Ultimo Dragon was way underused.. Loved his entrance with the Pyro

Yeah! People pretend they liked Dean Malenkos style now, because it's the "in" thing to be into small technical wrestlers, but people who are old af like me remember the only cruiserweights in wcw people gave a shit about were jericho, kidman, the Mexicans and Japanese wrestlers. Ultimo Dragon was my personal favourite along with La Parka. Dean Malenko was around 15 years too early. Today where people get hard for PWG dance routines they'd love him, but when he was around he was never entertaing and never would have been a draw back then even with a major push.

All three were established stars well before they went to the WWE. Ray was with WCW until the very end. He and all the rest of the cruiserweights have never had the same kind of exposure and push that they got on Nitro. Every single show they were featured prominently and had some of the best matches in the history of the industry. Vince and the WWE have always preferred bigger wrestlers and have favoured them over the smaller guys. Those three would never have even been given a chance to shine in the WWE had they not already been developed into stars by WCW.

I would like to bring clarity to the reference “adding the word new” does not translate into success. He was speaking of adding the word “New” in front of an old gimmick that previously worked. Let's see 1) Kanyon was just given the US Title he didn't ever win it. Shane told Booker T to give him the title for being the Alliance MVP. 2) A lot of these guys didn't live up to their potential. As Vince said "I give opportunities." He hopes that the ppl he signs will "get over" it isn't on Vince it is the talent's job. 3) He being Vince didn't buy WCW to bury it. He bought it because he wanted to one day create a library for sone of the greatest matches ever seen. We wouldn't have War Games in NXT or Clash of The Champions or Starcade or the ability to learn about some of the greatest champions of the past. 4) Vader was extremely out of shape and injured throughout his run. J.R. tried to help him but Vader didn't want to listen. J.R. had seen what can happen with Andre and didn't want it to happen to Vader or Yokozuna. Did Shawn cause problems...hell yes. He was well an arrogant P.O.S. or as he said "a hand-full" Shawn had the weight of the company on his shoulders during that time also NWO ring a bell? Vader was a little arrogant and believed his own hype. Mr. Wonderful Paul Orndorff helped kinda cure that with a butt kicking while wearing shower shoes. Just saying.

Pretending that Vince somehow bought WCW out of generosity to wrestling fans so we could have the honour of having to fork out cash to watch a show that WWE had no part in producing is stretching just a little. Streaming services weren't a thing back in 2001. Vince bought WCW to put it out of business so he could monopolize the industry. That's it. What's more, it was sold off for no good reason for far less than it was actually worth. WCW never failed, it was killed by TimeWarner when they sold it to Vince, who promptly buried it. Nitro in 2001 was still pulling ratings of over 2.0 - Raw today in 2022 is lucky if they get 0.5. Same with Dynamite on the very same networks WCW used to be on.

Maybe he would of been used better if he wasn't detained in Kuwait for losing his temper

what seems to be a reoccuring theme with a lot of these guys is that Vince/ WWE creative didnt know how to use these guys properly. Jim Cornette has also said Vader didnt help his case b/c he was kind of a whiner.

It was a complete joke to not push Flash Funk from the start, Lance Storm was at the right place at the wrong time, they should have push Lex Luger as a heel WWE champion, and Vader was a complete disaster for the company.
