We have another monster hand! How should be bid this hand making sure we are forcing partner to keep bidding?
Jack guides us through the auction and all the way to slam, explaining which bids will be 100% forcing. But now we have to make our slam contract!

For anyone playing Schenken (yes, I know, that makes me an oldster), this hand is not difficult to bid. In Schenken, ANY 17+ HCP hand (except for 1NT, 2NT, and 3NT) is opened 1C. Responder MUST bid 1D with

easier hand for any big club system not just Schenken. As I do not play 2C as game forcing, 2C seems right as u have easy rebids.

1. The hand has a 3-loser count. You can open 2 clubs with 3.5 losers. 2. If you open 2NT, and your partner responds with Stayman, you are about to find a sweet 8+ card major suit fit.

If you assume W's D play shows he started with 5, then squeeze chances by ducking a spade are a almost a sure bet. With 4 cards to go S has SQAx and CKx. W has to keep 2 D hence only 2C. E has to keep 2S so only 2C. Thus 3rd club trick with be a winner no matter how they were divided originally.

also squeeze chances looks like u can run a simple played as double squeeze duck a spade into East pitching a Dia from dummy. Now u have the spade threat in the upper hand against E. looks like the single D threat against W in the upper hand and the both suit will be clubs. Win the Dia return in dummy run hearts, then the last spade and watch spades and dia's. If u do not see a critical card fall hope for clubs seems better to me that 3-3 clubs. The problem with playing for a 3-3 clubs besides seems more unlikely given the bad break in spades, is your transportation for a squeeze is no longer there

Cash a second heart first. If both follow then ducking a spade means that the squeeze will work every time no matter how the clubs and diamonds are divided.

if south has only 12P (open 1S is right), and north has only 10p(responding with 2C is also right), this 2H forcing is in big trouble in my view. north can only bid 2NT or 3D - lead to 3H or 3NT certainly failure.

I guess you can always bid 2S (with doubleton or in extreme situations single honor spade), which should inform about misfits and weak hand. 2NT should not be forcing then (if opening hand really is 12 PC) and 3D should be bid with a stronger hand - stronger than 10 PC.

Why can’t the 2 hearts bid be interpreted as 5 spades and 5 hearts?…equal and touching, bid the higher one first?

South would need to jump to show the length of hearts (3H is 5 clubs, 5 hearts, 14 to 15 points). A natural jump to 2H shows at least 4, so North only gives fit with a 4-card heart.

There's 4 H leads and 6 H outstanding. I'd have explored that before looking at other suits. After 2 leads you find that a finesse isn't necessary.

It is to show a hand in the upper range of what you promised before. Bidding game directly would show the lower range of what you promised. Principle of Fast Arrival: Jumping to game when a forcing bid below game is available shows the lower range of what you promised thus far

I too agree: Asking with RKB (if [He] to get eventually then in 6NT) allows to find the double covers in Club and Diamond(=A+K) and try for a grand slam. About squeeze as cards lies there is also a simple one in minor suits.

@@carloingravalloba Yes, that's what I kind of dislike about these videos. First they start very slowly, ensuring there is no need to rush, that it is essential to use the bidding space to our advantage and so on - but all of a sudden 6NT is the optimal bid. I mean what. Even if we know the partner has 12 PC and none of the opponents have AK in any suit - is it really that obvious to jump to slam straight away? It's just... urgh, the reception of the video is like "first we treat you as a beginner, explaining everything, but by the 3rd bid you should already know everything so 6NT is self explanatory. It's all conflicting messages, especially when one of them is dropping a joke (I hope) about not being able to ruff in NT game - I mean come on.

@@patryk_lewandowskiabc Hello. These videos, as they are presented, do not convey the idea well and sometimes arrive at contracts that are not suitable in the sense of not very constructive. It is true that during a tournament the bidding has some "freedom" but in the end what counts is the comparison with the other tables (which sometimes is not shown, perhaps in a hurry since an analysis takes time which is not always there). I once saw a person ask why he hadn't gone further in a slam as there was a squeeze on the table that would have earned a hold and IMPs but unfortunately the "claim" had been chosen by stopping before attempting. Since he hadn't received an answer, i confirmed that he was right. It is said that hurry is a bad adviser and instead you had to stop and think getting to a good result. However, I am on BBO and I am known by the nickname Lovera.

They are not playing 2/1. Playing SAYC. Every tutorial should start announcing what system they are playing.
