Picking Jarrod Brander was the start of a list of balls ups for West Coast. 1. Drafting him in the first place when Tim Kelly was available. 2. Refusing to include Brander in a trade to Geelong for Tim Kelly, then subsequently selling the farm instead. 3. Delisting Brander anyway 2 years later. What a circus.

@@ma3stro681 Sydney didn't draft him, numbnuts. St Kilda drafted him with pick 1 over Petracca who was clearly the best player in the draft, and St Kilda got nothing out of him. This isn't a debate, McCartin is comfortably the worst draft pick in the last 10 years.

Think Matt Scharenberg shouldn’t be on this list. When healthy he was decent, he was elite in 2018 before that ACL. His body just couldn’t handle it. Jono O’Rourke is someone who comes to mind for me. Pick 2, 20ish games for 2 clubs.

Pretty harsh video as hindsight is a beautiful thing. These players were drafted before those “better” players because they performed better than them in the junior competition and played the style and position that team was looking for at the time.

Will Walker was a horrible pick or North in 2017. Kid had barely played AFL after coming from a soccer background and kept getting serious injuries. Taken at pick 23, North could have had Balta, T Kelly, L Ryan, Daniels, S Taylor, Fritsch (who had North ties) or TDK. What a joke.

McGovern was not in the 2013 draft. Also it is irrelevant listing a player taken 50+ when talking about top 10 picks. No club in the league would have drafted mature age Tom Stewart over Jordan Gallucci for example.

Scharenberg is too harsh. Blaming blokes for injuries is not right. Its the blokes that get drafted top five, spend three or four years on a list and play only few or no games. Or blokes that bring criminal behaviour. Not injured ones.
