_________________________________________________
** I've had several requests to post this video without the background music. Thanks for the feedback! **
Correction: I made a mistake in the section on the three words for love and said that “philo” was the Greek word used in the 1 Corinthians passage. The word used here is actually “agape.” I apologize. Thank you to those who caught this mistake.
Does Jesus tell us that the poor will be blessed?
Should couples remember that love is patient and kind?
Is Sunday supposed to be a day of rest or a day of worship?
What if some of the things we thought we understood about the Bible actually weren't true?
What if it was saying something very different than what we thought it was saying?
This week, we're going to look at 10 words that will forever change the way you read and understand scripture.
Thanks for watching!

Quick correction: in 1 Corinthians 13 where Paul is saying “Love is patient, love is kind,” etc. the Greek word is actually Agapē. So he’s literally describing God Himself. Because 1 John 4:16 says that God IS actually Agapē. So what you said about it sort of still applies: this passage is not necessarily the best for weddings, as it is not talking about the love between a husband and a wife, but rather the characteristics of God Himself. This love is impossible for humans to demonstrate apart from the Spirit of God doing it through them. The only way for a husband and wife to be able to show this kind of love to each other is if they have God Himself in them and working through them.

I have to say, it's not what we give Him, it's what He gave us! He gave everything for us! All we have to do is to believe it! 1 Corinthians 15:1-4! That's all for Salvation and eternal life! God says he hates repetition, cry for help in your time of need pray at all times, times of trouble? I struggled with religion all my days growing up I quit Sunday school at 8 years old, because my older brother did. I was cursing God for all the bad times before I quit and after, but I went to bible studies off an on when my other older brother asked me to go with him to find Jesus so I went. Then I went to a Baptist church for services with him as a teenager, and at 17 I flipped a car on top of me I was pinned underneath, and 3 days before it happened I had a dream I was trapped under a car I told my best friend an we didn't really think nothing of it. So when I woke up underneath the car that had to rusted out bolts holding the bench seat down my door was smashed open n squashed to the fender,and I was trapped under the passenger door just my legs, and the door handle broke my thigh bone and I had a chunk of flesh taken off of my right foot just below the ankle the car was sideways on top of me I remembered in my dream me pounding on the windshield hollered are you guys okay in there, because I had 3 people in the backseat one in the front with me. They rolled the window down and climbed out. Well after they were out they tried rocking the car because they couldn't pull me out and the car was across the whole dirt road just past a curve and people drive fast so I was afraid someone would come flying around the corner so they rock it while one kid pulled on me but I was hung up under the car somewhere. So I said turn off the car and get the jack out, and so they tried jacking it up buy the roof with the window open,but the Jack slipped and it rolled right on top of the rest of my upper body and my chest was starting to feel like it was going to break because we were all holding it there and I said out loud oh God I don't want to die an the car just moved upwards, and they were able to pull me out from underneath. The smallest friend there lived a half mile or so away he ran home and called the police, and I fell asleep after talking with the police officer for a few minutes woke up at the hospital after awhile, and my parents were there !

My mother was one and then just stopped going. So, all my life I had those false beliefs in my head! It's just evil, false teachings! I didn't even know about the Holy Spirit or why Jesus died on a "stake" not the Cross! When I was 50, out of nowhere, Our Father Saved me!! One second I was lost, then the next, I just knew!!! I had stated that I wish I had a large print Bible, then one of those TV prosperity gospel teachers(I know now, lol) said, send x amount of money and I will send you a large print Bible!!! I started laughing and said, okay God! The Holy Spirit came all over me and in me and, Bam!!! I was Saved and sealed!! I just believed that Jesus Saved me and I was! That was in 2016! I Just love Him so!!!! I don't believe in religion, I believe in God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit! The Godhead three in one!! It is so hard to find real Bible teaching that discerns and believes in dispensations! That preaches Jesus and the blood, ya know? This is just me, but I have always looked at praise as what we do when we come together as a church. We sing, read the word, thank God for his blessings etc. Worship is what we do in our life style that brings glory to God. We treat each other right, we forgive, we are kind, etc. This is worship. That’s my two cents.

