I’ve been in barefoot shoes for over a year now and they have made my feet and knees feel so much better. All the aches and pains I associated with being 58 years old are gone. It’s weird but trite. I use them for everything except when I need my steel toed boots. Yup, I drank the cool aid and it was good. Thanks Brian!

Yah.. I’m one of those people that had crazy foot pain, from over use and injuries. I tried an ungodly amount of shoes / insoles and nothing worked. It took me a year of going barefoot and doing specific exercises (no one has time for) to acclimate to them, but now I’m essentially pain free. I’m a huge proponent! Try them, but put in the work it’s not an instant miracle type thing. Appreciate you Brian! I never comment on anything but this was right in my wheelhouse.

If you’re looking for as close to a barefoot steel toe work boot you can get, try the dewalt plasma. They have a zero drop once the insole is removed and are actually decently wide if you get them in wide toe.

On the things you would change about the Bruin boot, mainly the steel toe.... Jim Green out of South Africa has some "barefoot"/zero drop options that have a lot of similarities with the Bruin. They have the Barefoot African Ranger, which is arguably more of a durable shoe -- and then the Barefoot African *Trooper*, which is a full height boot. Unfortunately neither come stock, off the shelf with a steel toe, but Jim Green has a custom boot builder that people have used to do just that. They have a zero drop steel toe last (that you can actually use to custom build any of their boots). It'd be pricier to go that route, but it's one of the few options (maybe the only one) out there that might be exactly what you want.

I've been curious about these for a while and hearing your description about your issues with regular shoes was incredibly helpful because I blow out the sides in the same exact way and I've been worried about other barefoot style shoes because the mid foot also looks too narrow. These definitely look like a huge improvement and I'm stoked to give them a shot.

never tried that brand, but generally I love barefoot style shoes. Amazon carries a Whitin brand that is a good entry level (more affordable) shoe for people wanting to try them. Xero shoes are amazing, and I've heard good things about (but haven't personally tried) Lems. Surprisingly, barefoot shoes are great for running, even ultra-marathon/super long distance running. It just takes learning how to adjust your stride and body mechanics, which ends up being WAY more efficient in general.

I've been wearing two different pairs of Xero's for the last year and a half. It's hilarious trying to go back to 'normal' shape shoes, if you can even get your foot in. I have had Altras also. Same issue. Wider than my past running shoes and minimal but still wasn't ideal. Another option I've like is the Viktos shoes. They are the most wide "regular" size. You might even have to order a size down for the shoes. Not sure about the boots. Boots I usually run a bit bigger for socks. The veteran owned and engineered BUT made in China.

Apparently a lot of people drag their toes when they walk. My daughter got blisters on the tips and sides of her toes when she started track. When looking at her shoes she had red scuffs from the track material on the front and top of her toe box, idk how people are walking without picking up their feet but its apparently pretty common. Point being, other people have the front coming apart probably means they need to pick up their dang feet.

Just my 2 cents, I have normal feet but I decided to try out barefoot shoes to see if the hype is real. I bought Vivobarefoot shoes back in June and been wearing them since, so i'm also around 100 days. First two weeks, walking more than 20 minutes on asphalt killed my feet, they just got sore from not being used to it. After that it was my right knee that was bothering me, I had to like learn to walk again in these shoes, because you will be a little tense and maybe have to adjust your posture. Every small stone you step on is a big OW! if you stomp your feet, you will learn to be graceful and develop a better sense of your surroundings. My foot size/width seem to be the same since if I put on old shoes, it doesn't feel any worse. I do feel like the balls of my feet are stronger and I have better balance, however that has not transferred over to my lifting progress. At least now I can walk in them for over 2 hours without my feet getting sore so that's something. We'll see what happens in the future, I like this little experiment. But aside from that, I can't currently say that everyone should get them. Only if you want to experiment for yourself. They definitely aren't magic. Big caveat too, if you're feet are fucked up, talk to a doctor first. Your feet might not be able to handle shoes like these if you have arch problems etc. Also, for how cheaply they're made, they ask an insane amount of money. Vivo's are made from recycled materials and my Primus Lite III Men's cost like 170$, they seem overpriced to me. IF you have any questions, i'm glad to reply!

I love my pair. I wore them daily for over a year, and now I split time between them and a pair of xero shoes. They have held up great. The only downside, really, is that barefoot shoes ARE NOT suitable for standing on hard surfaces for extended periods of time. I made the mistake of wearing them for 10 hours while walking/standing on concrete. Never again.

Ive been in barefoot shoes for the last 3-4 years and spent all but the last 6mos standing on a concrete floor for 10hrs day at my last job. For me it was about making sure I was standing correctly. I'd been wearing my pair of Bearfoot shoes for all my walking, jogging, and lifting in the gym for well over a year (even did my two powerlifting meets in them). The only reason I got a different pair of training only shoes is because the tread was not as grippy as they used to be (again, after a year plus!). I still wear them exclusively outside the gym (unless my gf wants to get any kind of dressed up 😂). Fantastic shoe, 10/10 would recommend.

