that brick w/ the joint compound on it looked AMAZING, what a brilliant idea! I like it a bit better that way more than w/ the paint, personally, but it definitely looks good all painted up as well. Purely a stylistic choice.

A friend of mine has been a handyman for over (30) years and helped me do some demolition/remodeling on my home a few years ago, and let me tell you! When he taped and mudded, there was ZERO need for sanding. It's truly an art!

We used the same panels for behind our stove and vent hood! We painted them white as well. It gets so many compliments when people see it! I originally was going make my own but this was way cheaper and it looks and feels real.

I am MIND BLOWN how this legit looks like my kitchen I remodeled 5 years ago 😳 like the color is very similar - I have a white brick backsplash... the layout is different but overall it feels like my kitchen lol. Obviously we have great taste in design 😉 bc I am still in love with my kitchen and doing stuff yourself feels amazing to accomplish and you guys know that considering you have 10+ years of experience - I am only at 5 yrs experience and I have been learning a lot from you guys in these videos - I actually didn't do that cut out thing with my bricks (so lowkey my kitchen is like chopshop version of this one) 😆 Incredible work you guys do!! We did the brick backsplash when we remodeled our last house. We're doing a kitchen remodel again in our new house and plan to "brick" it again.. I left it just looking like the red brick and loved it. It's such an inexpensive way to update plain walls. It makes it look like I'm drinking my morning coffee in a cafe!

Thanks you!! My degree actually has absolutely nothing to do with what I do now haha. My dad is an engineer, so I think I definitely picked up some of his love of tinkering and building things, although he works more with machines and I prefer woodworking and things like that! Things probably look more effortless now, but that's just after years of growing and practicing... my first furniture builds and DIY home projects involved a lot of trial and error (that was before KZbin could teach you everything lol) and definitely didn't look very professional!

That's how I've done it in the past too, you just skip the painting step! You can seal with a matte water based poly too.