This is sooo deep yet so simple when looked at from the spiritual root and accepted with spiritual eyes. I would love to learn more Hebrew words. I took very good notes of these words you shared in this video and will renew my mind . My spirit is in agreement, my mind needs renewal to override what the modern day American church has botched up ( in my experience) to implify the depths of the heart heart with Christ written word. This was refreshing to my inner being. Clarification of Gods spirit one with me . I've been working for a couple years now to toss out what religion has taught me and seeking spirit and truth with out preconception from past teaching. The root of these words sing a sweet melody to my soul. Thanks Brandon I urn for the depth to know my Lord ❤️ my savior from the depths of my inner being!

I walked the same path as you, as an ex Muslim. The faith to put away those preconceptions was why I was rewarded with the Holy Spirit teaching while reading. Tho my spirit always knew my mind was filled with pre judgment of religion or what seems acceptable and adapted in my mind of what is right. Not easy to take that step of bringing foundations down but the lord rewards in multiples and magnitudes because of the faith.

Such a teacher may well be good at teaching anything and make it sound well proven fact when it certainly is not. Having high moral standards and being very religious are not the same things. I think it’s because the first two times Jesus asked Peter if he loved him, he used the word agapeo, but the third time he used the word phileo, which was a friendship form of love… It’s interesting though, Peter responded with phileo all three times and never agapeo… so… not sure what that was about. It almost looks like, “Do you love me unconditionally?” “Lord, I love you… as a friend!” 🤪

Jesus Christ is the Greek, Yeshua Hamasheach is the anglicized Hebrew (Biblical Hebrew has no vowel letters.) Jesus spoke Aramaic, Hebrew, and Greek. Dr. Luke wrote the book of Acts in koine (common) Greek. Greek was written and read from left to right, whereas Hebrew was written and read from right to left.

I believe My Heavenly Father is far more gracious than your portrayal of whether or not the name is correct. His Son died , was buried and rose from the dead only to lose the majority of believers that believe He did it all for them because they didn't get His name correct due to a change??? What a Joke!! He's not willing that any should perish, but just get the wrong name and look out... Sorry but my Savior paid dearly for me regardless of whether or not I use the Greek name or Hebrew name.. I'll never forget when I was 12 years old after a bible lesson, on the way home from church that night I asked my mom what was meant by Adam "knowing" Eve. That led to my first sex talk. That later led to me studying the bible completely differently, for the first time understanding that what SEEMS plain at first glance when reading the bible on its surface actually often means something completely different. This is why now when I discuss the bible with others I go right to the meaning of the WORDS before I talk about interpretation. But even that is fraught with difficulty, because depending on your audience's level of education and MOST importantly their desire to REALLY understand (rather than just wanting to argue) will determine whether you can have a rational discussion. It all boils down to whether God's Spirit is working in their minds to effect a change. Nothing you say can make a difference to someone who isn't being worked with by the Holy Spirit.

You’re right about the Holy Spirit. Unfortunately many try to understand through their own knowledge leaving out humbleness and complete surrender of themselves to God so that he may work in them and teach them. It’s surprising to realize how many church leaders preach about God and yet don’t know him and now I get why Jesus will say to some I don’t know you. (Pharisees) these people go to schools to learn theology to have a better understanding of God through other theologians instead of going directly to the source.

This is an interesting subject because there was never a person in Israel, especially 2000 yrs ago named Jesus. Our Messiah never answered to that name, plain and simple, this is what this guy is talking about. So if Jesus Christ is a transliterated name from the original Hebrew and Latin, than what is His Holy name? How can you claim to know someone who you don't even know their name. Imagine I tell you that you will be remembered long after you're gone for your many wonderful acts but there's a small wrinkle, you're name in the future is Ted, not Gary, how would you feel then? This is something to ponder because we are supposed to love truth over tradition and referring to our Messiah as Jesus is a hellenistic Greek thing to do with which I have no use.
@charging7
@charging7 2 жыл бұрын
@Kevin Belgrove saying there is no power in that name is probably false. I agree with you that 99.9% of 'believers' will not understand your argument because I'm with you, there was never a person that answered to the greek-latin name of Jesus 2000 yrs ago. Be careful what you say though because Yah can use the most deplorable of people and things to garner glory and honor. It saddens me to see so, so many 'believers' that have no idea how their beliefs are really catholic, roman, pagan, latinized as well as hellenized in nature. We think the reformation fixed everything but the reality is that the reformed church-the one many Christians now find themselves-are actually very catholic and pagan. It has helped me immensely to see this by studying the scriptures through the lens of what our Messiah was: Jewish. Better to learn Hebrew and study with a Hebraic lens than to idly go on with the traditions of men. 1 example: Yah never instructed is to forget the Sabbath, actually quite the opposite, in the 4th Commandment we're told to expressly NOT FORGET IT...99.9% Christians fail this simple test. I could go on and on..