My favorite company for barefoot shoes is Wildling. They’re very wide, but I also really like the look of them. The only problem though is that I’ve been been looking for a barefoot shoe that is a little more durable. Don’t give me wrong wildling shoes are really good. But durability is not as good especially if you’re running through the woods and being really rough with them. they’re great for day-to-day but not so much for intense use. I think I’m gonna get a pair of these to use as my outdoor durable shoe because of this video.

I’ve been wearing bearfoot shoes for over a year now I started with the high tops I wanted a weight lifting shoe bc I liked deadlifting barefoot and as I wore them and gained more knowledge etc I started wearing them all the time and I’ve bought another pair of high tops but the canvas version in the artic white which btw is a really really good looking shoe just it is white so I only wore it for things like school where I could avoid getting them dirty my old suedes became the beater shoes and I have got them pretty darn cooked they need a new insole and outsole although the outsole really isn’t that bad for how long I’ve worn them it’s held up great I’m gonna take them to a cobbler see how much it is to fix them up bc the rest of the shoe is in great condition just the two parts that get worn the most I also purchased bearfoot bruins when the came out and that’s the only boot I’ve worn since absolutely loved the once they broke in. I recently bought a pair of the oso slippers and I was a little skeptical at first but after wearing them I love them super comfortable easy to slip on I always where them in the shop or casual days etc i love all my bearfoot shoes certainly recommend them and I’ve had alot of time to test them the only problem I have had with them is sole separation my first pair the heel separated about an inch in and I had to throw some shoe glue on it my other shoes have been fine but even my new oso has a little bit of separation on the toe my friend who bought a pair also had separation in the toe region with the ursus they are great shoes and the separation is a super easy fix but it’s still something I believe needs to be looked into as the issue seems to be so common

The BRUIN model looks cool. I have wide feet, but my feet aren't flat, so I'm not sure if these would be good for me. I usually just buy slightly bigger shoes to account for the width and I've never had a problem with that strategy.
@michaelking3206
@michaelking3206 Жыл бұрын
Barefoot shoe soles are flat and flexible so that when you walk in them, your arch can do it’s job to adjust to the surface it’s walking on. That’s what the arch is meant to do. Try walking out in nature, especially on a log or something to balance on barefoot and watch how your foot naturally adjusts to the angle and surface of what you’re walking on. Regular shoes with arch support inhibit that natural biological function of ours and makes the muscles in our feet atrophy over time.

I always thought you had really wide looking feet the few instances you'd show toes on video. first time I saw one of your tree work videos and I saw you in work wear, I thought your feet looked weird for once seeing it in regular work boots. I tried to buy a pair of timberland work boots in wide size, and it's weird because they don't fit like my crocs do. When I put one under the other, the crocs were moreorless the same width as the boot, but when i looked at it from above, the toe box looked less round on the boot than my croc. My base of reference nowadays is just my crocs because it's the widest footwear that I've ever owned and if companies are getting away with saying a boot is wide but it's really not then I have to imagine a lot of boot manufacturers aren't actually making wide sized shoes. I mean I feel more comfortable in crocs, but I know my foot isn't naturally wide because I haven't been spending my whole life barefoot nor as a working man or anybody even with an athletic background, but it still felt more comfortable to me. When I looked into it, wide size fitting standard, there is these weird letter and number things, 2e 1d 3e. 1d being regular standard width, 2e being i guess slightly wider, and 3e being something I've never tried before. It could just be that the steel toe encloses your foot more. There's like a whole community around hand made boots on youtube. I encourage you to look into it someday, it's pretty cool stuff. There's this thing called a "last" and it's basically the mold that bootmakers will use to form the leather upper around. I suspect that the reason why popular manufacturers won't make wide size shoes in general, is because of the inconvenience of getting specific tooling for it in the manufacturing process and having it to scale. Maybe a wider steel toe simply isn't as readily available because it would use more steel and somebody would have to buy a bunch of molds for it to be made. There's just some boots that look rounder at the toe from looking down at the shoe than other shoes but I was always afraid to try a 3e for myself because I didn't have naturally wide feet. So I try to buy 2e but maybe 3e or something is the right direction to steer to be able to spread toes out evenly. I'm not really sure when it comes to these work boots, they seem confusing. I think the biggest difference between a person with naturally wide feet and someone who doesn't, is the height of your foot structure or vertical depth of it. I had a friend that found it funny to shitpost about his feet and the weird angle he took a photo of his feet make me realize his feet look thicker than mine. One of his gimmicks is that he can move his pinky toe alone without moving his other toes, he credits it to being inbred. the kid in my brain saw it said that i wanted wide meaty feet like that. Some people have expressed that a pointed or narrow toe box somehow looks more appealing... but to me I just don't see eye to eye with that line of thinking. I like heavy work boots and hiking boots that look bulky and bad ass as possible. I think maybe something is wrong with me.

My bearfoot shoes were falling apart out of the box. Very poorly stitched and the rubber soles were peeling off. Just from walking on the treadmill and leveraging myself on a foam roller, the rubber soles began tearing off even more. The replacement pair they sent me were even worse.

I am passionate debater, which might seem like I am angry,, and am very critical of the pseudoscientific approach associated with barefoot lifting/walking (I would like to refer to many rebuttals others have made of SquatU).
