I’ve smoked the Royal Release Robusto by Davidoff for $100 and it was a delicious and enjoyable smoke. It was nice to experience it for once but not in my regular rotation. I’m with everyone on this. I’d prefer 5 cigars at $20 a pop instead. But it’s nice to try other cigars all for the experience. That’s what it’s all about.

I love so many cigars that are between $5-$20, most expensive I had was $80 I think and it wasn't that much better than my usual Oliva or any of the other brands I usually get

The cap is about $20 for me and that’s if I want to treat myself. I absolutely love the La Aurora Gold or Sapphires for $21 more than any cheaper cigar but it’s not sustainable. Anything more has either been similarly good or worse

The sweet spot between affordability and quality seems to be in the $22-30 range. Stuff like the Melanio or the Edge A-10 Up a bit more into the $37-42 range and you have the starters for Davidoff and Padron $10 a stick is your 1990, or a Serie O Robusto Honestly the $12-20 range seems good, your New World's, Liga Privada's, and CAO Flathead's

I absolutely disagree. For example, Sanjay Patel SP1014 (red, black or industry killer) and would kill both your ranges-all under $8. Padron’s are $20 over priced across their whole catalog. They are good for consistency and that it. They are too hyped with what’s out there. To each their own. And it’s your money.

Some of the best cigars I have smoked were well under 10 dollars, a few were right around 10, only Liga 9 and Davidoff Maduro were exceptional at around 20 dollars per stick.

Depends on the $100 cigar, not all are created equal, there are some really great cigars that cost $100 that I would choose over a quantity of cigars, especially if I have a celebration or special occasion, but that’s not to say that 9 times out of 10 I would go for the 5 $20 cigars over the 1 $100 cigar. The most important thing to remember with Cigars is “Smoke what you enjoy” meaning it’s ok to feel like steak on some days and feel like hamburgers on other days.

As I’ve been reviewing more and more cigars I’ve found that the 2 BEST cigars I’ve smoked so far was the $32 Alma Fuerte salmon and even better (in my opinion) torpedo ASHTON VSG $25 mins blowing smokes. $12-$18 I’m doing curly head maduros, Brazilian Herrera esteli, LAST BARBARIAN, and probably a 1990 rocky Patel. Also, cavalier is SO GOOD 😅😊

They're so tied to the "rich" look now. Lots of millionaires walking into a humidor and buying a $20,000 box on social media now, so people don't get it. $100 cigars CAN BE and often are better than a $10 or $20 stick, but that doesn't mean they're worth it.

I can't help thinking that, unless you are a professional in the cigar industry, most people don't have a discerning enough palate to appreciate the subtle nuances of that $100 cigar...assuming the extra money is actually based on subtle nuance, rather than packaging or "limited addition" marketing. I agree with your assessment 100%. For that matter, membership in an online cigar marketplace can get you 20 $10 smokes for $5 apiece...maximizing quantity _and_ quality at a level the everyday (or even special occasion) smoker can appreciate.

There’s a lot of crossover between cigar aficionados and whiskey enthusiasts. I find the markets to be completely different. There’s a lot more correlation in whiskey between price point and quality. Cigars I feel are a lot more find what you like at what you can afford. Maybe it has to do with the handmaking process of cigars. An error on the part of the roller could ruin a cigar no matter the quality of the tobacco.

In my opinion as long as the cigars are made in Nicaragua, Honduras, Dominican Republic they are going to be the best cigars you can buy whether they are $5 or $100. Makes no sense to spend any more than $20 or so.

Here in Canada one of those 20.00 sticks is around 40 to 50.00, sometimes more depending on where you are. So ya a 20.00 cigar is about my limit. But i enjoy cheaper Fuentes and Partagas anyways😊

I think after 15 bucks your return of quality is diminished. Best 3 cigars i have ever had was a Gurkha Castle Hall, RP Edge Corojo, and CAO 770 Flathead. Each well under 15 bucks. I think the RP was 11 or 12 and the Gurkha was 5 or 6 bucks

There’s definitely a middle ground in this scenario. I’m not addicted to nicotine, so I will always choose quality over quantity. When I smoke, I’m looking for an experience. I’d take 3 or 4 high quality smokes over 10 super common, mass produced smokes that offer a subpar experience. At the same time, I would rather not spend the full $100 on a single stick. I’d rather stay in that mid range where I’m getting 3 or 4 high quality smokes. ie. A few Opus or a few Cubans rather than a bunch of super common smokes.

I’ll smoke a $100 smokes 3-4 times a year. It has to be special-limited releases, aged, hard to get. However, 99.5% that makes this hobby fun is hunting the cigars that are the best for the best price point. Then those have categories, best cigars for $5, $10, $15. I rarely smoke higher price point then that.

There's always going to be folks who sincerely believe the single, 100$ stick is somehow better or more enjoyable. I think they're just convincing themselves at that point. I'm with Tim, I'd rather have 5x20$ sticks or even like 8x12$ sticks than one single 100$ stick.

@@rickyricardo3551 well for say a perdomo you are looking at about £25 /32 dollars all new world cigars worth smoking start about £22 average salary is £35000. If you smoke like Tim around three cigars a day thats nearly two thirds of all your take home a day just on cigars. Take home on average salary is £100. Only rich people smoke them or people like me who have say 1 a week as a treat and budget from salary to buy them. That said you can illegally import them from the netherlands which can halve the price but dont think anyone does that. I have never met a proper cigar smoker in the uk apart from in cigar lounges in London its not a thing apart from really rich old people

Honestly once you get over about $12-$15 your paying for rarity and or a status symbol. I've had $20-$35 smokes and was not impressed at all. I'll stick to my tabernacle Havana seeds i can get them for $12 at my local B&M. I have a few in the $25-$35 range for special occasions, but would never spend $100 on 1 cigar, I dont care if I had Elon's money I still wouldn't buy 1 lol. Well maybe 1 just to try but definitely not 2, but that's with billions in the bank. I'd rather have Liga's #9, Tabernacles, and some oliva G and V maduros in a custom build humidor room,

By no means am i rich but there is absolutely no such thing as a good $5 cigar today. A newbie will think a $5 cigar is amazing because they have nothing to compare it to. Once you gain alot of experience you will drastically notice different between $5 cigars $10 cigar $18 cigars $25 cigar. Any price point past $25-$30 in most cases you are buying status and not some superior quality at $100
