Some of these wrestlers like Stone Cold Steve Austin just didn't have the characters ( Stone Cold gimick ) that they later had in WWE. That wasn't too much of WCW's fault. Even Eric Bishoff said what I just said in his book "Controversy Creates Cash". Eric Bishoff said in that book he didn't know he was going to have that Stone Cold gimick in WWE and be huge as heck! Some wrestlers like Bret Hart were totally and utterly flat out wasted by WCW though. Bret Hart got seriously injured by Goldberg and wasn't there to warn Owen against his dangerous stunt. WCW very poorly used him. He should have just stayed in WWE and away from Bumbling Bill and WCW in general.

Looking at the talent WCW acquired each were used terribly. The Hart Foundation could’ve made the jump to WCW together and have a Hart Foundation and NWO feud having some good classic segments and matches especially at War Games.Chris Jericho is an individual who would’ve debuted in the Cruiserweight division as a face and when going for the Cruiserweight Title he would beat Rey Mysterio Jr for the Cruiserweight Title after delivering a low blow to Rey and delivering a BreakDown.Jericho would then take the Cruiserweight Title and hit Rey in the head with the title and then remove his mask.Jericho would drop his LionHeart gimmick and the name calling himself Chris Jericho.Chris Jericho would hold the title for 6 months until dropping the title to Dean Malenko in a submission match.Jericho would then go to the mid card division and have some classics with Owen Hart and Bret Hart and also capture the mid card titles being the WCW United States Title and World Television Title.Jericho would leave and join WWF and be inserted in the Light Heavyweight division and capture the title in his first month on the brand. He would hold the title for 6 months and also capture the IC Title as well.Jericho would turn face for most of 2000 and be still in the mid card division.Jericho in 2001 would turn heel again and would beat both The Rock and Stone Cold on an episode of Monday Night RAW winning the WWE Undisputed Title in a complete shocker.Jericho would have some classics with Chris Benoit,The Rock,Stone Cold Steve Austin,The Undertaker,Kurt Angle, and Kane. Before finally dropping the title to Triple H allowing HHH to become Undisputed Champion and gain his revenge.Jericho would have a rematch at Judgement Day where the match would be built up from Jericho attacking Stephanie McMahon and locking her in the Walls Of Jericho.Jericho would later form the UnAmericans in 2002 and would feud with Hulk Hogan and Kurt Angle for awhile.Jericho would get another main event spot where he would feud with Shawn Michaels and have some underrated classics with Booker T and RVD over the the reinstated United States Title on RAW.

Time for some number crunching, as Dave looks at both WWF and WCW and compares TV ratings and house show attendance numbers for the last 5 years in great detail. There's a lot of numbers and stuff here but I'll try to sum it up easily. When it comes to WCW, they're obviously in the midst of their hottest run ever. But there's a misconception that WCW winning the cable ratings war is some new thing, when in reality, WCW has pretty much always beaten WWF in cable ratings, with the Saturday Night show beating early Raw and Prime Time ratings all the time, but they weren't in prime time. And no one really paid attention until the companies began going head-to-head on Monday nights. The truth is, yes, WCW is winning the war but the alleged "decline of WWF" is overrated. 1996 was WWF's strongest house show year since 1991, even though their TV ratings have hit new lows. But overall, WWF is still doing strong business everywhere else and TV ratings haven't shown to have that much effect on ticket sales. In fact, WWF's house show business grew at a faster rate than WCW's did last year and with increased ticket prices, their house show business became even more profitable. There's a perception from people who believe the Monday night ratings are the entire business and believe WWF is in trouble because they're losing the ratings war, but overall, they're still pretty strong (I find stuff like this interesting, because the revisionist version of history is that WCW damn near put WWF out of business until Vince heroically fought back and conquered his enemy. Reality is, they were never even remotely in danger of it and aside from TV ratings, they were doing their best business in years on every other front. Sure, they were a distant second in TV ratings but in all other aspects of the business, WCW was only barely winning).
