This could be my ideal ukulele video. The music I play most is blues on a long neck soprano. I own and love the Millar long neck you featured here - it’s my performance uke. I also own a larger Rebel double crème (super concert) which is superb. And Phil Doleman gives me music lessons - his signature soprano is a steady temptation. I didn’t think I needed another longneck soprano, but a Ko’Aloha, or that half and half long neck Ana’Ole pineapple…dream instruments. Well, it’s my birthday next week so if anyone reading this wants to buy me a present…

Alex, you are feeding my obsession! There seems to be plenty of enthusiasm for sopranos in this crowd -- look how fast the Carabaos flew off the shelf. Phil, thanks for the blues in 'A' masterclass. I'll be working on that...

Man, I like the Fireball soprano a lot. I love that headstock, and Flight generally has some great looking mango. I especially like that it has a pin bridge. That said, they always seem ever so slightly restrained. Wonderful tone, but restrained. It's weird. Wish they had all acoustic options. For a bit more you can buy a Rebel, and those things project!

Ooooph! That KoAloha at the end.................. lush! Great playing too.

Great video .Sopranos are so overlooked and shouldn't be ,they are in ways easier to play with the short scale length and less tension . I can do chords and note stretches I have trouble reaching on my tenor that I can easily do on my Soprano. I recently bought my 1st. soprano a used LoPrinza all mahogany, USA made, it is a sweet uke... Oh and thanks for the new riff..

Thanks for a great review ❤ I have three sizes of ukes, but in my heart there are sopranos, and small guitars 😅 Among these...The Millar Phil Doleman signature is stunning 😍

Really enjoyable and interesting Alex. I love sopranos as you know - they all sound fabulous particularly with Phil's bluesy playing buy I'm a great fan of Rebels and that last KoAloha pineapple - wow! Do hope your wrist mends soon. Best wishes.

Can't understand why the soprano ukulele is going off the boil, to me they are brilliant! Sound great, easy to carry around and almost anyone can play at least something with just a little help. What's not to like??!!

The Phil Doleman with the long neck of the 210LL would be my ideal uke.

Thanks Alex and great playing Phil, just got in from a difficult day at work and this has been a great distraction. Great demo of soprano. Like both the Rebel and Flight for their use of the mango. Like both the Millers and feel they all sound great for the blues. Have a great week.

I fancy the Flight Fireball Soprano. The Millar Long neck looks and sounds nice, too. Sadly one can only play one ukulele at a time. Any ideas on how to hold back UAS?

Hmm, need to support this little master. Would you mind getting a Phil Doleman ready for delivery? When I travel I always pack my soprano happiness maker. And that playing was on point.

Nice that you have four (31/2?) hands to properly show off and play these great instruments! Always drawn to sopranos. Have three and can’t part with them. One is a long neck which clearly affects the sound as you say. They are all nice sounding. Perhaps the Dolman for me. But it’s a really tough call. Is it the sound or neck length of a standard soprano that is affecting their popularity?

On a long neck soprano do you generally use concert or soprano strings?
@SouthernUkuleleStore2 жыл бұрын
Most soprano/concert strings are identical gauges. You would buy concert though just to ensure the string is long enough

Great video… Great sounding ukes! It’s dark, dreary,pouring rain and damp here today, so the blues was a good choice!😂 but even though these are the originals, after seeing so many people play tenors these days,these sound great but they look silly because they seem so small in comparison.

It's such a great idea to put all instruments behind you Alex, it makes it way easier to remember/compare them. I like the sound of Rebel, and the last pineapple. Also Ana'Ole ASLHP got nice rural-barn-like sound- I think Tom Sawyer would love to have one of those on his raft. To say something about the look of those beauties would be very difficult so let me remain silent, as some of them could feel jealous for each other... I bought Ortega ABS/maple soprano recently and I'm so happy with it- sounds like electric brain massager. I know it's totally different league (or universe) but I love it and the way it resonate in my hands. Maybe you could make a video about strings (and how to replace them properly?)? It would be very helpful to see different types of strings in the same uke. I know it would be a lot of effort to do so, never feel any obligation then- I'm going to watch your videos anyway 😉 (Another) awesome video Gentlemans 👏👏👏👍👍👍💣💣💣
