Of course a key in double finesses is transportation.

My system is yhat 2M means 5M+4m weak bid;2D means 6M weak bid, forcing to 2H😃

What do you bid 4th in hand when there are 3 passes before you and you have a weak 2 in a major? This happened at my local club a few years ago. The 4th in hand opted for a weak 2.

If you think you might actually make 8 tricks then it seems fine to open the bidding but there’s no point opening on a bad hand. I have a pretty good record of getting those decisions wrong! If I open in 4th seat I shouldn’t have. If I pass we miss a part score. I’ve learned not to worry about it.

Yep, it happens! But if you’ve got a good suit you’ll still make some tricks. 😀

But if they don't overcall you've kept them out of a contract where they have more points. If they do you've messed up their bidding and given partner great info for defence. Slight issue if you get a penalty dbl (rare!) - but maybe partner can do an SOS (question -would that be redouble?). Love these videos. Really useful for teaching (me and others!).

Hi Mary, yes, having a good suit is normal. But some very good players also open weak 2 bids on pretty goofy hands at times. This game continues to baffle me. 😀

Why did he go to 4H yes he has a fit but he hasn’t got game points?

It’s close but North does have 16 points and, importantly, the points are good ones! Aces and a King. Those are much better on this hand than a whole bunch of Queens. It would have been nice if North had something more than the 3 and 2 of hearts. There’s always a bit of guesswork and luck in bridge so don’t let the bidding bug you too much. 😊
