Yes, it's just much slower. You have to pick up, identify, and drop every item. You'll also "lose" some items because they'll become uniques.

The chest auto IDs magic items that drop on the ground so your loot filter can do all the work for you rather than IDing and checking 300 items a map. Saves time

It makes dropped items to be less yellow rarity, and his chest makes them identified to easy checking

Reduced Rarity makes you spawn more Magic Items instead of Rares - and the chest piece Identifies every Magic item that drops. This makes it easier to tell which items are good and which ones aren't.

its necessary to make Rares go to magic item, you will be able to make a filter for magic items if you use the Cloak chest

less rarity = items drop magic instead of rare. Bodyarmor wisdowm scrolls all magic items => no id while mapping which would cost you time
