I love my Griptilian. I hate the standard plastic handle BM puts on them so I had mine custom made with better material (which I can't remember what it is now), but the blade is S30V. I'm disabled (left arm is paralyzed) and use mine for things that usually require two hands like opening stuff like food and packages. It is, hands down, the best knife I've ever owned. Stays sharp too.

Good to see somebody actually using their knives long term giving a review instead of rattling off specs while it sits on a table brand new. For a guy who isn't a "Collector" and doesn't have a dozen knives to run through if one breaks, long term durability is essential.

100% agree, it took me probably 6-7 years to actually buy that Rat model 2 in the video because I could never justify spending $$ on another knife when the Benchmade was holding up so well, I eventually caved obviously, but my Benchmade is definitely still the EDC of choice 70-80% of the time. Glad you liked the video!

@@justfreythings3109 I feel the same way about my 4 year old CS Recon 1. It's just so damn reliable it's hard to justify buy anything else. If it ever breaks I'll probably just buy another one, It's just that good.

Im in a similar boat. Im not rich enough to be a mindless consumer and have 10 150$ knives. I ordered a griptillian after much research. I use my knife ALOT, hunting and fishing and processing meat. I use a cheap Gerber, but wanted something i didnt have to sharpen after something as skinning a grouse. Hopefully the Griptillian and S30V steel lives up to the hype.

Excellent choice for a first knife! I've been carrying griptilians for about 20 years, and still have my first one and use it. I'd suggest sending yours back to benchmade, I just sent one of my mini grips back. It will feel and look like a brand new knife again. Your one screw missing is a important screw, it holds the steel liner in place. Or at least contact benchmade and see if they will send you the screw. I carry my mini grips most, much thinner than the full size and less weight, may want to check one out next time you need a knife.

I carry a mini griptilian for work and it’s absolutely perfect for that role. It takes a beating and just keeps on going along. I have many other knives but I keep gravitating back to the mini grip for work

Is the mini grip hard to sharpen? I have the s30v and cannot get it sharp. Is the edge too thick to get sharp? Is it worth 50$ in good condition?

Yeah that missing screw on the side actually holds the liner in place underneath the plastic scales. A fairly large portion of Benchmade knives use a partial liner system underneath the scales. The steel liner adds strength to the knife in the places where added strength is really needed. The partial liner does a good job maximizing strength vs weight. Some knives will utilize a full liner and it's been my experience that it's often unnecessary. Benchmade does a good job adding strength where it's really needed and leaving out added strength where it's not needed, saving weight and unnecessary materials. I've been carrying a Griptillian for five years and it's the best do it all edc knife I have ever had.

The Griptillian has been somewhat superseded by the Bugout in popularity -- only one model is still available. I just bought a used (and abused) Griptillian with the blade hole opening and partial serration. It was in a pile of junk knives, so it only cost $1. The tip was broken, the blade is loose side-to-side, the pocket clip is loose, the screw heads are stripped. You should look at the Hogue Doug Ritter RSK Mk1-G2. It is a variant of the Griptillian that was previous produced by Benchmade, but they no longer wanted to produce it. Cold Steel produces some great hard use knives, such as Ultimate Hunter, American Lawman, and Recon 1.
