I am 75 and I try not to sweat the small stuff. My husband passed away several years ago and I have tried to find a new purpose for my life. Time seems to move at warp speed the older you get but I am grateful for each day that I have good health and the means to enjoy a comfortable lifestyle. I live by myself and enjoy taking care of my grandchildren occasionally. Thank you Margaret for your helpful and uplifting advice and subject matter. Food for thought.

.Margaret, I've been watching you more regularly lately, and since my husband passed a few months ago. I'm age 72. You have become an invaluable part of my day. I just enjoy listening to your kind voice and watching you in the beautiful colors you choose and wear and your always beautiful boquets of roses in the background. Keep going, beautiful woman!

I have one to add - Don't use age as an excuse. A number of my friends use the former as an excuse - one has to be realistic (as you stated) at any age to one's physical limitations. There is a difference between "I do not have a desire to _______" and "I am too old to ____________".
@pam3744 Жыл бұрын
Agree! I’ve noticed this with my friends and I alternate between anger and sadness when I hear their comments.

Margaret, you said it right in the beginning “change is inevitable and we have to adapt”. Start with changing little things. Change the order of your closet, change the color of your purse, rearrange and change your stuff in your dresser drawers. Move a few things around in your kitchen just to change things up…you might really like the change. What ever it is that you don’t use or need anymore, take a photo of it and let it go. You won’t miss it. And you might have extra space, for a change! I’ll be 70 in September and for now I like change. Thank you for this video.

I’m 72, widowed for over 13 years. One thing I think is important is to accept the things you cannot do, but really celebrate the things you can. Also accept yourself as you are. Do not compare yourself to women in advertisements or on TV. Acceptance brings contentment and happiness in my opinion. Margaret in Vancouver.

Realalistic is so spot on. Mix in gratitude and love oneself is imperative. Joy starts in the heart and pumps throughout our soul. I may never be a biological grandmother, but I am one to my neighborhood. We can spread love around even in our sunset years which can be golden .❤ 🌇 🌅 🌆 🌄

Thank you Margaret. Its nice to hear your comments on things no one in my world is talking about. I turned 70 a few months ago and before that i was working full time in a miserable office until the company let the whole department go due to new management. I decided to work part time at a store i like. I lost weight and get to talk people and i have really enjoyed it. I have also lost some weight which has helped and just being out and interacting with people has been great instead of working in s cube. It has really been a good change for me. I wasnt sure if i could handle it financially but it has been 5 months and it has been good and it has been a nice change. I honestly dont know what i will do next. My faith has helped me feel like i don't need to have all the answers . I have health issues but me losing some weight has me not being in a cube all day. I live alone and have no family near me so getting out around people has helped. I love my home and gardening but cold weather and the holidays coming up may be an challenge but who knows. Its nice hearing about people having the same issues and what they are doing. Thanks again!

Thanks Margaret, also for your daily emails - love being in discussions! I honestly do not know where my work ends and my hobbies start! I am constantly scurrying around, with work to earn rent and food money, piano and organ for concerts, and playing for our chapel services; I also am now being invited to sing, and get paid for doing so, at events! I would rather be busy creatively than just sit, like some folk here in our retirement community are doing - they are miserable, with zero hobbies or interests. Terribly sad to see....Yes, I agree, to cultivate an attitude of thankfulness is vital, as well as choosing joy each day, in spite of your circumstances. I continue to learn, I have such an inquiring mind! 🙂

It has helped me to lose weight and enjoy being more active and interacting with people. Who knows what I will do next. I don't have relatives close by but i don't feel like i need to have all the answers anymore. I love being at home gardening and doing what I want to do or not do!

Hi Margaret, how have you been since your hospital visit,? I hope you are feeling good!! I am 71 and I feel so grateful for my good health and exercise daily, take classes and love to grow. I never feel invisible, I say hello to everyone and spread my love and joy to all those around me. We are as happy as we choose to be if we're lucky enough to be in good health. Ladies, you can always eat healthier, exercise, dance, learn new things and choose to be positive. With love...Thank you Margaret!! I think you're a blessing ❤🎉😊😊

Margaret, I will turn 74 this month. It is a big number but hopefully I will enjoy even bigger numbers someday. I finally retired at 72 and what a change for me! Suddenly, I experienced an identity crisis, a financial crisis, the medicare nightmare, loss of social contacts. Wow! It took at least a year for me to find my comfort zone....at least somewhat so. I am really looking forward to being 74. I am much more relaxed, more comfortable with taking things at a slower pace, less stress over minor things. Taking better care of my health. I have even joined a Christian Community where I can virtually attend Sunday service. Even though I was raised Catholic, there was not emphasis on The Bible. I now I am learning about what is in the Bible. Last Spring spent 5 1/2 weeks travelling to visit family and friends and I absolutely loved it. Now I have at least one or two travelling visits visits on my to do list.

Thanks a lot Margaret . I reiterate , I am your age 74 yo , I enjoy all your topics, and just seeing & hearing you . I agree with all 10 ways to embrace the 70s. I was a banker for 42 yrs and now with a Foundation for almost 11 years as Exec Director . I also trained as Life Coach some 12 yrs ago, so I can also do counselling . One thing I added to the 10 ways which I am actively doing now is - serve in the Lord’s vineyard . I am a commisioned Lector/ Commentator in Catholic Holy Masses and I sing with one of the church’s choir every Sunday . So fulfilling indeed . And for your “ stay active “ reminder ? I drive myself to work 5 days a week. A good 20 km one way or 40 km daily . Praise God for all these graces & blessings & having you to inspire us .

Turned 70 a couple of months ago. It's..... OK. I have noticed signs of aging that I didn't notice before, although I've almost always been mistaken for younger than my years, and I seem to gain weight just by looking at a piece of cake (nah, I love to cook and since there's no one to cook for, I eat it all myself. :-) ). Didn't expect to be alone at this time of life, which isn't to say I'm not used to it. I know how to live by myself well enough but I didn't expect it and truth be tolddon't prefer it. But for the moment, it is what it is. I'm a little lonely, a little bored, mostly because I currently live in a small city that doesn't offer much, and is not as walkable as I'd hoped, but I'm planning to move back to a larger city next year. Feel kind of like I'm in a holding pattern.... but trying to stay positive.
