I understand that people would say that the game was boring because it wasn't close. But as a neutral supporter, I was impressed by the way Brisbane played, they were awesome, a great example of how the game should be played, it was a clinic and they were the surgeons, simply an outstanding game of footy.

Some much needed context for the crowd singing in the last quarter! When the crowd was singing along to all those songs “Hey Baby”, and “Country Roads”, these songs are the goal songs of Zac Bailey and Charlie Cameron, Brisbane Lions players. These songs play out around the stadium at Brisbane Lions home games when those players kick a goal. It may have seemed like the crowd was singing these songs out of boredom, but it was really just us Lions fans partying with those songs that obviously have meaning to the fan base.

Ohhhh hahah I mean I would have understood the Country roads song but the Hey Baby I thought was left of field 😅
@rossbatten291213 күн бұрын
@@alexandratuohey It was meant to be for the crowd to sing "Hey Bailey" but not sure how many people are aware of that intent when they originally chose that song for him.

The Lions were the best performing team , in the second half of the regular season . The Swans started their season good early , then cracked under the pressure. As the saying goes they choked big time . I said at the start of the season , that the Lions needed to win at the MCG , for them to have a chance of winning the Premiership. I have been a Lions fan since i was 5 years old , now i am 60 and this win , was the sweetest win i have ever seen . Better than when we beat Collingwood 2 times in a row in the Grand final

Even as an adopted Brisbanite (Novocastrian by birth), I have to agree, a close game is more fun than a runaway victory. Next year, if you’re interested and can, I’d recommend checking out the NRL State of Origin. A completely different style of Footy, one big thing is the players are the best, chosen from all the teams in their league to compete for their state. It’s basically one big grudge match, and it can definitely be more entertaining than the Grand Final, especially if you’re team isn’t playing.

I liked Katy’s show, but it was better last year with KISS because they were more confident. No cover songs, no guest stars, and no digital effects! Interestingly though, both of these teams started out as Melbourne teams. They were originally the Fitzroy Lions and South Melbourne Swans

You were unlucky with the match. Last year was very close, and Collingwood only won by 4 points in what was one of the greatest grand finals I’ve ever seen. I think that a big part of playing in such a big game is how prepared each team is mentally. Sydney is a far better team that what they produced on the day, and I think that was a massive choke.

I'm hoping for nail-biters in both codes next year - the NRL was more competitive than the Lions demolition of the Swans, but still not the 'golden point' game that many of us pray for. When someone kicks a goal or field goal to win the game with seconds on the clock - THAT is what footy is all about.
