Many of my junkyard hot rod buys involved beer: Agreed, sir. I'm no math expert, but I believe a 12 pack got me 3 cars last time..lol..

First of all... I thank him for his service. The old timer has some pretty cool pieces, but.... his propensity to purchase convertibles, parts cars and vehicles in general... then subsequently park them all, never to touch them again or do anything with them, protect them etc has lead to property filled with items that are worth more in his mind than in reality. It's truly sad. Many are salvageable, but... Probably not at the prices he's asking.

Sadly I have to agree. This looks like a future Van den Brink auction. Some of the cars like the early 60s Chevies and Fords will bring some money but the rest, not so much.

Appreciate the gentleman's service! Unfortunately prices seem a little too high for me. It's a shame to see so many vehicles in better shape chasing after ones in worse shape for parts cars. And to see that 348 sitting out in the open without any protection is heart wrenching 😢. Now it's just a boat anchor. Waaaay, back in 1981, my father and I were restoring a 1959 Chevy. We needed to replace the pistons on the 348. Found an old farmer/dirt track driver who had a 348 he won a major feature in Langhorne PA in 1964. It was upside down, sitting next to an old plumbing truck, under a torn up piece of canvas. The oil pan was rotted through, and it took all day with a torch and penitrating oil to get those pistons out. I couldn't imagine how bad this one is 40+ years later 😳. Unfortunately, I'm sure the auction will not be the same as purchasing it for him. They won't put together what he had in mind, and sell everything off individually. Kinda sad really. So if you wanted the original engine to a specific vehicle, you'd end up paying more (usually because you have to outbid someone) for something worh considerably less than the $$ you start with in the project 😢. Thanks for sharing Tim much appreciated 😎🇺🇲🇺🇲🇺🇲

This bring back a lot of memories. My father had a yard like this, his didn't have any big trucks, but a lot more car goodies! Dad had six or seven 58 - 60 t birds. Lots of 55-58 Ford cars. Dodges, Nashs, Buicks, Hudsons, Studebakers, Packards, and even a couple old Chevies. 115 cars total. Most of my dad's were coupes, 2 door hardtops, convertibles, and 2 door sedans. To him four doors were parts cars only!
@yeahright3027 ай бұрын
such a shame the lack of taking care of the cars,motors,etc sitting out there all these years. Sad part is,if you wanted to buy something from him as it says in the beginning of the vid,in his mind as listening to him talk about things, you will pay a good chunk of money for it still.as these old timers, think a lot of that stuff is still put gas in and go!most will be estate sale bound.
@brianmonica11047 ай бұрын
Fun to watch, especially the '61 Impala sport coupes and '64 Galaxies. Amazing he would leave a Chevy "W" engine out in the weather, whether it's a 409, 348, car engine or low compression truck engine. Just the chrome valve covers were worth putting inside a dry car. Sheesh.

Wow, Joe, harsh dig at Kansas folk at the end! That said, the belle of the ball was a odd one - that 74-75 Toyota Celica looked bone dry. Someone in this country is gonna call Mr. 100 and offer him some nice cashola for that specimen. LOTS of nice, dry bones out there - that Ford station wagon is a 302/T5 combo away from being a SWEET beach cruiser!

Hi Tim, That really was a junk yard, the owner seemed keen to talk about the vehicles but less interested in actually selling them despite being 84 and wanting to clean up the yard. I wonder if he has actually sold anything in the last 10 years ? The pathway between the vehicles seemed pretty worn. For me the most interesting vehicles were the 2 Subaru wagons and the Toyota. Keep the videos coming, cheers from Sweden.

@beatglauser94447 ай бұрын
There is so much potential with those solid old cars. It seems the dry climate did save them as potential restoring projects. The faster he lets this stuff go, the better chance those vehicles have. It is really time to sell them off as long as the owner is still around. Best is really to sell them in pairs. Once he passes they are sold off in a hurry and to much is getting crushed. At least he knows where the parts and parts cars are. He should write it down for those who might take over or sell it all. I started writing down for my family where a lot of parts are for my cars: Some in my basement, some in a barn, a lot in trunks of parked cars, running and dead.
@johncarlson30617 ай бұрын
Really amazing how this olet-immer,has plans,and visions of grandger for all these project cars.. If he had a ounce of sense..he'd sell all of them and then use the $$ to put towards just one car.. Horder!

That 61 Dart Convertible is so valuable........the Scalloped style tail light Joe was mentioning and nobody understood what he meant was the 1961 Dodge Polara, the bigger Dodge on the Longer Wheelbase had it's own rear end styling. It's my absolute favorite! Thats what was in the Garage next to the parts car but it was a Polara, not a Pheonix, and had the tail like's Joe was mentioning but you couldn't see it.

I like the unibody Ford pick up real well and the old Ford truck that was a three-quarter ton that had all the glass busted out of it but had the real good body I believe it was red and no rust to speak of about a 52?I think I saw about a 78 Toyota Corolla sitting right behind that Celica against the fence. I fooled with those little hemi Toyota corollas for years! I drove one for 17 years! Rust problems,but excellent little drive trains
@johnwade57477 ай бұрын
You could braze or tack weld a quarter inch nut inside the little round pocket on the fuel pump where the pushrod that worked it was, similar to a Volkswagen.That would get it pumping fuel again when all the components are worn and adding up to not enough push to bring up the fuel. But the float and needle valve should’ve regulated the pressure going in and it really shouldn’t have made it run faster than a healthy stock one. But it would run better than one that was starving. I think that’s what he meant

Some rare and desirable vehicles there. Dry also. Here in CO we get body rust but no heavy frame rust as it’s semi arid. I grew up in Massachusetts and new cars would rot in half in ten years with all the road salt

At .about 36:45:00, that Pontiac. Never ever saw that window style before.. I was drawn to the glass and cab more than the rest of the car. Damn, what a rare piece of artwork. Ya got the usual large side window, paired with the narrow back side one, followed by that curved corner that meets the entire back, left and right, to and fro. Wow, I like that. If she ran, it'd be poetry in motion. That's one sexy beast that deserves resurrection. The more I see it, the more I say, "Oh Baby, the things I can do for you!" 😀