What you say is correct as far as it goes. In the Jewish calendar the sabbath is the seventh day. This is the day in the Mosaic law to worship the Lord and to abstain from secular work. Admitting Christianity is deeply related to Judaism, Christianity is NOT Judaism. Christians - those who have a relationship with God through Jesus' sacrifice and nothing else, are NOT under the Mosaic law. Which means we do not have to sacrifice an ox every week or month, either. Nor are we obliged to observe "Sabbath" as dictated in the Mosaic law. Jesus the Christ rose from death - under His own power - on the first day of the week. Christians early started celebrating Sunday - the first day of the week, the Lord's Day, the day Jesus rose from death - as the Christian day of worship. After some seventy years of attending church on Sunday, the Lord has not disciplined me or revealed my sin in the matter. He sure has when I've stepped over the line in other matters, including tithing. He and I seem to be at peace about it.

Sunday is the 1st day of the week. All the other insights you gave I loved. The law of God does not change because of the supposed authority of man. He made the Sabbath for you, it's a blessing. Human law is after the enemy's pattern. Laws made that must be imposed. He instituted the Sabbath in the first creation week. Long before the Israelites. He gave us the Sabbath and marriage. It's a line of study that you can anticipate greater insights into agape.

Yes there is a huge mistake here but it not which Greek word is being translated here as Love (or Charity in the KJV) The problem is pulling chapter 13 out of the context of the letter it was in and especially Chapters 12 and 14 to use it for a Hallmark moment. If you read those chapters, you don't need to know Greek to know that Paul is not talking about romance at all. He is talking about spiritual gifts and what is the real "sign" that someone is a Christian. He is saying that the Holy Spirit expresses himself differently in different Christians and the only real constant of the expression is putting concern for other above taking care of Number 1.

Dear Greg, Thank you for bringing up the Sabbath error that western tradition brings. Sabbath is truly from Friday night to Saturday night and not Sunday. This confusion began with Constantine the Great with an edict requiring no work on Sunday and the suppression of Sabbath rest in the early fourth century (he was a worshipper of B Helios the sun God). Jesus met with his disciples on the first day of the week (probably just after Sabbath ended "Saturday night") as did many rabbis teaching disciples. So Sunday meetings became the day for study and with Western time, the meetings were held in the morning rather than Saturday night (the first day of the week: evening and morning, the first day). The Sabbath became confused with the meetings with Christ and thus Sunday became the western Christian sabbath because of the ignorance of scripture and demonic deception. But remember what Paul the Apostle to the gentiles wrote in 1Cornit

Although there are Aramaic phrases used by Jesus, it is pretty well accepted that the New Testament was written in Koine Greek. My issue with mistranslations comes not from a debate about the language but about the deliberate additions and subtractions to the New Testament by Westcott and Hort.

@Kevin Belgrove Whether you call Him Yahushua or Jesus Christ, He is who He is. I am far more concerned with the total mistranslations, additions, and subtractions in the New Testament which alter its meaning.

I'm studying the bible for the first time in my life in middle age, and _this_ is what I need. Not evangelical preachers bellowing about who is going to burn. Thank you! This is fascinating stuff!

I was blessed by coming to the word at 50 years old, thank YAH/GOD I did not have a church background, there's so much more to the word than jumping in to the end of the book and end up with an empty faith based religion. Only YAH can open the ruach to let his true word in your heart.

How do you pronounce Yahuah. I heard in the Hebrew language you don’t pronounce the h so it sounds more like Yah is this correct? And Yahusha sounds like Joshua that’s why I’m Hebrews he says Joshua instead of Jesus.

Get yourself A Strongs Concordance With Hebrew and Greek dictionary. Then you can pick a verse apart and see what each word meant in its original language. Our Old Testament hasn't been messed with much at all. Copies of books from the caves of Kumran are identical to what we have today. The New Testament has been tinkered with starting back in the 1880s and forward. The Cepher is based on Kumran texts and is very good. I still like the Old king James myself even though I know that the translators bad some Personal biases. It is still very good.
