The Luxor Obelisks weren't stolen from Egypt. They were a gift from Egypt to France and France took only one and left the other in Egypt.

26:10 Nothing was stolen. It was offered by the Vice-king of Egypt, Mehmet Ali, to France (at those time, France helps him a lot with the modernization of Egypt, and the 'rediscovering' of Antique Egyptian culture) This myth of "Stolen obelisk" came from French "decolonialist" movement, who are known to be animate by a profound hatred of French history, even if it had nothing to do with coloniaslism. It's the kind of guys who believe Wakanda was real ...

4:30 The funny thing about the Eiffel Tower is that it was not meant to last that long, but was scheduled to be eventually demolished. What saved it was the advent of radio. Suddenly engineers realized it was a ready-made antenna for the very first radio station that started broadcasting in 1921.

It is false to say that the obelisk was stolen. In 1829, Méhémet Ali, then viceroy of Egypt, decided to gift the column and its twin to Charles X and France, as a sign of good understanding. It was so complicated to bring both back to France that it was decided to only bring back one of the two at first. And it is Jean-François Champollion, the first decipherer of hieroglyphs, who sets his sights on the obelisk on the right. It was necessary to build a special boat to transport it because it weighs 230 tons. It was a difficult and perilous journey, which is why the second one was never brought back to France. You like to travel and respect all countries, so please do not relay propaganda intended to harm the targeted countries. You are not serving peace between peoples by doing this.

A sculpted granite monolith, the Luxor Obelisk has stood in the centre of the Place de la Concorde since 1836. It was donated in 1829 by Egypt in recognition of the work of the Frenchman Jean-François Champollion in deciphering hieroglyphics, carried out in 1822.

What an amazing video ! I fell on it bc as a french I was interested by the answers of the title. However I wasn't excpecting that beautiful tour of the city and that much handsome meetings. It made me want to hop on a train to Paris and spend the day just walking around and eventually meeting people. It's quite strange that I live that much near of this magnificent city but almost never visited it. In fact the rest of France is already beautiful, so that's maybe the reason why we skip Paris in my family also in order to avoid the mass tourism.

I see it's been pointed out in the commentaries that Luxor Obelisks weren't stolen. It's a myth from the far-left decolonial movement wanting to rewrite history. Also, they don't speak Creole in Africa, they speak Creole in the french Islands. In Africa they speak proper french, with an accent and some local specificity of course but it's just french.

46:56 The Louvre that you see wasn't the one built by Philip Augustus of France in the 13th Century, it is the one that was built between Francis the first in the 16th Century and Henry the 4th in the 17th Century, mostly, as the King's palace, to be completed only in the 19th Century. Even the visible remains of the old Castle, in the underground gallery, were built under Charles V, in the 14th Century.

There's one thing all French people can agree on, and that's why foreigners only visit France, because it doesn't fully represent the French. Secondly, Paris isn't where you eat best, and restaurants are expensive for what they are. France is famous for its beautiful landscapes, which you won't find in Paris. It's a real shame. I'm only saying this to Americans, because European countries generally visit other cities.

I wish Amanda would be a little bit more humble about her opinions about France and French habits, she speaks in absolute truths which she really shouldn't, regarding her lack of knowledge - which I don't judge per se, 7 years is not enough to know all about a country and its people. For example the crepes are for breakfast and the savory option is a tourist thing?!? Hello ?? Crêpes can be eaten for breakfast but more often than not they are either a full meal at lunch with both savory and sweet options, or an afternoon snack, and French people definitely enjoy the savory ones, come on!

Loool ^^, y'all need to stop with this cliché which terrorises tourists and contributes to the bad image of French people. 90% of Foreigners in their vlogs and videos say that they expected Parisians to be absolutely obnoxious, and therefore were surprised people were overall normal, if not helpful (they are spot on about the dirtiness and insecurity though). No....Parisians don't hate Parisians (where on earth did you get that from ? ) and we don't feel like going to a whole new country when we cross the city's limits (where did you get that from as well ?). Yes, life is more expensive and stressful than elsewhere, and many of us have a love/hate relationship with the city (crowd, dirtiness, insecurity., all of which are true..) but we don't make a generalisation about Parisians, who are the most diverse crowd you can get. Btw, which Parisians are you talking about ? The 20% natives or the 80% who come from elsewhere in France and in the world ? Paris is a crowded and saturated megalopolis, people are more tense, stressed and in an hurry and given its size it's more likely you'll stumble across a depressed asshole (although that's debatable), but same as for London or New York, two cities where I lived. But suggesting that France (excl. Paris) is populated by absolutely adorable and warm people while Paris is made of a crowd of arrogant and bourgeois clique, sneering at the rest of France and tourists in some private salons, is out of touch with reality, fr. Yeah French people are not as nice as our Southern European neighbors, and people are more tense in the capital city, nothing new under the sun. Don't need to fight a cliché with another one :)

yeah its biased against 🤡 like you. Xenophobic, 1500's medieval mindset, fearful, and ignorant. Guess who was an "Empire" who made slaves out of millions of people worldwide including in Senegal? France. Maybe if your country didn't steal the wealth of nations and create extreme poverty by murdering millions, then they wouldn't have to go to France. But your people did. Own up to it and take responsibility for what your ancestors did, instead of shunning the people who's conditions your nation had a large part in creating. I doubt the Street Vendor has been offered a path to citizenship, which would allow him to pay taxes and give back to the system, so he's stuck doing things under the table. Without xenophobic people like you, this problem would have solutions but you'd rather just point fingers at people who look and sound different from you, and exclude them so they have no options. Disgusting. And why blame Cooks for their Corporate Overlords raising prices? That sounds like a problem with the Owners/Locals, not a problem with the people getting paid low wages working in the kitchen. What you said makes no sense. Blame the Rich Restauranteurs not the working class. You are anti working class, anti people, and elitist. No wonder your party lost in the elections resoundingly. Go back to your ivory tower.
