The worse thing to happens to Spider Man was putting Joe Quesada ( the mastermind behind the Sins Past Gwen and Normal relationship and the terrible One More Day) in charge of Marvel Comics.

If a woman being physically unable to have her neck broken due to a sudden stop is the only thing you're gonna nitpick and call "scientifically not possible" out of a series consisting of the adventures of a man who can stick to walls and shoot webs, then you are very selective in your application of scientific principles.
