Having never seen/heard Ms Polley as a child til now, I must say this is exactly how I imagined she'd be: Smart composed witty and Sweet. Luv all her films. She is fathoms deep and it is what makes her Unique 💕💕💕

It’s amazing how her personality in essence hasn’t changed that much. Shows that she’s a pretty authentic person.

She wrote an article in the guardian recently on how much trauma filming the Baron Munchausen film was to her and how Terry Gilliam wouldn't take responsibility.

This is adorable! We used to watch and play make believe Road to Avonlea when I was a kid. My mom says I looked like her as a kid. Such a well-spoken 10yr old!

I used to watch the Avon Lea show when I was 10. It was a great series. Sarah Polley was my favorite actress from the series. Mature kid

This is great thanks for posting this! Amazed at how mature Sarah is as a 10 year old. She has certainly come a long way since then. From starring in movies in television, to creating her own movies and tv series. The CBC Archives are amazing, and an excellent source of television and media history. Please keep them coming!

Amazing. She never wanted to become a Hollywood Star and moved on to directing and many other things. Even back then she knew what she wasn't. Kids can learn from her!

She was not desperate to be acting later (on the contrary), nor was she desperate for fame. Which gave her the freedom to go to a Harvey Weinstein "business date" with her agent in tow (I think both knew about his reputation, her agent insisted on not letting her go alone). He made her an "offer" - since there was a witness it was a bit more indirect than usual. She declined. By then she already knew she wanted to direct films. Although she is a talented actress.

She has created the career she wanted, which is better than being famous I feel. She turned down major Hollywood roles, including the role in Almost Famous that went to Kate Hudson. I admire the fact that she has carved her own path for herself.

Guess she changed her mind about acting. But I think we can forgive her considering what she went through right before this in Adventures of Baron von Munchausen. Frankly surprised she didnt quit right then and there.
