For a long time, I never realized that Brother Bruti was The Disciple since the sunglasses and facial hair disguised him. Warrior's comment about him being Hogan's barber was a dead giveaway, though. As for Jannetty, his biggest contribution to WCW, imo, was being defeated by Jericho before the future Y2J decided to read off his list of 1,004 holds.

Only in WCW would a run that includes winning the United States, Tag Team, and World Heavyweight Championships, be considered a Flop.

Those US title runs weren't great, and by the time he won the World Heavyweight Championship, Starrcade '99 was around the corner. So yeah, especially compared to his WWF run, that was a flop

I’d make a big case that Madusa deserves a spot on this list. For as famous as she disposed of the title, exclaiming WCW was where the real women played. As such, she got pitted into a rivalry where she was never able to win the Women’s Title, which was only held by one person: Akira Hokuto. Where their feud ended with Madusa being forced to “retire” and then being relegated to nothing more than a glorified valet for the rest of her run in the company. Of course, WCW was the absolute worst promotion for women wrestlers as they clearly showed they had no idea how to build them as performers or write them into the show.

Women's wrestling in the 90's wasn't over with fans anywhere during the 90's, at least not in the US. Medusa was the only consistent legit female wrestler in both WCW and WWF aside from the talent they would bring in from Japan. Who else could Medusa work with? I can't name 5 female wrestlers from that era. You can't blame WCW creative for Medusa not being utilized like you think she should have.

@@butchvito Malia Hosaka, Chigusa Nagayo, Akira Hokuto, Bull Nakano, & Rhonda Singh, all of which were on the WCW roster, and could have been developed if they were given the opportunity. Sadly, she had more relevant rivalries and excellent marches with Nakano & Singh in WWF.

What I thought was intresting in the Jannetty tweet, he said "the first time I made a man disappear...". So unless he has a side hustle as a magician, there are other bodies out there. He needs to answer some questions about this storyline.

Obviously Cultaholic don't count titles in WWE before it became WWF because if they did they would know the WWWF had it's own version of the US title from breaking off from the NWA in 1963 to 1976 . This title was held by Bobo Brazil , he was the first and last holder another thing he had it on 7 occasions and was the first African-American singles champion in WWWF/WWF/WWE . Other champions include John Barend and The Sheik .

Ahmed Johnson was my first favourite wrestler. He’s gotta honestly be one of the biggest “what if” wrestlers of all time. He had it all but was just too hard headed and too hard to work with. Back in the 90s, it would’ve been epic to put the belt on him. But he couldn’t talk and couldn’t stop hurting everyone…including himself.

Problem with Ahmed Johnson in WCW was that he came with alot of extra weight and couldn't move properly in the ring. Luckely, after only a few weeks, WCW made one of rare right decisions at the time and sent Johnson and most of the Harlem Heat 2000, with sole exception of Stevie Ray (who did take an extended hiatus of almost an year from WCW after it), packing.

Not likely, as Nash and Hall did not give two shits about others, but making the best amount for themselves. Focusing on Bret would get them nowhere, but take away making deals for themselves. Honestly, Bischoff really had no idea what to do with Bret. Creatively, WCW sucked.

@nathanmiller8213 Жыл бұрын
Seeing Honky Tonk Man listed a lot in the comments - gotta disagree, HTMs peak relevance was from the mid to late 80s, the Rhythm & Blues joke tag team, the UWF fiasco and a number of years in the Indys really killed his heat. As for the list- Jannetty, coming off the New Rockers job team and his ECW run hadn't really been a name in years, and Neidhart was past his prime. Johnson was 5 years past his high point. But DBS, Hart and Warrioe are certainly apt (and, I suppose Darsow, who was a huge example of "If you can't use the persona that made him a big name, be wary of signing").

Bret Hart was also a three time US Champion, all won in 1998, and a one time WCW World Heavyweight Champion, besides his Tag Team title reign with Goldberg. But he was right from the beginning. The only reason he flopped in WCW was because WCW had only one single use for him - to rub it in Vince's face that they got him after Montreal Screwjob. After the fuss over Montreal went mostly forgotten after few months, Hart was stuck in WCW with neither side having any real plans.

Wrestlers from WCW that flopped in WWE was because they weren't good enough. But...WWE wrestlers that flopped in WCW is because WCW didn't know how to use them....or at least that's what the belief is.

Tammy "Sunny" Sytch or whatever you call her is not a Star, or even remotely a legit WWE Hall of Famer. Chyna should've been inducted into the WWE hall of Fame way before Sunny or instead. It's still annoying that even in 2022 Chyna has not been inducted into the WWE hall of Fame by herself without being considered part of a group. Sunny on the other hand is still a hall of famer despite how she seems to get arrested almost on a monthly basis.

I don’t think Roddy Piper’s reign in WCW was much better either. The Honkytonk man was much more popular in WWE than he was coming to WCW.

@@KingPigeon891 yeah, There was a time when the IC Title basically was the title that talent would hold that either 1) was waiting for a World Title Shot/Run/Feud or 2) were seriously hot and basically Main Eventers but just never made it to WWE title level. It was considered the "Work Horse Title", especially when primarily Hogan was keeping a grip on the Title (Warrior aside, but he was over as hell) Ricky Steamboat, Macho Man, Honky Tonk Man, Warrior, Bret Hart, Shawn Michaels, Razor Ramon, Steve Austin, Rock, HHH...

He was clearly being earmarked to be a main event guy if not the top guy from when he debuted in late 95 until maybe a year or so later when things kept happening. So yeah, he was briefly a star for sure. And btw the IC title meant infinitely more at the time.

For his time & the fact he was the first African American wrestler to hold a singles belt in the E, he 100% WAS a star. Even if it was "only" the Intercontinental Championship.

Vince was pushing Johnson really hard in 96, giving him the IC belt and calling him 'The People's Champion' before Rock. He was pretty much the top mid-carder for a time and it seemed like the company was prepped to put him in the main event. Thankfully, everyone realized Johnson was lazy, arrogant and dangerous in the ring and halted his push.
