I'm surprised Hogan didn't make up some excuse about how, if you account for time zones differences due to how he travelled between japan and the USA 400 days a year, he actually came up with the gimmick first and also, he met Billy Graham just before he died and Graham said he considered him a son, a father and a brother and viewed him as the worthy successor to the gimmick.
@paulrogers48522 ай бұрын
Considering that Billy Graham was only 8 years older than Hogan and only started wrestling when Hulk was 19, I doubt the validity of Terry telling his dad that he wanted to be like Graham. Hogan has said the same thing about Dusty Rhodes. Meanwhile, Dusty didn't wrestle anywhere near where Hogan would have seen him wrestle until Hogan was 16 or 17.

There has been many wrestler copies DX was a copy of nWo Ric Flair got his gimmick from Buddy Rogers Hulk Hogan got his gimmick from both Jesse Ventura and Billy Graham Demolition got their gimmick from the Road Warriors Carlito got his gimmick from Razor Ramon LayCool (Layla and Michelle McCool) got their gimmick from The Beautiful People (Angelina Love and Velvet Sky) Ryback got his gimmick from Goldberg Mason Ryan from Batista (didn’t help that Mason Ryan looked exactly like Batista as well) Brodus Clay got his gimmick from Flash Funk and his music from Ernest Miller Bobby Lashley from Brock Lesnar (even same initials) Robert Roode got his gimmick from Rick Rude Dolph Ziggler got his gimmick from Mr Perfect and style from Shawn Michaels FTR/Revival got their gimmick and style from Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard LA Knight got his gimmick from The Rock and Steve Austin Jay Lethal cosplayed as Randy Savage for a bit and tbh it was a nice tribute Shark Boy did a Steve Austin parody which was fucking hilarious Chad Gable and Jason Jordon from Charlie Haas and Shelton Benjamin Chad Gable wants to be Kurt Angle but is more like Charlie Haas And the Triple H and Shane Douglas thing is complicated but tbf Triple H during his McMahon Helmsley Faction Era circa 1999 to 2001 does seem quite close to ECW Shane Douglas.

My Ripoff Wrestling Gimmick Would Be Someone like The Nostalgia Critic Doug Walker I'm more of a Andre Meadows Black Nerd Comedy guy myself I'd love to see the heat I'll get with my Critiques of popular movies and rile up those TNA crowds like It's my Buisness

I’d be a mash up between Ric Flair, Demolition and Billy and Chuck.

I don't know if there's a term for this but certain wrestlers sanctify an entire gimmick or demeanor as a homage to one specific wrestler or that wrestler's entire genesis and regimen as a form of devotion to the business In many cases it isn't ripping off but rather its sanctifying.

Hogan was also recently stealing Stone Cold's "what" chants. Harder to explain that one beyond Stone Cold being a bigger star.

The Rock stole his gimmick from Scott Hall’s Razor Ramon’s & stole many of his catchphrases so 🤷🏻♂️

This video should show you that wrestlers steal from each other a hell of a lot more than you think. There are even more out there, you could make several videos.

Most of these weren't stolen but bestowed. Vince or Bischoff usually gave these gimmicks.

Rhea & Dom is hardly a rehash of Eddie & Chyna. Rhea was literally a dominatrix to Dom being a doormat man; while Chyna was a lovestruck girlfriend with Eddie constantly mistreating her.
