Sometimes it’s good to live in the space for a little while before making changes. That way you know what you need. I’ve been in my home now for 6 months and realize how dark my house feels. I’m going to paint all the walls in an off white or pale yellow to brighten it up. There’s lots of windows but the previous owners painted the walls in deep taupe and terracotta. I’ll be painting one room at a time come spring. 😁

Yess! That’s so true and I have such a hard time with taking time 🥲🥲 my husband keeps reminding me it’s better to wait while I just want to rush everything 😂🥲 but it’s sooo true. I feel like when we wait a little longer we can make better decisions when renovating or decorating our home too 🫶🏻

that’s a great tip about using canva to see how all the pieces will look together. thank you. i’m currently in the process of moving and need a A LOT of new things so this will be handy. Your space is really coming together nicely. So bright and open. One tip i’ll add is to respect the integrity and character of the home. I was originally looking to decorate in a minimal Scandinavian style but we purchased a lakefront cape cod style home and now i’m switching to decorate according to the nature of the house. Hope that makes sense ☺️

Plus, you can update the decor whenever you want while leaving everything else (the more expensive items or more permanent pieces) relatively the same. It that is a real olive tree watch out for the moisture that will seep from the bottom of the pot right to those hardware floors. I have all my plants sitting on a 12 in stand to protect the floors.

You lost me with the $200+ olive tree. Spending more than $200 on a discretionary item is NOT "budget" decor. In my world, $200 buys a WHOLE ROOM of thrifted furniture. I'm looking for ideas that don't break my bank account.

Yes, the olive tree I own isn’t “budget” but the main reason for that is because I bought the 5ft size which is about 4-5 years of growth so they charge more for it but if you buy a smaller one, which is usually $50 and wait for it to grow, that will be a much more affordable option.
