This is my dream game, and I’ve found that there’s still things to do when I’m 130 hours in. A lot of the really rare events like puzzled adventurer still encourage server hopping though, for example I have seen him once in all my hours of gameplay which is insane. I get that it makes those events very special but I don’t want to walk around for another 100 hours to find them.

Second comment after watching your video (commenting before watching is the norm now I suppose XD) : I especially agree with your point concernng the "NEEEEED" to play this game. I've taken many breaks from, curently on one, and yet it remains in my thoughts. It's simply a fun experience from the moment you start your expedition. I don't feel I'm missing out by not logging in daily. I'm actually going outside and walking in the woods myself. The canadian winter is in full swing now and I had to dress up a lot, with snow shows, a walking stick, and a good hoodie. I turned to my wife and said: "don't I look like Yus Yufed, my character from Book Of Travels?". She said: "Yes dear, you look exactly like your little adventurer. Now can we get a move on, my toes are freezing!" Lmao. Good stuff.

Not sure about everyone else, but I love the no-hand holding about the game. You can spend hours just wondering around to find things. I have a crazy amount of hours in the game, and I'm still finding things.

Lovely video :) very relaxing. I also appreciate the raw audio. Even though your setup is not perfect, your voice comes accross very soothing, not isolated. It's like we're right there with you. I've played about 10 hours of the game so far. Spending most time observing the landscape and listening to the audio and soundtrack. It's like looking at a painting exposition. The reason I took a break was due to the minor bugs. NPCs dissapearing mid trade, not being able to board a traveling boat, and not being able to partake in group challenges. I'm sure those will be fixed in time. Apart from that, the game worked great! I especially loved learning to make a fire, crafting one by the town, and having real players come by and make us some tea! We exchanged lovely emotions and I had a great imaginary conversation (because I'm a roleplater lmao). Anyways, looking forward to more content, if you feel like it :)

Thank you! I'll do some more content at a slightly slower pace as I'm pinging around Europe for work/ wedding bureaucracy for a month or so. There also won't be much new to play with for a while as the devs concentrate on squashing bugs. Appreciate that you like the set-up! I'm from a documentary background mostly, so have my own ideas of what makes good sound etc. and anything too "perfect" reminds me of ad work, false cleanliness and, basically, lying.

@@lowercase1561 so true! I'n tired of the "tried and true" sound most youtubers try to adapt to, especially the documentary style tubers. In a world full of conformity, we need more individuality :) And don't worry about uploading, it's not like I'm Addicted *tm* to your channel ^.^ I've honestly only watched a few videos and I just wanted to say I was impressed. Cheers!

I haven't played any kind of video/computer game in more than a decade, but it's stuff like this that tempts me.

Im intrìgued. What holds you back to give in to temptations? I used to be like that but mostly because I didnt have a proper gaming platform. Now I feel like I put more time in to games than I should

@@vicsamsungtab My laptop is barely limping along as it is. But even when it was new, it wasn't very good for gaming. I also have a weird, counter-intuitive relationship with gaming. I'm somewhat reclusive by nature, yet when I play video games, I normally like to do so while socializing, in person. The last time I played a video game with any regularity, it was a cooperative game (Halo, maybe?)...20 years ago. I never got much enjoyment out of online gaming. I've had several one-player games that have been objectively good games, that I've played for a few hours, put up, and never played again. And it really came down to them not being in-person multi-player. So, while I find Book of Travels to be fascinating, and a part of me thinks I'd really enjoy it, experience indicates I'd buy it, spend 3, 6 or maybe 10 hours playing it, then turn it off and never pick it up again. This translates into my love of tabletop RPGs, too. A lot of folks are playing them on virtual tabletops these days, and I see the appeal, especially with scheduling. But while I played a bit online, especially during the early days of the pandemic, I don't get the same enjoyment out of it. Again, it feels strange to be a person who deeply values their alone time and enjoys nothing more than staying home and watching a movie. But when it comes to games, I want to enjoy them with friends, either on the couch next to me, or around the dinner table.

How are the npcs? Is this a game where you just do things like; fetch quests, levelling up, finding treasures etc. or are the npcs intriguing in of themselves so that they are enjoyable to interact with regardless of other potential activities? Many Thanks.

hi, i finally found out what the footwear is called (Magic carpet slippers) but I'm having issues with the daily quests given by Old Mitra, she only ever gives me the quest to go the long way to Obo' Blade Pass and I've done that four times now, but she never offers any of the other two? do you maybe remember how it was for you? any tips are appreciated

@@childrenssoup ha ha i finaly got them :) the daily quests change but only every other day or so, so you need to come back for the duration of roughly a week to get all three quests. also after the second you get a knot called 'Fold' which allows you to teleport. You need to level this to at least level 3 before you can cross the ocean to the lone island

How do i get instruments in this game? I just want to be a musician :c
@lowercase1561
@lowercase1561 2 жыл бұрын
1. Keep in mind that unfortunately you cannot play the instruments (yet). The best we can do is whistle (a skill picked up from, I think, the general salesperson in Myr?) 2. There are two instrument items so far: one bought from Rosna in the Charwood forest for X hundred thank-you knots, the other on completion of the ghost quest chain in the Underbelly.
