It’s well known that HHH is very fond of Regal and that’s a big part of the reason. Regal has his detractors backstage for sure and it’s completely justified but he also has a lot of good qualities and it does seem like he’s become a much better person. I don’t know him and maybe there are things that would change that opinion but that’s how it looks to me and as a wrestling mind he’s an all time great for sure

Undertaker should've definitely been in this list. WCW told Mark Calaway that he had talent, but no one would pay to watch him wrestle. Taker definitely helped make WCW Rest In Peace.

Mean Mark Callous… He even walked the ropes in WCW.. and the rarely used heart punch… Oh who would’ve thought watching WCW on tbs in the late 80s and seeing him walk the ropes would’ve translated into one of the top 5 of all time…

He wasn't exactly a loser. He was in a big shot tag team (Skyscrapers mk2) that got to beat down The Road Warriors no less, he had Paul E Dangerously and Teddy Long as managers and he got World and US title shots against Sting and Lex respectively (the former as the main event of a house show, latter on PPV at GAB '90). When we watched Survivor Series '90 on video in a school lunchbreak, the most exciting thing about The Undertaker was the fact that everyone recognised him as Mean Mark off late night WCW tapes.
@kurtvanderbogarde8402
@kurtvanderbogarde8402 11 ай бұрын
It was Ole Anderson who said that "no one will pay" thing to Mean Mark Callous. and he was a poison who deliberately screwed up younger wrestlers to get them to quit so his old pals could have jobs. His worst deed was cutting Sting's first World title reign short after 6 months when Sting should have just have held on to it for a year and been the one to put over Luger at GAB '91 with Luger turning on him at the end of a babyface match and going with Harley Race and Mr Hughes. Ole lobbied for Flair - who is nowadays his worst enemy - to be reinstalled as champion. Even Flair admits he was in no fit mental state to be champion in early '91 and with that stupid short haircut he definitely didn't look the part.

In an alternate universe, Brian Armstrong and Kip Montana would be multiple times tag team champions and be in an era defining stable with Terra Ryzing and the L Kid in that promotion. Also Bruiser Mastino and Mark Callous would have epic Inferno matches and Buried Alive matches over there. Not forgetting Mark Callous 21-0 streak at Starcade.

What do you mean "instead" of having Jericho? He developed his entire character and did his best work in WCW! On the other hand, WWF treated him like a mid-carder for years and years. Then after he won the Undisputed Championship, finally being treated by WWE as a headliner for all of 5 minutes, he went back to playing second-fiddle to Stephanie in their on/off love/hate comical feud. WWE never knew how to use him. As for Paul Levesque, his only notable talents to this day are pouting for the camera and spitting water, so no great loss there. If it wasn't for his aforementioned "friend in high places" he'd still be jobbing out to the likes of Alex Wright.

@@sukhastings4200 WCW didn't "miss the boat" on Taker, he just didn't have the talent at that stage. Hunter is garbage, his only notable skills are spitting water and pouting for the camera. Well, to be fair, "Stunning" Steven Austin in WCW was the same as he'd been in companies before he came there, he kept the persona he had established prior to coming there. He held the World TV, US, and World Tag titles. Let's not forget that WWE originally gave him "The Ringmaster" gimmick which wasn't really over. When Triple HHH came to WWE as Hunter Heart Helmsley he basically had the same gimmick he had as John Paul Levesque in WCW. They eventually lost the whole aristocrat part of the gimmick, but he was a midcard guy until DX which he was a part of because of his friendship with Shawn. He then later married the daughter of the guy who owned the company.

Also, what do you think are the odds that he wouldn't have gotten fired after The Curtain Call (before DX even existed) if he hadn't been friends with Shawn? He was with Stephanie for a while before they got married in real life and from what I've read she without a doubt was big advocate for him before anyone even knew they were dating. His friendship with Shawn gave him a BIG break and his relationship with Stephanie locked him in as a made man.

I think WWF often invested in physique to just deliver some awe inspiring show. But nevertheless their „Talent Management“ was much better and they really elevated Taker, Kane, Mankind etc. to new heights. And they also managed to make Kid, Road Dogg, Edge etc. look good. Same with Jericho, Guerrero etc. But you could see when they’re serious about a character and push it, such as the whole Mankind build up. And there were others like Ric Flair who most probably had there best times outside of WWF.

@@sebastianb.3978 The thing was that The Undertaker wouldn't have worked in WCW, it was a different set of fans. It was perfect for the cartoonish world of the WWF, yet WCW fans circa 1990 were a *very* different bunch. Remember, in 1990, WCW fans still had the Flair vs Steamboat series fresh in their minds. *That* was what WCW was about. WCW tried that Dungeon of Doom nonsense and The Yeti, and it blew. When WCW formulated the NWO storyline, it brought the company back to what it had been previously. WCW wasn't the place for The Undertaker, Papa Shango, and those types of things.
