DIY Detail's 10 Efficiency Tips 1. Film yourself to watch yourself. 2. Have your stuff nearby. 3. Use rinseless wash. 4. Have the right amount of light. 5. Don't detail for detailers (opinions/standards). 6. Create your own Standard Operating Procedures. 7. More product is rarely better. 8. Fewer products, fewer decisions. 9. Learn from others at in person trainings. 10. Be a lifelong learner. Bonus: Use compressed air. I love DIY Detail because they make auto detailing as an enthusiast (non-professional) simple. A simple and effective lineup of products. A simple way of how-to as well.

My time saving tip- For me, it's all about taking my time to pick out what products are needed for the job. Make the time to enjoy the ASMR moments with making you car look as good as possible. Have the satisfaction that you have done the right amount of perfecting that makes you feel happy and amazed at the results. Detailing is an outlet for my OCD and feel I can get on with everything else in my life knowing that my car is perfect

Great video, I’m all about efficiencies. I run a service company and I teach many of the same things as you do in detailing. One of my efficiency hacks is that I have a 4 litre jug that I premix my all clean (15:1) with distilled water ready to go to put in my ik foamer. Saves time and the all clean coming out of the foamer for wheel cleaning has saved me so much time. Keep up the great videos and the great products.

Another podcast full of great information. I have been completely blasted for stating how I can clean, decontaminate, polish, and ceramic coat a vehicle in under four hours by myself. The sad part is my speed still needs to improve. One aspect I learned is having someone who is not skilled at a skill and let them try ideas they have after you show them the sop. More than once associates found an improved efficiency in doing the skill set. I will say again Gold Standard polish is amazing and the efficiency gained when doing a polish and a jewel step is huge. The only new products I am looking at is a one year spray coating and a glass coating. I know the wax coming soon will fill and hide scratches. Thank you!

I am a weekend warrior. Spent thousands of £ on detailing products, tools, accessories and having fun. Used to spend 2-3 hours on a weekend to clean my car. By all means, I still bring out the pressure washer and foam cannon, but not as often since I switched to rinseless. The set up for rinseless wash is just so much faster and I don’t have to worry about getting foam everywhere, especially combined with the pressure washer during the finally clean up stage, washing buckets, grid guard, wash mitts, brushes etc. Still got amazing results and only takes me less than an hour to do so.

Nick, that 20 hr comment was me! To clarify, I meant everything in under 20 hrs. As in wash, chemical & mechanical decontamination, polish/correction, prep, & coating. As Yvan mentioned, it's all about workflow. If I removed the machine polish/correction step, I can easily do all the rest in 5 hrs with results I'm very happy with. It is simply my lack of machine polishing experience that hinders me. It still appears to me as a basic math issue, as in if I'm only doing 3 passes per section in 2×2 sections give or take....this is still far more time than all other steps combined to hit every part of the car. The only possible way I can see this being sped up is by moving the machine faster(which may not give enough working time to cut), & using rinseless to buff off the polish quicker. Aside from that, I clean my pads (when needed) in seconds & apply bare minimum of product to pad as well as pre planned my route & had all "tools" within arms reach. The math still doesn't add up to me that moving the machine a tiny bit faster & a quicker buffing of residue will shave well over 6 hours off. Just need more time with the tool I guess.

It’s a combination of many factors, and one is learning to not over polish a section. Here’s a video that may help. kzbin.info/www/bejne/iHnccpyQj8yKq8Usi=H2H0OuZ24xU4VYGd

Another possibility might be using a slightly more aggressive pad to achieve the same results with fewer passes. If you are doing 3 passes on every section and can reduce that to 2 passes per section by switching from, let's say a foam cutting pad to a mf pad, that's going to cut significant time off your process

General rule: Inside-Out Top-to-Bottom Pick a side, and go around one-way Inside cleaning 1. If you have air(brush is fine too), blow all the debris from top to bottom, let it accumulate on the carpet. Keep the removable carpet in until you're done with blowing. 2. Clean and Finish with Big surfaces(Seats/Carpet) Outside cleaning - If you decide to clean the engine bay, do it when the chemicals are dwelling on the wheels. Clear the leaves, and cover the parts that needs it. Finish the wheels, rinse the brush, and continue on to the engine, using the same brush. again, leave the big surface last, for satisfaction and to keep yourself energized. If I do it the other way around, my mind is already whining while cleaning the carpet, and i might not do a good of a job.

