Your story about Antshares hit home. I had a very similar incident, where I mined Darkcoin for ages on my PC. Had about 3000 Darkcoins, worth less than a few pence at the time. Lost interest after a while as it was so little money. Few years later, the harddrive packed up, and I had forgotten about the Darkcoin wallet/private key. I went to a workshop, and crushed the harddrive into a small metal cube for funsies. Roll forward to December 2017, where Dash was over $1,000 each. I didnt know at the time that Darkcoin had rebranded as Dash. Long story short, I had 3,000 Dash, worth over $1,000 each at the peak in 2017. Over $3M USD. In reality, I accept I would have never had that money anyway, as if I had remembered at any point, I would have sold them a long time ago. Still, I die a little inside each time I think of this.

1. Make a plan. Trade/HODL. 2. Choose the right and SAFE exchange. Learn how to use it. 3. Do your own research(not just main youtubers/influencers) 4. (If you are a trader) Don't risk so much. 5. (If you are a HODLer) Consider storing your crypto on hardware wallet instead of exchange sites. 6. Back up your secret phrase on piece of paper and keep it somewhere safe. 7. Make sure you are sending the RIGHT crypto to the RIGHT adress. Make a small test transaction first to see it working. 8. Taxes :/ 9. Don't flex with your crypto, it might be dangerous. 10. Don't fall for a scam.
