and no ordinary man. Jesus was declared by God the Father, through Peter, that Jesus was the Son of the living God. The Christian church, starting at Pentecost, was founded on the fact that Jesus was raised from the dead, is living and is God even though He was on earth as a man. Read 1st Peter ch. 2 v 4, 5, 7 and 8. All born of the Spirit believers are 'living stones' builded together to form a spiritual house and a habitation of God by the Spirit. In verse 8 Peter tells us that Jesus is a ROCK of stumbling to the Jews. Christ's spiritual habitation for God, His church, shall never be corrupted and Satan can do nothing against it. NOW - take at look at the most corrupt, evil 'religious' system on the earth, called the Roman Catholic church, with all it's paedophile priests and money grabbing cardinals who choose their leader for their own benefits, regardless of how much they corrupt their own Catholic doctrines. NOW, tell me Hades and Satan has not prevailed against it and in it.