I don't know about this kind of work. However, my suggestion to the diy'er would be to brake this down by area and function. A: car washing. What products, used together, can remove extra steps or products. B: Demo products that can be combined into one. These would be time and work efficiency. C: polishing. What processes can save time and work effort? Break processes, show products and demo them. Learning is faster by seeing than in talking. Thank you for your work and for sharing.

My issues with interiors is they don’t have to be at all bad, but getting all the scum jam and drink spills on interior panel creases/shifters etc just doesn’t budge with a rinseless solution. For extremely light dusting etc, it’s perfect. So much so, I’ve got a stack of dry biodegradable bamboo wipes soaked in DIY rinseless, and stored in a reusable small baby-wipe travel case. But for scummy stuff that isn’t even that bad, I struggle.

OK, well I do have a question. I recently got an IK sprayer for pre-rinse and pre-contact wash spraying of Rinseless Wash. Lot of pumping there and Im not willing to drop 200 for a keg sprayer yet. So i got to thinking about PIR. I know its mostly a scam to get people to put 4% soap into a snowfoam in their cannon. But if i have a genuine and measured PIR of 1L in the cannon = 10L in the bucket (at say max setting on the cannon), I was wondering about using the foam cannon to deliver rinseless wash to the car at the correct dilution. If Rinseless is 256:1 and my cannon effectively spits out 10,000ml when I run the container of 1000ml to empty, this means I just need to add enough rinseless into the bottle to get the 10L dilited at 256:1 which as ivan is always saying is 4ml to the L. So put 40ml of rinseless into the bottle (becasue ultimately it outputs 10L) and it will output rinseless at 256:1. Is this a much cheaper way to dispense rinseless onto the car, if I already have the foam cannon? (obviously I dont care about trying to get rinseless to foam). Matt

I was thinking on using it to help emulsify the dirt in a pre wash stage on my car when I am just using a hose and i am not using my pressure washer and foam cannon to blast off the dirt before the contact wash. @@diydetailofficial does this knly apply to using DIY Detail brand pads and polish? I never see dampening mentioned in any other context than using DIY Detail products and often see it stressed that pads need to be dry.

You just slightly mentioned the haze. I don't see that haze, sometimes, until I get the car outside in the sun. How do I polish, especially if I do mostly all in one type polish, without ever getting that haze? That, for me, is a time consuming step. Because I then have to go back and re-polish those areas.

Finish with a rotary, no haze

@diydetailofficial I'm sorry. That's not an option for me because I don't use, or know how to use, a rotary. I've seen more folks haze out and leave more trails with a rotary. Amy thoughts or ideas for a DA.

By the way, wanted to let you guys know that after using the DIY Rinseless and wiping down the outside windshield, there was no streaking. Normally after any rinseless wash I always go over the glass with glass cleaner to touch up. Looked at the glass and noticed it didn't have any kind of streaks. Road tested in the western sun, and bingo. Nothing!!! Just my two cents. This eliminated one big step at the end for me.

Sorry, misunderstood your question, yes PPF can be installed over a coating. No PPF will not replace ceramic coating.

No, PPF won’t - simply because of the cost being at least 3x the cost of a very good pro coating.

#1 tip Southold be diyers overthinking everything and using 20 products for 20 different things when 3 or 4 products can clean everything inside and out.. keep it simple and incorporate rinseless wash for glass cleaning, clay lube. interior surface wipe etc. boom 1 product for 3 or 4 things. 💪

Can we get a video on how to remove orange peel?
@diydetailofficial
@diydetailofficial 7 ай бұрын
Unfortunately that’s not a video we plan on making, while removing orange peel sounds great, it isn’t something we condone because of the damage it causes to the paint, and a car without orange peel is much more difficult to maintain.

Professional detailers want people to think detailing is hard and labor intensive so guys like me pay them too much to do it for them. It’s kind of like magicians in that they keep their tricks secret and it’s taboo to share them with the public. I’m a DIY kind of guy so I figured it out myself along with the help of great people like Yvan and Nick…thank you guys!
