As someone whose friends, family, and loved ones are steeped in the NAACP generations deep, this is so contrary to the spirit of the the awards ceremony and why we gather together in the first place- the ADVANCEMENT of our people. We have enough entities out there in the world determined to CHOP us down. It would be nice for us to have our night of safe space to reinforce and celebrate one another's substance without being beholden to vapid negativity.

I agree with you on every one. However, what i didn't like about Taraji's outfit was her whole bra showing in the back. That is a definite no-no for someone on her level. She might have been able to play it off if it was the same color as the dress, but that was very tacky and classless.

@thesuccesscarter I see your point. However, I take a different approach. I consider each event individually and I take into account the nature and scope and purpose of the event. Whereas a bold and daring attire might very well work fabulously at the Met gala or BET AWARDS, a more subtle and sophisticated attire is usually required for the NAACP IMAGE AWARDS, GOLDEN GLOBES AND ACADEMY AWARD SHOWS. All in all I think both of our minds’ eyes appreciate good fashion and are valid in our opinions. 💜

I respectfully disagree with you on ALL of your choices except Major. He looked like he was going to a ghetto fabulous funeral. Otherwise, the looks were amazing and stunning, especially for the NAACP IMAGE AWARDS. It seems to me you put a White lens on a Black aesthetic and your judgment is biased and skewed towards alabaster and not onyx.

While they might have looked alright, I’m putting this up against they’re track record for other award ceremonies. Taraji has been in more glamourous looks and even Danielle has been pushing the envelope in terms of fashion and presentation. So when u take all these into consideration, these look don’t measure to their own unique standard and or potential ( that’s my angle)
