As a noob thief in Mournhold back in 2004ish times, I quickly learned to fear the High Ordinators. They'll put you down with extreme prejudice, often in a single hit at low levels. Never a doubt in my mind that they'd absolutely dominate this fight!

My first thought was "Ordinators win, not even close".

This fight isn't close, but probably not for the reason you'd expect. The Skaal are only slightly weaker in power and equipment. The biggest difference is because high ordinator and skaal are both the "Guard" class. Which means they have major skill blade, major skill blunt, but no major/minor skill with axe.

I tested your hypothesis by increasing the Skaals' Axe skill from 49 (its default value) to 100 (the same as what they have in Blunt Weapon and Long Blade) and repeating the 100vs100 fight 5 times. The results were as follows (negative values indicate that the High Ordinators won and give (in percentages) their total remaining Health after the fight): Round 1: -31 Round 2: -35 Round 3: -30 Round 4: -34 Round 5: -41 Average: -34 It seems that, even after the skill increase, this matchup is still decisively in favor of the High Ordinators. However, the average result increased by a massive 37 percentage points, so the low Axe skill is definitely a major reason why the Skaals are so weak compared to the Ordinators.

They almost certainly would perform better were they to have access to those other weapons. The Skaal variants you're referring to have their weapon determined by a leveled list item, which spawns any one of these weapons: Nordic Silver Axe Nordic Silver Battleaxe (this is the weapon the Skaals were using in this video) Nordic Silver Claymore Nordic Silver Dagger Nordic Silver Longsword Nordic Silver Mace Nordic Silver Shortsword Any other weapon except the first two (the only axes in this list) would likely bring about an improvement in combat performance.@@Ihummer63

There was no doubt about who would have lunch and whose bones... these are the best of the epic fighters of All of Morrowind and probably all of Tamriel, after Alma's Hands. It seems that 100 to 160 is the normal ratio. Well, or the Nordlings against the Helseth guards is an interesting fight...Hm

Divayth Fyr alone could smoke most of the other families all by himself lmao, guy is a menace to actually kill in game. Easily harder than Vivec or Dagoth Ur.

Harder than Vivec? Really? Fyr is definitely tough, but he doesn't have the same kind of stopping power Vivec has. Also, for what it's worth, in a 1vs1 fight Vivec beats Fyr pretty convincingly.@@MysteriousSignal

@@vivecarenapit interesting. I had far more trouble 1v1 with Divayth than I did with Vivec. Probably mostly the Storm Atronach summon. He'll keep recasting it constantly, so trying to out-DPS it can become a nightmare.
